Damn, looks like my proposal lost. Well, if we're going to play as a prodigy, let's at least give them a religion to follow.
[X] Plan Smiling Wanderer
I realize that having a religion will give us another obligation, but not having one could be an obstacle in itself (we don't know how people in this world react to atheists).

Commence: operation "overthrow"

PS: I don't usually change my votes and definitely not twice in a single poll, but at least let us have a protagonist without all the benefits of the high social status

Funny how an impending deadline expedites the voting process.

EDIT: Sorry I'm late, I was caught up in some things.
Adhoc vote count started by wingstrike96 on Dec 4, 2017 at 12:11 PM, finished with 45 posts and 16 votes.

  • [X] Plan Smiling Wanderer
-[X] The Wanderers of Bliekyo, a religion that isn't the most organised, but the old faith certainly as ways of surviving the onslaught of the new gods, this religion is everywhere and their followers are obligated to help another wanderer, especially when they are in need.
-[X] In Eldacar's Rest, at the Royal Orphanage, you never really knew your parents and you don't really want to know them. The Matron there taught girls who had the potential witchcraft, your familiar was the first thing you ever owned, and you love it like nothing else.
-[X] Retaining a flighty and happy disposition, the world seemed so serious to you and it's not like you can't be serious, it's more just a case of not needing to be serious all the time.
-[X] A prodigy, at childhood you could cast spells that most adult mages struggle with, when you came of age, you were something of an expert, despite your young age.
-[X] Adventure, there's nothing quite like the feeling of discovering something new, it's a feeling that you had during childhood and to be honest, its stuck with you as an adult, you always want to find something new.
    -[X] Image 1
[X] Plan Happy Prodigeous Magician Adventurer
    [X] Plan Hopeless Romantic
-[X] The Followers of the Nameless One, a militaristic religion that is almost unique to Starford and the area surrounding it. There's some power in their words but others don't take too kindly to this upstart religion.
-[x] The Wilds was your home, you grew up with a travelling caravan, travelling the lands of Starford and beyond, you are much more ready to travel and you can almost always find an old friend on the road. You view your familiar as a travelling buddy and you do trust it to watch your back, most of the time.
-[X] Depressed, no one seemed to give you a fair chance and you constantly doubt yourself. Even if you do have potential.
-[X] A prodigy, at childhood you could cast spells that most adult mages struggle with, when you came of age, you were something of an expert, despite your young age.
-[X] Love, said to be the most powerful of emotions, it can so easily overpower one's judgement and its rarely the same experience for everyone despite having similar symptoms, it's said that "if you can bottle love, you can do anything".
    -[x] Image 2
[X] A prodigy, at childhood you could cast spells that most adult mages struggle with, when you came of age, you were something of an expert, despite your young age.
[X] No religion, its all crap anyway made up to control the populace, not a popular opinion but you do have something of a different viewpoint to discussions.
[X] In the embrace of nobility, the regent may have had an affair with a serving girl and you may be the unfortunate evidence of that affair, understandably, you aren't all that well treated. The crown prince doesn't mind you though. The Court Mage helped you summon your familiar, you have a deep connection as it was the most understanding companion you had.

-[x] Somewhat Cynical towards the world, your familiar had the power of telepathy and constantly told you what everyone was thinking.
-[x] Not all that good to be honest, you can cast a few spells but you've had to rely on running away or melee combat more than you'd like
-[X] Adventure, there's nothing quite like the feeling of discovering something new, it's a feeling that you had during childhood and to be honest, its stuck with you as an adult, you always want to find something new.

Just to clear some confusion we aren't going to be a noble with a manor and all that jazz, we are the result of an affair and the local court mage took pity on us and taught us and helped us common a familiar, its just a bonus, I think we will have the scorn of both social classes, commoners because we are a noble and nobles because we are a bastard.

Welp. Our girl is an orphan. A silly but prodigious orphan who wants to see the world. The vote is kinda closed

I suspect that the next vote is going to be about the familiar, and that is where the real electoral slaughter gonna take place

EDIT: The ninja-horse above approves :D

I'm okay with being an orphan just I'm sure that the religion's obligation will stab us in the back. I mean helping every wanderer we may encounter?
@RandomMan01 As for whenever or not people accept atheists doesn't matter because we won't be yelling it at every person we encounter... that will be stupid.

