Legend of Hyboria: Storm of Might and Magic (No SV, travel the Path of Power and Sorcery in the Hyborian Age)

The Final Preparations Part 3
The Final Preparations Part 3

(Alatu POV)

You nodded as you considered the many many options in front of you with what you can ask a Vampire who has lived through the time and suffering of empires.

He has seen the wars, the rise of Hyperborea and their powerful northern armies and the Cimmerian Migration that has come in the shadow of the collapse.

The Rise of the Empires, the loss of Magic and the knowledge of Atlantis, and more.

The Thousands of questions that would take you a lifetime to ask and answer.

"I'm going to need a drink when this is over aren't I?" You said.

He almost smiled at that. "I'll point you at a fine vintage before you leave."

-[X]His Plans: He clearly didn't go through all this trouble to take a city for the kicks?

"You clearly haven't done all of this for the kicks, a Vampire's cult doesn't worm its way into a city this openly without a plan or so chaotically." You said.

"Right you are, the sloppy work is a matter of taking advantage of the Governor's chaotic decisions as he deals with other threats, he considers greater than myself." He said calmly.

"There are things greater than you?" You said feeling the primal concern in the back of your head the small whisper of fear and agony. Something was worse than him now…and a part of you can feel it.

"There are alot of things more terrifying than me, Child of Man. At the end of the day even monsters are afraid of the dark." He said.

"And what does the city hold? That you risk your own safety?" You said.

"Old treasures buried deep, though not enough to be useful to you mage, its more,sentimental reasons for me than actual use." He said. "Its a hobby that my master lets me indulge in."

"So your building a library for him? You said,

"I've already done it years ago, moved it to safer lands far from hunters and fools, this is a personal project." He said. "Nothing more."

"I see." You said.

-[X]His Past: Who was he? Before the Vampirism.

"Before all this, in Acheron, who the hell were you?" You said.

He gave a killing glare, before realizing what you meant.

"Ah the past. Its been a long time since I've thought of it." He said, waxing nostalgic at the time long sinced passed into memory.

"My Name is unpronancable in most modern languages of this age, I am Lord Ezmos "Bloodhunter" Third Great Apprentice to the Legendary Archmage of Python, fourth holder of the amulet of Set , The Gilded Eye version not those cheap knock offs, and lord of the Iron Crossing" He said with a bow.

"Never heard of you in all the texts I've read." You said.

He raised an Eyebrow. "Surely you must have heard of the Great Bloodletter?"

"Nope." You said.

"What about the Great Rider of the Storm Dragon Demon Franys?" He said.

"Never heard of that." You said.

"I fought the Great Sage Pelias from Koth." He said.

"Oh…I heard he kicked your ass." You said.

"A great disappointment I have suffered, I swear. Is he still alive?" He asked.

"Last I heard…he wandered off somewhere. I think he was studying something, or thats what my Slave Master said." You said.

He nodded. "Well I became a vampire not long after fighting the great sage after getting the eye of a greater vampire, and I spent the centuries gaining knowledge, treasure and information in order to further my masters plans."

"Yet your not high on the Vampire caste arn't you?" You said.

"I have suffered indignities in the past that cast me into a slumber and only now will I be awoken…so yeah, a temporary embarrassment." He said.

-[X]His Knowledge: What had he learned about magic in his time, what was worth knowing?

He waved it off. "But you are wanting to know the levels of my knowledge…don't you." He said.

"Its only fair, Master." You said, giving him the respect a teacher should be given.

"I am an elemental controlling sort, focusing on the four classical elements, I can summon hellfire from my pact with a lesser demon and I can use blood magic, with enough energy…Does that Answer you question student?" He said.

"It gives me something to look forward to." You said.

-[X]The Govoner's Ring: You think mentioning the Governor's Ring will give…something you didn't know.

"The governor has a ring I've never seen before…" You started.

"One with a Green Delta on it?" The Vampire said, making a small frown.

"Yes." You said.

He gave a small chuckle. "Ahh, then he's an old tired Fool who thinks man are still masters of this world. Do not follow his path, it will only bring madness and pain for all of you welps."

"What is he then? A Cultest?" You said. "A Worshiper of an Elder Monster of the Elder Dark?"

