The Humble Magician.
This is not the update or tally (I let you vote for few more days) but a promised omake.
Light smile adored the humble Magician's lips while she glanced from her Mirror (that surprisingly resembled similar one that her current rival was sitting in front off inside her vast library) and her eyes swept over her guests. Well the two present. The Ghost was somewhere else and so was the humble Magician's new familiar she named Yuki due her old memories (she send Yuki to the village in her guise to gain some food and materials for the Magician's experiments). Their supposed leader, the illustrious amanojaku Seija Kijin was still "Outside" of Gensokyo, on the other side of the Portal the humble Magician and the Ghost opened thanks the notes and journals Seija and Yuki obtained during their mission at the Mansion. So only the Fairy Doll Medicine Melancholy with Suzunan the Poison Sprite by her side and their new guest that Seija "liberated" and animated with her brand of BJ were present, observing the Magician while they munched on her cookies and drank her tea. Due to Medicine's obsession with freeing Dolls, the Magician prepared and brought the refreshments here by herself, even if it was somewhat ... inconvenient.
"It looks we got another lucky break. It's somewhat unlucky, we cannot reveal what I just learned, because with how much ruckus Yukari-sama threw about her - friends - gone missing, I could be rewarded immensely. Don't worry, I don't plan to be beaten by Sakuya any time soon. Or Reimu by the matter," the Humble Magician reassured her guests.
"So what did you find?" curious Melancholy asked her host and provisional member (or allay) of the infamous GEKASEN like the group of mischiefs called themselves. The humble Magician thought it was pretty pompous (dumb) name, but that was Seija for you. Like all Devils, that girl was pretty theatrical, pompous, vein and prideful. She just HAS to have a Cause, she can't admit, she was in it for just causing shit and mayhem, like all other Youkai. It has to be Revolution either or Uprising that.
"I managed to pinpoint the current whereabouts of the Light Fairies, the Mischievous Fairies of Gensokyo," the humble Magician let some pride of her achievement colour her kind voice. She DID worked hard to set the Mirrors, attuning them to certain frequencies. She was happy that using Luna Child's old handkerchief that the Fairy forgot here, when she and her friends stopped by for a teatime, payed out. What lovely girls the Fairies of Light were. Sure they did like to prank people but were also pretty good company if you want to relax and chat idle about whatever. The humble Magician did worried when she learned they went missing but now, she was pretty sure they are alright. In fact, she had to smile when she managed to spy on them while they, in simple clothes and with satchels, were walking side by side with human children with similar satchels and bags. Following them, she watched them enter a building and then change their shoes. The humble Magician was startled when one girl walked to where her point of view was situated and with a frown said "Not nice, spying on a bunch of students." With a wave of her right hand, the girl broke the Magician's window, resetting it back to oversee of the city, the Fairies were in. "Crap," the humble Magician cursed silently. "I should count with Her. Now, She knows we know."
"Who?" the other Doll present asked.
Absentmindedly, the humble Magician replaced the life feeding with a static image of a grinning girl she obtained yesterday, during the battle Fairies of Light participated in. Young girl, with curly brown hair and bright brown eyes, in simple clothes, walked just out of some kind of tower. "Watahashi Yasumi, an alter ego of Haruhi Suzumiya" - another girl materialised besides Yasumi in the mirror, halving it. "Both of them are, should be, very dangerous, although only Yasumi-san can utilise her powers effectively now. What did the Fairies changed? I'm sure what I recorded yesterday was the closing event of Surprise."
"It still freaks me out we, all of us, are supposed to be fictional. That my Master was not even real, just a plot devise in a game, lore of my origin. How you can be so calm about it?" the second Doll shivered.
"It actually doesn't matter. If you look at it from my angle, Youkai all are just stories. Even in this world, you can say Gensokyo is mostly a Dream, dream of humans in the Outerworld belief and disbelief separating them. Hell, I'm not even Gensokyan proper, coming here from and via Makai, a hellish dimension of Fallen and Devils. What is real or not is just matter of opinion. Like someone said 'I think, so I am'. It hardly matter. You are alive and here so you are real. It's somehow pity we didn't got the Fruit but I don't hold it against you to forfeit it to it's owner."
"They did saved me from the pirates. And without my Master, the life I had was - hollow." the Doll sighed. "But I'm grateful for this second lease on life Seija-sama gave me, even if I didn't help her as she hoped."
