Lords of the Sword Coast: A Castle Management Game (Forgotten Realms /Crossover)

What kind of problem that magical wand will bring?.Can we improbve our characther skill?
I kind of want to play military campaign thought.
since the magical wand has infinite magic missiles and does not really need to be recharged, a lot of wizards and powerful warlords would want it... I will mention though if the said improvement includes a downside with it (i.e. see undead labor force), so far the other chosen improvements has no real downsides.

So the Bladepoint Keep has a Necromancer Doctor, An Elf Engineer, A Magical Schoolteacher and an Elven Ranger. Well this is most certainly going to be interesting, I know that I'm probably going to help drill our men on how to actually fight undead.

I was thinking of being a tiefling obsessed with learning stuff before the scholar position got nabbed, after that, I was like, "eh, lets be a newish merc commander", but didn't really wanna play a dwarf. So elven ranger commander it is!
your IC description would be helpful if you decide to personally go on a quest, so for example, being an elf ranger and you used a Covert Action to find a tunnel to the Underdark, there would be a chance you won't be detected if you do find it, however, if a drow patrol finds you... consider that a bad end...:p

Can I assume that the downside is balanced a bit by the upside since in the case of my undead labor force that is going to be a massive increase in productivity for pretty much negligible upkeep cost. The main downside is the PR issues.

Fairs. But doing such a risky thing is not really on my to-do list without having some quality back-up.

That would be very helpful. It would also be helpful I think if none of the undead are armed, and we don't use them too overtly. Like, maybe use them for the out of sight, out of mind jobs like the mines etc

That's the idea, although if I do get them to do jobs where people can see them I will have them wear heavy coverings. Plus one of my first actions will be looking into better preservation methods.

Still we will need to do some PR work but besides that it should be a net positive on our end. One idea i've had to help mitigate the backlash would be to give our peasants a small cut of the profits from the mines and other undead labor activities, not a lot but enough to stop people from complaining that the undead are stealing their jobs.

You know what? You had me at Sword Coast. Hm hm hm.

Consider this a semi-reservation? I'll think on it, throw something together. I might even join... the other team. Dun dun dun.

Seriously though I'll think on it. I am very interested.

Another reason for me to play a merc is that during the summer I could go out with a company or two and earn some gold for the keep working as a mercenary, allowing for faster improvements as we have more to spend on them. Also helps to foster good relations with the local authorities, especially if I manage to do a good job. Would also likely earn xp for myself/my men in doing so.

Well we are right next to the Long Road which I assume is a major trade route so you could likely make good money just escorting merchants up and down it or clearing out bandits. I'll probably request a few of the less damaged corpses from the stronger foes you fight for my experiments.

Also true. Having consistent patrols would do wonders for trade. That would be unsettling, and Farora might not agree to bring them, depending on how well our characters know each other. After all, it's not really honourable to desecrate the bodies of your foes. After all, we're not orcs.

Well my character would make it no secret that he practices Necromancy. As for how well they know each other my character has a rather practical mindset who believes that life should be preserved and would gladly sacrifice a dozen undead for a single living person.

This would do a lot of assuage Farora's fears, but until they know each other fairly well, I can still imagine her being somewhat leery of the idea.

Oh most certainly, at the moment I mostly plan on setting up systems to get a steady stream of undead workers that are perfectly lawful and moral. Such as my life insurance idea and the like, although I do plan on having it so that criminals who are put to death are then raised as workers until their debt to society has been repaid.

@butchock here's my resume! :D

Pick Your Castle:
[X] Bladepoint Keep (start at the Northern part of the Sword Coast)

[X] Name: Seeker Dante Selonia

[X] Diplomat (Social)

[X] Description: A tall, brown-haired muscular man with yellow eyes (I know right? A diplomat with the build of a fighter? Preposterous!) that knew his way with weapons and social graces, Dante was an intense, curious man that tried to break the trend of being satisfied with the current way the world works. This had led him into more than his fair share of scrapes and escapades from the disgruntled and established political establishments. Stuffy nobles and their intrigues, or what passed for half-assed outright stupidity...
Honestly these assholes, couldn't they at least not send in assassination attempts on him as he works on a diplomatic win-win solution for everyone?! But what brought the Seeker to the Sword Coast and in turn Bladepoint Keep was running away from an irate sorceress when she tried to literally soul-bind him on a marriage contract as part of the negotiations, when he would've agreed in a heartbeat.
Hopefully his new friends and -dare he say- future allies would be accepting of him actually finding win-win negotiations. Make no mistake, he can be merciless and brutal if needed, but he's no shithead.

[X] Free Improvement: a set of books regarding agriculture (includes animal husbandry)

[X] Stormward Keep

[X] Name:
Fredricka d'al Sancroix
[X] Profession: Diplomat
[X] Short Description: The House of Sancroix has a reputation for being disgustingly wealthy and equally decadent. The young lady Fredricka is no exception to that rule. Her father, having failed to sire other children, has left one of the biggest Merchant Companies in the world to his only child. Sadly his premature death and the schemes of his compatriots has stolen from the lady what was rightfully hers.

She was not a Student of the Law, and the explanation given to her as to how they did what they did only served to confuse her. What she was however, was a skilled orator capable of grabbing the ear of everyone from the lowliest peasant to the highest of kings. She went to talk with the Merchants who stole her inheritance, confident in her ability to convince them, but sadly found that her age, lack of experience in running a business, and insistence in the trappings of art and high society meant that they simply would not budge.

They tried to assuage her by giving her a tiny bit of the Company down south, but her honor wouldn't allow it. Fredricka left them to their own devices and sought to strike out on her own.
[X] Free Improvement: Disgusting Wealth (A die is rolled once per turn and depending on the result, will either cause Fredricka's Investments to increase income and give other bonuses, or do the opposite.)

I will change into Diplomat. Standby...

Edit: Done. My Diplo guy lives by Lincoln's quote of "Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?"

Assuming my app's accepted, are you guys up north open to the idea of an alliance, or would you rather we destroy each other from the get go?
