[X] Yes. While you won't have access to such a drastic power-up in a pinch, the long-term boost could more than make up for it, especially with training taken into account.
-[X] Wish to be able to integrate all three methods of magic use flawlessly. On top of being the perfect way to fuse a Gear, a Barrier Jacket, and a Costume into one single system, this should fast-track you to any potential combination abilities that you would lack easy access to otherwise.

A Sound on the Edge of Hearing, Part the Last
You purse your lips. Your first thought was to wait until a more… necessary moment, but then a stray thought took hold: to just do it, consequences and hesitation be damned. To grasp for the power to… do something. Save the world, probably.

"You know what? Sure, I'll do it." You take a moment to put your thoughts in order, and speak, already feeling power stirring within you. "I wish to be able to integrate all these methods of magic perfectly: Midchildan spellcasting, the Symphogear system, and being a Magical Girl. I want to make it all work together."

The power, the potential you felt earlier begins truly welling up, and when it reaches its peak, Kyubey reaches his ear things towards your chest, and-

Pain. The red-orange Linker Core that's been inside you your entire life floats out of your chest, even as you feel it rapidly disconnecting from and reconnecting with nearly all parts of your body, rearranging how your magic works. Needless to say, it's not the most pleasant experience, and you feel your balance slipping, your body beginning to fall backwards.

But then the pain stops, and you see a shining orb in front of your eyes.

"Go," Kyubey speaks dramatically, "embrace your destiny."

While you would ordinarily be confused at what he meant, in this situation, the words aren't corny or cheesy at all, and you reach out for your Linker Core, your Soul Gem, and grasp it in your hands.

It's hot to the touch.

You're still falling, though, but a quick, instinctual expression of magic stops the fall just before you hit the ground, gently laying you down instead of making you crack your head open (again) or something.

In an instant, Sayaka is kneeling by your side, looking down on you with a concerned expression. "Are you okay? That looked… painful."

You blink a couple times, trying to reassert your bearings, before sitting up, Sayaka putting a hand on your back, probably ready to steady you if you fall.

You raise a hand in front of your face, experimentally opening and closing your fingers, trying to get a feel for whatever exactly the changes were. It feels… strange, like you just woke up from a deep sleep, feeling far more energized than you have any right to be. You begin to move mana and run through the equations to produce a basic Blaze Shooter, but the moment the thought, the intent enters your mind, a fireball appears in your hand, far more quickly and naturally than it would have if you cast the spell the normal way.

You cancel the spell, closing your fist in the process, idly noting a triskelion insignia on your middle fingernail. "I… I'm okay. I think I feel better, even, although it'll probably take a little getting used to."

"That's a very common reaction." Kyubey notes. "This should aid you in future fights against Finé, whatever form they may take. She has allies, she has Durandal, but at the same time, the Bureau's presence will make attempting what she did again difficult. However, as their presence is far more likely than not to increase, Finé's window of relatively easy opportunity is closing. I predict we'll see more from her soon: perhaps a year or two at most. You'd best be on guard."

Both of you nod seriously. "But we defeated her once already." You assert resolutely. "And we're stronger than before. She's going to have a tough time, to say the least."

"Ideally." Kyubey agrees. "Yet she's not shown her full hand, I expect. Far from it."

With those ominous words, Kyubey walks off towards the sunset, leaving you and Sayaka to mull over the implications yourselves.

Season 1, Finé.

So. How long till this completely and utterly blows up in our faces and we are having to deal with having our MC being a Witch?

A witch wielding all 3 magic systems would be fun.

But honestly integrating Magical Girl, Midchilda Magic and Symphogear systems open the doors for all kinds of bullshit. This would bring possibilities that merely possessing one type of magic simply wouldn't. If it's a problem, I imagine it would end up being significant, but ulitmately temporary. And over time, mitigated as the TSAB studies the phenomenon more in depth.

That or Miho get's the Kazumi treatment.

If nothing else we know that grief is a usable high efficiency energy source, just not by megucas.

Midchildan magic shouldn't have any trouble turning it into a beam if it can hook onto the stuff at all. And our wish allows that.

Save the world, rule the world, save our self, save our friends, go mad with power, let ourselves be studied to grant this power to all?

No, this is fuck it, we ball energy. This is being an impulsive teen given a shiny red button. This was dumb, selfish, and shortsighted, and I love it.

Now we just need to see how far we can push this bullshit. Genjuro will be proud.

Huh. That's different. The symbol itself is fitting, with google telling me that it's possibly the oldest spiritual symbol in history. It can represent earth, water, and air, but given Miho is above all else gifted in playing with fire, that's not the connection.
The Celtic Triple Goddess, namely the maiden, mother, and crone are likely closer, but not a good fit. It is however, also called The Three Legs, which fits better as representing the the systems she forcing to play nice for her. And on a personal level, it's a symbol of power through transition, growth, and transformation for women. Great for what Miho is doing right now.

But it being on her fingernail is odd. Is her soul gem taking the place of her nail? She doesn't describe the nail itself being colored or anything... but then she also didn't say where her Soul Gem was, that was just implied. Is this even related?

Meguca bodies are marked with a sigil representing their connection to it so that greatly eases the ability they possess their body. The soulgem takes the form of a ring when inactive. Below is Homura's ring and finger.

