I meant in terms of i expected them to be more anti-austrian than anything.

Deathwing and I had a lot of deals and worked together on a lot of things. It would be out of character for this. Also the King's mother (who had some reasonable power in the Regency) was a Habsburg. The actual Regent, Cardinal Mazarin IIRC, was Catholic and anti-Prot for the most part.

I'm not saying it didn't happen. I'm just saying i didn't expect it to. Thats all. France was notorious as a rival of Austria and i simply expected that to continue, rather than whatever it was Deathwing was planning.

Yep.Neither did I . Mazrain was still alive and well, continuing Richelieus anti-Habsburg policies... there was no enimity between France and England, Henrietta had no reason to hate/plot against her brother...
@Deathwing seemingly decided to try invading and ckaiming England out of the blue.

To be fair, it wasn't. You're forgetting what happened to England before Dovahsith had his seemingly out of the blue restoration. The First player of England did a lot of wonky shit, and Deathwing married Henrietta to press a claim and have a restoration of his own. It only doesn't make sense now because of the decisions Dovahsith has subsequently made after taking control of England.

There is something like adapting to changed circumstances. I sure as hell am not going to forget 'why are you even upset I invaded you.? You should be thankful i took an useless piece of land from your hands, am still willing to pay you a MODERATE amountfor it and all, Sweden is simply not able to be a colonial power, why don't wee both go and attack Austria like good protestants should?" Humamity Dark.... i think he was it.
I am just not understanding why Deathwing kept thinking about doing an invasion and ousting Charles ....

Because otherwise it hugely reduced the value of his wedding?

Deathwing pivoted from "let's invade England and install the King" to "nope, allied with England now" as soon as the Restoration happened.

This is incorrect, and is probably, at best, a face value assumption on obvious and necessary diplomatic overtures to a new player.

Nah, apparently he was still considering going through with it before he left.

I can confirm this via PM.

I'm not saying it was smart though.

Even though he probably came off as a dick, it's not like he's wrong, for Humanity I mean.

With Deathwing, its a game and people play for what they want. Logic is actually rarely used, and we're in a setting with magic for christ's sake.

Oh, in the neme of Hermes Trismegistos....

Why does everybody seem to think the sheer presence of magic means "abandon all internal consistency, you who play here, magic is in, logic is useless from now on?
Unless its pure chaos power, magic normally has rules, limitations and an inherent logic of its own.
'A wizard did it" is only an excuse in BADLY told stories.

Nah, you missed the point. I was saying regardless, people don't play with logic in these games. If they did, then they wouldn't be fun. It is the eccentricities of players diverging from the monotonous histories that make these fun, at least for me.

Magic also has no logic, I refuse to accept "it has rules tho" as an argument, but this isn't something I'd like to get into a debate with. I just want to start this game up again. We've been pettering on about nonsense, just need to get the game going so we can petter on about relevant nonsense.

And here we part company. If something has consistent rules which can be followed in a reasonable manner so that a +b=ab , not a+b =xyx...
Then it has an internal logic. Magic means the imposition of an additional or an alternate set of natural "laws" , not the dissolution of rationality. The only reason magic is an enemy of reason in real life is that it quite obviously does not function.
If it were to function , an to function consustently, it would just be another subset of the laws of nature.

Magic is literally something that has no rules. If it can be quantified it is not magic.

...... no.Thats chaos.

Howitzer , why do you think there are Magic systems?
What do you think esoteric orders and mystic brotherhoods try to teach ? What is Feng shui, so-called practic Kabbala and Rune magic?
Magic systems may not WORK in the real world.. but they are full of rule sets, internal laws, conditions , causes and results. Thats quantifiable. It may, it almost certainly IS wrong in our real world... but to say it follows no logic is making rules for magic in games useless. Because then it comes down to ' people shouting at each other about what their magic can do and coming to no conclusion".
