Lord Voldemort; and how he trivialized Ragnarok - MCU-HP (MCU99%)

Some other ideas given the initial author notes:

Voki needs to seriously consider all the potential cost/benefits if he takes those suppressor jewelry off. On the bad side he might be more vulnerable to heat, look blue, and potentially vulnerable to anything that affects frost giants or giants in general. On the potential good side he might actually be immortal or extremely long lived even without any Idunn apples. The frost giants do not appear to have any immortality food or drug and appear to have comparable longevity to the Aesir who are using them so he might enjoy similar life span (or perhaps magical frost giants might even be immortal compared to "non-magic" frost giants due to the magic).

Presumably he will discard any real interest in ruling or having much to do with any frost giants given that he will likely be treated as some freak by them due to his size and probably what little he can know about them puts them as being all too similar in personalities with the typical Aesir (with the exception of "giant maids" and "giant crones" who have many powerful magics but they are generally portrayed as ones who probably would stab him in the back at first opportunity and even if they knew of his giant ancestry they probably would look at him as a deformed giant).

Another consideration is why is he interested in being known as a god of magic? Would he gain any real advantage to do so beyond bragging rights? Does he get power from worshippers or being called upon by invocations by sorcerers (like Doctor Strange) (implied in the comics but not really explored)? If so, he might want to see if he can change his name to free himself of anything to do with the Aesir. If so, maybe if Doctor Strange loses the infinity stone, Voki could give him (as a potential gift for alliance or to encourage invocations) something like the comic version of the Orb of the Agamotto and the Eye of the Agamotto (assuming that the Vishanti group of beings are not around to give him those things).

I, always, love theory crafting like this;

in short:

  • So far Volki is still far too terrified to do anything more than test the barest of limits. It will be decades, or some unfortunate 'attack', that will force him into fool-hardy actions.
  • Volki is super immortal and knows how to make, at least one decent one, Horcrux. This may or not be relevant, but losing access to Idunn's Apples is not a death threat. At worst I might decide this costs him in the magic department.
  • While Volki is aware of his Frost Giant nature, he's also intensely aware of their lowered (and automatically assumed) social standing. I could see him fiddling with Odin's original incantation to some guarantee its existence beyond Odin's lifespan. It's just too useful.
  • His interest in ruling has been thoroughly squashed, since his own abysmal (in his mind) failure. He's intensely studying Odin-King to learn what he missed the first time, but this is more in case of 'accidental acquisitions of land' than any long term conquests. Think more: Tinaleer Tivar rather than Thanos the Mad Titan, Both completely nuts, but one can be negotiated with. In the best possible reality Voldemort would simply be 'The Librarian' and spend forever learning more of it.
  • On the acceptance of the title of " God of Magic. In my head canon I will have this mean something, but I haven't decided what precisely. I have however taking this as a deep contention point with both Odin and Frigga (traditionally know as Gods of Magic [ of some sort].That being said; Odin's BoomBoom magic is more impressive than future-seeing, especially to Volki.

Odin's original incantation? You have this information that only you know and 'naturally' expect us to know about it. We don't. Please elaborate.

I know what he means, but wasn't it the way colder weather that gave Loki that skin color?

Its been a while since i saw the movie. (googled for it, images in spoiler)

It's what makes Loki pale, black of hair and green of eye. His standard form is blue, with red eyes and ridges formed like some Trekkie Alien. Erm, one more step back. Odin did this after he brought the war the Jotnar took to Midgard, pushed it back them and straight back into Jotumheim and marched out of with his defeated enemies heir.

(Who he taught to gently despise magic, hate his original people and yet somehow had plans to make him rule Jotunheim while there are two 'non-failed' Laufeyson's, who aren't 'suffering' from his lack of gigantism. A running theory is that you can have one of two: A Great Jotun, a Honorable Jotun or a Magical Jotun. And since they all believe themselves honorable....? :D

I thought I had one final, proper fan fiction left within me. My responsibilities at work increase by the week and soon i cannot justify doing anything but fall down on my couch and turn my mind off for the rest of the night.

I thought taking a powerful, but evil creature and slotting him in a powerful, but intensely misunderstood creature would be interesting. Or at least vaguely amusing. I understood the initial feedback of the lack of clarity and I have attempted to clear it up as much as could, but there is a very large concern that not been truly addressed.

It feels, despite - I am, intently, aware limited chapters - there has been less than zero true discussion on the subject. I can only surmise this was a complete swing and a miss, and despite how much the subject interest me; I cannot justify spending more time on it.

I feel it best if I take some time from these matters, perhaps hit upon an idea of truly interesting note and simply write for my own pleasure. Unfortunately, the vast majority of my pleasure comes from discussing the various opportunities; possible alterations in the end-game and alternate routes to deal with the subject matter.

This has been...lacking.

I know it is selfish, but I am also aware of what moves me. I am fully, and willing, to concede that the subject simply isn't as interesting as it could be, for I know there is no lack of time-lines to change. the MCU is easily accessible, the EDDAS - Norse Gods - are mostly know, even if not properly understood but...

From what I gather Loki is not even a decent fan-favorite. I am afraid I cannot muster the interest to sketch the politics behinds Asgards shiny veneer without true feedback from people, at least vaguely interested in reading.

For now, please consider this thread inactive.

Personally, I love your ideas, I love MCU stories, I love Voldemort stories, I love Loki stories, and I love AU world-building and re-interpretations. But I couldn't quite figure out where you were going with this story, nor did I have a good sense of which parts of the MCU/Voldemort/Loki had diverged from canon MCU and canon HP.

I do think much of this confusion was addressed. Now it's more about needing more content before being able to comment about the content itself.

I wonder if this somewhat relates to the inherent problems of serialized fiction. The nice thing about serialized fiction on forums is that you can get reader engagement and feedback as you write. However, most professional authors take the approach of writing a story to the end, then coming back to make revisions and fixes to ensure everything is clear and follows the story's themes/tone/characterizations/ending, etc. In particular, they usually ditch their original beginning after the first draft, since it rarely fits with the rest of the story.

But that doesn't seem to be your style, nor the style of most fanfic writers, so I don't quite know what to say. I would still love to see more writing from you, though. Maybe a self-contained one-shot in this crossover setting that you've built. Would something like that be interesting to you?