Note the soul gem IS you, in theory you could ditch your body and resleeve onto any animate body and run it with your magic instead, but with your soul gone from it its going to start rotting unless you stored it, and any OTHER body is going to be a lot less efficient to run than your native flesh unless you figure out how to recreate your fingernail marking.

The triskelion should actually be the Belkan magic circle.

Heh, I didn't really think the wish option would win. SV does have a habit of putting off making a wish until the very last moment, and sometimes going out of her way to avoid it even then.

But it being on her fingernail is odd. Is her soul gem taking the place of her nail? She doesn't describe the nail itself being colored or anything... but then she also didn't say where her Soul Gem was, that was just implied. Is this even related?

As far as I remember, the mark on the magical girl's fingernail is a detail that appeared in the movie but was never discussed. It probably serves no purpose other than aesthetics.

I'm really curious how the synergy will work. For example, mages in Nanoha don't really have such restrictions on their magical energy usage. Will Miho be able to gradually regenerate her magic power? It still probably won't protect her from running out of energy, though.

Its elaborated upon in the games and side materials. The mark is their mark of 'ownership' over the body.
It became relevant in two scenarios:
1) The soul gem is removed from the body and needed to be reattached. Sayaka in one bad end was separated for too long from her body and returned to find it rotting and having to pay for the regenerate from her magic which...yeah was bad on top of the sheer negative emotion hit of realizing your body is basically a zombie, down to the rotten soft tissue.

2) More than one magical girl sharing a body. It happened a few times. If they both own the same body its like a timeshare.

Can't say, but there will probably be a lot more singing while spellcasting, and I'm down for that.

I was doing some rereading of the thread, and the GM compared the systems to DnD magic. Gear and Device users are like wizards and sorcerers. They need to learn magic the hard way, though sorcerers have a more innate relationship with magic. Magical Girls are more like magical creatures. Very limited spells, but they don't have to think about them, they just do it. Given what little we saw in the update, that mostly seems to mean that the spells Miho already has should come easily and efficiently, without having to concentrate. So more mental resources are freed up while in the thick of a fight.

Of course, that's basic stuff. How this interacts with Striker Calvier and Mandjet are more interesting questions. Gears and Devices can somewhat integrate, but it's been limited so far. If I remember right, we could either have the barrier jacket, or the gear armor with some barrier jacket overlays. Now, we should have something much more cohesive, along with the more innate durability of a Magical Girl. If all that stacks and we can still count on Mandjets rocket speed, Miho has become a flying brick. A flying brick with dangerous ranged options, even. Genjiro will need to recommend us some new movies.

Then there's Mandjet and Striker Calvier themselves. Again as I recall Striker doesn't interact in anyway with Mandjet. He could analyze it externally, but most of the time he was working around it. With this integration, he should have a much better understanding of its internal workings and should be more free in how he can support the whole magical package. He also might be able to sing with Miho, and that would as awesome as it would be cute.

I'm very much looking forward to what all can happen here.

My original thought for her "Magical Girl Emblem," so to speak (the symbol also appears at the base and tip of the Soul Gem), was a flame, but I ultimately discarded it because while a flame would describe "Hongo Miho," it wouldn't describe "Hongo Miho as a Magical Girl" as well. As such, after going through a bunch of threefold flame designs that I ultimately discarded on account of being solidly meh, I considered the most obvious tripartite symbols: Borromean Rings and the Triskelion. I discarded Borromean Rings pretty quickly because they had far less embedded cultural and historical symbolism, thus leaving the Triskelion. I actually briefly considered the whole triple goddess concept briefly, trying to identify each magic system with one stage of life, but then I noticed that the "Maiden Mother Crone" thingy is a bit more of a modern creation/interpretation, and that, say, Hecate's triple forms did not conform to that paradigm.

Nah, far too intricate. Also, Miho doesn't use Belkan magic, as a Magical Girl or otherwise.

I didn't provide the wizard/sorcerer analogy, only the comparison between Magical Girls and Undead with Innate Spellcasting. If I had to liken Wielders and Mages to D&D things, Mages would be... honestly, just any variety of Arcane Spellcaster. For instance, Yuuno would be a Bard/Wizard (I can and will fight anyone who tries to make Bards all about music and performance and not at all about knowledge and history), while Hayate would be some sort of Warlock. Meanwhile, Wielders would be best described as Warlocks, with their relics as their "Patrons" (although Hibiki convinced the DM to let her start as a Sorcerer/Barbarian, before multiclassing into Monk, and then realizing her build was way too jank and thus going through an entire plotline more or less just to respec into the marginally less jank Warlock/Monk).
Then there's Mandjet and Striker Calvier themselves. Again as I recall Striker doesn't interact in anyway with Mandjet. He could analyze it externally, but most of the time he was working around it. You consider how Strike Caliver interacts with the Mandjet Symphogear, but not so much how the Mandjet Symphogear interacts with Strike Caliver.

Grizzly bear running around in a witch barrier happily annihilating familiars with his giant grizzly paws, occasionally roaring and shooting magic from his mouth, with a random badly transplanted finger sticking out of his head.

(Yes it's the middle finger and yes it's pointed upwards.)

True, but being fair its been a while and I don't remember much about Mandjet beyond being a rocket surfboard. Sick as hell, but not a lot to work with from my limited memory. I'll have to do a full proper reread.