"Seija still gave you knew life. I mean, as she already created the Cursed Fygg copy, she thought it would be for the best to gave ME a friend. After all, I wanted to free you from the moment we learned about you." Medicine Melancholy hugged the second Doll.
"But why? Marion, my Master, told me to stop living as her?"
"But she didn't say to stop LIVING. Forfaiting the Fygg was - well noble but suicidal. Did you hoped to follow her?" the humble Magician wondered. 'What it is with Dolls? Why do they end psychotic and often melancholic. Hell, Medicine has melancholy, depression, in her name, and even she needs a friend, at least the Pixie that gave her her life originally, speeding her "awaking".' "Marionette, Marion wanted you to live as YOU, and I think she would be saddened if you would die too early, not really experience what it means to be alive. "
"Do you think so? Then I will try. I will live, not for the Bloomingdale, but in my Master's memory. I am sorry about the Fygg but the Celestrians DID guessed right."
"That they did. Seija will need to come with some other means to get her hands on the genuine Fruit." the humble Magician smiled. "I would love to study a genuine article but - oh well. I'm glad we do have you, there is new path open for us to reach our goals."
New picture appeared, of a man reaching to a girl with back long brown hair, not older than Yasumi, a Portal filled with stars in background.
"There is a second player as powerful as Haruhi Suzumiya now present in that world." The humble Magician divided her Mirror to three parts, with pictures of a girl with unruly chin-long brown hair with her hand reaching forward in as if grasping hopefully on something. The third picture showed a golden monstrosity catching a boy and a girl. "When it looked like her friends will fall to their doom, girl known as Sasaki broke a seal that someone placed on her and used her power, obviously, to save them. I would not approach Haruhi, her control over her power is crap, but Sasaki can be, hopefully, approached. If you want to help us, I would like for you, Marionette, go in that world, and try to get in Sasaki's good grace. Also, try to get an inside what other changes the Fairies brought in that world. I saw Kaguya-hime there, assisting them, and there is more." Pair of girls appeared in the mirror, going to school along the Fairies. "This two are also not humans, but don't belong to the original cast of the story. I suspect, Fairies are involved with them."
"Why is the blonde one looking a bit like - me?" Marionette wondered.
"There is something about her that makes it easy to aim at her. I won't dare to aim for Haruhi or Sasaki directly and the others are too much protected, unknown to me or unapproachable, too risky to approach, but if that girl is what I think she is, perhaps, she will welcome you as a friend. Can be friend for you. So I will send you close to her location. It's not in the city, but some way out of it." The humble Magician used her Mirror to zoom at a forested area with some buildings in state of reconstruction inside it, with sideroad connected that place with a major road. There was small village nearby and beautiful shore under white cliffs.
"Now?" Marionette and Medicine wondered.
"Give me few days. I will not be able to maintain second Gate continuedly active with what we have now available, but can let it open long enough for you to get through. I will need to create beacon, so you and anyone who you could bring through can return here, and I need you to learn more about proper etiquette and more about the Outerworld, which is similar to where the Fairies went, so you will be less conspicuous, but you are smart girl. Also learning some tricks will help you out. At least Medicine can teach you how to fly and use Danmaku."
"Danmaku? Bullet Hell?"
"It's an aerial duelling art. Beautiful and intimidating but beatable. Let's go and find some fairies to play with. I will show you what is Danmaku about and will teach it to you. Don't worry Marionette, if even Cirno or that girl Kosuzu could master it, you, with Seija's false Fygg powering you, can too. And at least you will not be so adorably defenceless, our Beloved Doll!" Medicine laughed at the pouting corrupted Celestial Doll.
The Humble Magician watched the Dolls ran out to find Fairies to "play" with. She then moved to her workshop, summoning her helpers. She has things to do, beacon to construct, perhaps some more tools. She also needed to find some spells for Marionette to learn, some more "mundane" clothes to saw for the Doll, so she will blend with the world, she will go to. There are Fairies, Goddesses and others to contact, new things to learn, in pursuing of hers and her allays wishes.
The END. In 10 days Marionette will arrive to make contact with Nina, hopefully, but with Silver Moon more probably. Did you guessed who the "humble Magician" is? I will reward the first one who will point it out. Also try to pass one or two more votes.
