    You open your eyes. At first, you're not quite sure what you see.

    It's large. That's the first thing that catches your eye. Well, that and the fact that it looks like something out of a nightmare. Its body is shaped like a human's, but everything about it seems… off. The head is angular, with sharp edges that extend in seemingly random directions. Trees grow from its scalp, and a wind you can't feel blows an endless stream of sand from the trees off into the distance. More than half of the creatures face are taken up by freakishly large eyes. Black pupils are constantly appearing and reappearing on the eyes as if they are being erased and redrawn.

    The creature's torso is colored red, and your stomach turns as you realize that you can see its blood through its skin. The legs appear crossed, but the spindly limbs merge where they touch and split off again into feet. The creature has no arms, but is instead draped in a large white cloak with empty sleeves. The cloak blows in that same intangible wind as the sand, but in an entirely different direction.

    Before you can do more than take in the creature's appearance, it moves. Its neck extends, moving its head towards you in some grotesque parody of a person leaning. A mouth cracks its face in half, and you prepare yourself for some horrible fate - being eaten, probably.

    "Hello. I do hope I'm not frightening you. I'm Florin. What's your name?"

    You stare at Florin dumbly. Had the creatu- that is, had Florin just asked you what your name is?

    While you stand there, frozen, Florin begins to hum. In the back of your mind, you're reminded of a tune from your childhood.

    Finally, you open your mouth to answer, but you're interrupted by Florin shaking its head, and exclaiming, "Oh! Silly me, I forgot a much more important question."

    "Now tell me, are you male? Or female? I can never tell with you humans."

    "And please, what was your name again?"

    "Well, it's very nice to meet you. You're probably wondering why I'm here, or rather why you're here. The thing is, I have a request. You see these three orbs here?" Florin waves its hand, and before you appear three orbs. "I want you to pick one."

    You look closely at the first one. Within it dances fire and earth and air and water and light and darkness - the old elements. The second orb is strange - it seems to flicker and shift its position slightly several times a second. The final orb is even odder, though. Within it you can see the forms of different objects, appearing, changing into something else, and then vanishing.

    You reach out to touch an orb - and as soon as your finger brushes it, everything goes dark.

    Which orb did you touch? The orb you choose determines your power.

    So, I've finally created a quest. I've had lots of ideas, but this is the first one I've put to paper - well, keyboard, I guess. I'm interested in where this'll go, and I hope we can all have fun.

    It's pretty late at night, so there might be some errors, even though I read it over a couple times.