He smiled. "It is far worse then that child, He is a man who thinks that Man can defeat the Dark places, the Monsters and the Evil of this world with might and power…he and his order cannot. Be wise and be like the rest of the sheep of Man and surrender to your fate…you cannot overcome Darkness itself, even with your fire."

And then was gone.

Reward: What is the Order of the Green Delta?

------------------------------------------

You sighed as the apparition vanished. "I'm dead…I'm fucking dead!"

This place has too many secrets to learn, and not enough time to learn them all.

You sighed. "Ibis…I don't pray to you, can never say the words, but I beg of you, give me a path forward so I may end this madness!"

A Gust of Wind came through the Vampire's Library…and the final candle was extinguished.

Alone in the Dark.

"Etheral Light" you said feeling the mana drain as the small light started to fly around you like a candle.

Well…you didn't expect this.

The Vampire in his arrogance gave you everything you needed.

You looked at the tightrope, "IS this SAFE!"

"NO WE NEED TO WORK ON YOUR BALANCE!" She said, walking across the tightrope of the clotheslines that dotted the city. "One foot in front of the other, and don't look down. It makes it harder."

She smiled. "Quick Study, you found an interesting opening and took it without telegraphing it.It takes months to figure out that trick."

"An observant thief is a successful thief as they say." You noted.

"Indeed, you are a fantastic man." She said. "Now… let's see how well you do in a chase."

The Hours passed and you were in pain, feeling the weight of everything.

Into the Blood Storm’s Eye Part 1
Into the Blood Storm's Eye Part 1

[X]The Blades of Ishtar and the Blood of Storm: So as it turns out we're in the middle of a Vampire Hunting Party and they wish to kill the cult and the Vampire they missed in their great purge. The Pay is good…as well as the Danger.

---------------------------

Taking the Plunge: D100 => 83

(Ezmos POV)

The Hunters had prepared for this…all of this, and you would not be yourself by not being impressed.

After all, in many years you've faced the holy orders of Ishtar and the hidden order of assassins from Hyperborea, and more, and yet for the quietest moment, you were beseeched by a feeling you haven't felt in years.

Fear …

Fear, such an old and tired friend that had come to roost within the recesses of your mind. It could not be the order of Ishtar's mary band, who had hunted your cult for many years.

No…it was something else.

The Old Monster Hunter was one that should never be taken for granted or treated as a nuisance. He had fought things even you could never have contemplated fighting and won all the time.

A Threat, but one that can be overcome…he was only human, and humans die so easily in this age, they thought their bones were steel, yet they broke like wood.

No…It was the Boy.

It was always the boy when you thought of the one that brings you fear…always the boy. Even when you think to the one with will, and the magic of Ishtar.
Why was it always the BOY? An Untrained boy who doesn't know the terror and powers at play in this terrible universe!!

He knows that he is insignificant, and sought to scream as loud as he can against the Outer Dark and take as much of its evil to hell with him!?

He was not doing this out of a misguided desire for good…or justice or some worthless god in the sky.

No…this was spite.

Spite and curiosity of how far he can go before dying!

It was so simple to defeat a man like this…yet so difficult at the same time.

You looked out of the window as the moon began to rise in the night as the light of torches began to illuminate the battle to come.

Let them come…
Yet deep within your undead heart, the fear of death gripped you like a vice.

-----------------------------------------

(Alatu POV)

You looked at your Ax as you took a deep breath in and out.

"First battle?" Raifail said as you nodded. "Steel your heart, you are not alone in this madness, and should we see the battle through to the end, you will know a free man's terror."

"Killing another man makes me free?" You said.

"No…but it does give you the experience to actually put some perspective in life, free men have to war all the time…and sometimes they come home with glory…other times, they come home missing limbs." He said.

"Or they die…I don't really understand why?" You said.

"Mostly honor and social connections, and a good payment of silver." He said. "That's how I started all of this."

"Really?" You said. "I thought you were born into power?"

"No one competent is born into Power, they have to earn it." He said.

"Now…lets go over your part in the plan." He continued.