Just a note about your religion, some followers (and by some, I mean most) take it as more a case of helping only other Wanderers of Bliekyo, others only really help those who are basically at death's door or if there is gold involved (a la every rpg), though some believe in helping every traveler they meet, these guys also become very good at hiding from other travelers.

Not to mention the scorn of the Gaian Clergy and the Nameless Clergy, they don't like people born out of wedlock.
Gaians especially due to them preferring monogamous relations.
Followers of the Nameless One are allowed to have polyamorous relations but its generally frowned upon to have children out of wedlock.

[X] Write-in, your childhood may not have been all that good, or it may not have been all that bad. Either way, it has left you with something of a … unique effect.

It would have worked if the character isn't a short cute girl or a tall hot grown woman, I know Lady Deadpool is the latter but in a different kind of way you know... Still I would have liked a Deadpool Quest...That would be awesome. But not in this Quest, it just won't work.

I know, that's why I brought up reincarnation in the personality write-in. This is Deadpool reincarnated into an isekai fantasy world. Because, you know, not even literal death can kill Deadpool.

I'm not saying we will be, but depending on the type of world this is, letting it slip that we do not follow any religion could result in worse results than simply being the wrong religion. On top of that, I'm just really curious about how the religions work in this world, and I didn't want the character to simply ignore them. Plus, I like the prospect of the potential fun times that could occur as a result of said religious obligations.

Chill. This is not the universe of my quest, so I doubt that our girl gonna be deus-vulted for not being pious enough.

Probably not, but who knows? Well, the QM does, but I don't like asking for a lot of detail about the world before the QM chooses to reveal them.
Either way, I wanted the character to have a religion, so I chose the option with one.

Character Creation Three, Familiar Magic and Leaving.
Not entirely proud, but I've been working on this one for a while so… might as well get it out there. Plan format as always.

Though of course, the most important thing about a witch or a wizard would be their familiar, a creature summoned through magic to assist their master, some theorists believe that the soul of a familiar is actually the soul of one who has recently died, though there is evidence to the contrary, but that is not important.

One thing which is as important as naming people is naming your familiar, after all, they are your lifetime companion and most people don't like referring to them as 'familiar', even the most professional of mages.

[ ] Name

A familiar can take on a multitude of different forms or appearances, each would have a multitude of different uses. What form did this familiar take:

[ ] Mystic Animal – A normal animal but with a difference, this animal is capable of telepathy and actual magic themselves, they appear as a normal animal with several magic runes upon their body. These animals are actually capable of sentience and some mages have been known to have conversations with these creatures.
-[ ] What form did it take? (Small mammal, reptile, insect, bird)

[ ] Wisp – A small blue floating outline, vaguely reminiscent of the shape of a head. The outline of the body glows slightly, but this is a surprisingly versatile creature, with the ability to appear and disappear at will and cannot be killed though normal means, making it a good distraction.

[ ] Pseudodragon – A small little dragon that's about the size of a housecat, it breathes gouts of surprisingly damaging fire, among other things. Its surprisingly sturdy despite its small size and can fly swifter than most birds. It is also the apex predator of small birds, insects and small reptiles.

[ ] Elemental – A creature which is rarely seen outside of a mage's laboratory. It is a creature that is comprised entirely of one element and is obviously, very good with an element. Surprisingly sturdy creatures capable of magic, they are more useful than one would initially assume.
-[ ] Fire Elemental
-[ ] Earth Elemental
-[ ] Water Elemental
-[ ] Air Elemental

[ ] Reflection – A reflection of the mage themselves, it is the same in every detail except one, it can't speak, aside from that, it can function in the exact same way the mage can and can often pass of as the real one. It should come as no surprise that this creature can cast magic as well. It can also disappear and appear at will, this would be useful to make it appear as there was multiple versions of the same person.

[ ] Write in – A surprising result, one that appears to be unprecedented, just what is it?

Some mages think that their familiar is just a means to an end, while such a relation would certainly get results, it causes resentment with the creature which would lead to it being mysteriously absent during the mage's darkest hours.

Speaking of which, what problems does your familiar have: [PICK ONE]

[ ] It's always been a free spirit – It's been there for you when you need it, but if it doesn't think you need the help, it'll be elsewhere.

[ ] It's a lazy little bugger – If it requires even the smallest amount of difficulty or effort on its part, it won't do it and you often have to carry the bugger around with you, like a cat.

[ ] It thinks you are the familiar – If it has telepathy, it'll express how it thinks you need to bow to its whims and slow down, if it doesn't have telepathy, you'll get angry sign language or growls thrown at you every other minute.

[ ] It has no concept of stealth – When you're sneaking along, it would suddenly try to alert as many people to your presence as possible or it would try to grab the attention of everyone, who'd then realise that they have a mage intruding on them.

[ ] Fluctuating Magical Connection – Something went wrong while summoning it, that much is clear to see, though what is clear is that you have a poor magical connection to your familiar, it often drops in and out of existence, out of its own will.

[ ] Frail – Maybe something went wrong with the magical connection, its stable but by Bilekyo, does your familiar seem like it's made of sticks.

Though those are some drawbacks, there is something a bit more important than a familiar. For a mage is useless if they cannot do magic.

So, what kind of magic do you specialise in? [PICK FOUR]
[FREE] Lesser Magic – The most basic kind of magic, this is the bare essentials, really overlooked by most mages, but the tricks that can be done by it is not to be overlooked.

[ ] Mastery of Lesser Magic – While most mages know lesser magic, few rarely bother to master these magics, while some may call you a fool, there is nothing foolish about mastering the magic that no one expects can really get you out of a pinch.

[ ] Introduction to Magic, the particular kind of magic that's not weak enough to be Lesser magic but not Strong enough to be Greater Magic, it's a very nebulous term, really.

[ ] Sword Dancing Fundamentals – A type of magic that synergises with swordplay, it speeds up your blade or enhances your strikes, electrical blades, flaming sword.

[ ] Sword Dancing Adeptness – Increase your understanding of the art of Sword dancing, adeptness makes your magic more effective and it improves your knowledge of swordsmanship, a favored past time of the Kingdom. [REQUIRES SWORD DANCING FUNDAMENTALS]

[ ] Healing Fundamentals – A perfectly valid school of magic that focuses on the healing of wounds and diseases alike. Helping people recover from very minor wounds

[ ] Healing Adeptness – Improve one's knowledge of healing magic in order to improve their chances of surviving from more grievous wounds, heal more, faster. [REQUIRES HEALING FUNDAMENTALS]

[ ] Pyromancy Fundamentals – Not really approved of in civilised society, but in the wilds its fun and useful in equal measure.

[ ] Pyromancy Adeptness – Further expand upon your knowledge of the elegant art of setting things on fire without a box of tinder and some steel or flint. Make bigger fire balls making the fire dance around you. [REQUIRES PYROMANCY FUNDAMENTALS]

[ ] Cryomancy Fundamentals - The art of casting spells based off the uncaring and all-consuming cold, give some frostbite in minor cases or lodge an ice spike in their heart. You'll be a blast at parties.

[ ] Cryomancy Adeptness – Expand upon your creations of frost, create blades out of ice, form larger icicles, not really all that devastating and no way can you make a castle out of it, but everyone's got to start someone. [REQUIRES CRYOMANCY FUNDAMENTALS]

[ ] Electromancy Fundamentals – The truly shocking art of casting lightening spells, minor at first, but it could soon become more powerful and, it's really useful against someone wearing metal armour.

[ ] Elctromancy Adeptness – Powering up your ability to shock people into submission, can be used for non-lethal attacks and making yourself very proficient at fishing. [REQUIRES ELCTROMANCY FUNDAMENTALS]

[ ] Chronomancy Fundamentals – The bare-bones of arguably the most powerful and dangerous kind of magic, Chronomancy, the control of time itself. At this basic level it would mostly consist of slightly slowing down time in order to make you appear more proficient in combat, though this magic is especially draining.

[ ] Divine Magic Fundamentals – The beginning of the study of the magic of divines, while it is not the same as healing magic, there is a synergy between the two, this magic focuses more on the living dead and those of evil intent. Though this magic isn't powerful, especially at this stage, the backing of the Divine kind is not to be underestimated.

Though this is of importance, you don't exactly become an adventurer by sitting around reminiscing on your studies of magic, you've got a familiar, your robes (complete with a shawl) and you have the opportunity to get away from the city, though you do hear that there is an event of some significance happening tomorrow and its open to the public.
In two years, the royal family will be smaller and blood will be spilled
[ ] Attend the Event Tomorrow.

[ ] Leave Today.

Once again, not all that happy with this update, but I had to get it out so that I could focus in school.