---------------------------------------

Noa looked at you as you smiled. "I get a cut of his spoils. The larger one…"

"That is up for debate my friend. " She said.

"SO… you're going to hammer yourself a thieves guild, anything else?" You asked.

"Open a Tavern, the Real Estate should be cheap given how damaged the city is…plus I promised the old man to steal only from the outsiders." She said. "You know support the local economy and rebuild."

You then looked at your arms, "You sure I can sneak as well as you taught me?"

"Just remember not to get careless and use the moonlight and shadow to your advantage. The rest will click into place." She said.

She then tapped your shoulder,"Come now we've got the numbers to kill this monster and his ilk… don't worry."

---------------------------

You smiled as you ended the embrace with Emia. "Thank you for reminding me of a happier time."

"You have suffered too much for me to be disdainful to your choices Ibis-seeker. Ishtar teaches at least some degree of compassion for your worshipers. Especially since there are so few of you left." She said.

"What are they like? The Ibis worshipers who once ruled Stygia before Set killed them?" You asked.

Emia smiled, "I never knew them, but my grandmother and the Master of my Order told stories of wise and powerful scholars of learning, devoted to knowledge and improving the world with it. They were also a bit of big headed nuts with no sense of humor."

"...."You looked in silence.

"You had to have heard the story first hand." She said. "My Master is a better storyteller than I."

The silence reigned for several minutes before she spoke again.

"Alatu." She asked.

"Yes?" You asked.

"Whatever happens, do not allow yourself to be consumed by your own despair against the world, it is evil, yes, but we are still fighting against the darkness every day, even if it seems pointless. Never give into despair." She said.

"I promise." You said.

She nodded. "Good, now, battle awaits. We must go."

----------------------

What is your part of the plan of attack?:

[]You are with the Preist Nero: The Preist explained why you were with his Mob. "They are a lot of fools, and we are to direct them to break the Temple they have desecrated, that should hopefully give us time to kill the corrupted Prests and redeem us in Mithra's Eyes."
Meaning that the Old man wanted you out of trouble and dealing with the main organizers of his forces…smart.

[]You are with Noa and her Cutthroats: She smiled "We are going off to set off traps and kill their officers and funnel the mob to become, into a kill box with the Skirmishers." So you were going to raise chaos and confusion in the enemy lines, good.

[]You are with the Khuran Skirmishers: "The best way to get you to the Vampire is to hide you in plain sight." Hide among the Skirmishers and wait for the chaos of battle to give an opportunity to kill the Vampire…or his officers, whichever comes first.

[]You are with Emia and her Coven of Priestess: "It is time to have our Revenge…ISHTAR ETERNAL!" Oh, they were bathed in light and charging into battle, so thats what a battle priest is like? Neat.

[]You are with Raifail and his Personal Guard: "We kill a snake by crushing its head Alatu." He was going after the Vampire itself. Dangerous, but not insurmountable.

[]You are Alone: "Come to me Monster if you be as powerful as you claim!" This was a challenge, you were likely going to die fighting, but you would have it no other way.

AN: Enjoy and the battle begins!

Into the Blood Storm’s Eye Part 2
Into the Blood Storm's Eye Part 2

[x]You are with Emia and her Coven of Priestess: "It is time to have our Revenge…ISHTAR ETERNAL!" Oh, they were bathed in light and charging into battle, so thats what a battle priest is like? Neat.

(Alatu POV)

You looked at Emia and her coven as she and her group looked firm in light and practical armor, befitting the masters of Ishtar's will upon this earth.

"I don't believe in the Gods…" You said firmly as they looked at you. "Never have, and never bothered."

Emia nodded. "Well… you're getting that off your chest now?"

You shrugged. "Best to be honest with one's self before the battle." It was a sense of both clerity and in some cases, active self loathing.

"Night must end, that is the way of things, every god, every monster and every man must recognize that. Even the ones that are beyond even us." She said.

"I don't get what you mean Priestess." You said.

"Nothing is truly invincible…" She smiled. "Not even the Vampire."

You nodded.

"It is time to have our Revenge…ISHTAR ETERNAL!" Oh, they were bathed in light and charging into battle, so thats what a battle priest is like? Neat.

The half dozen or so priests moved faster then any man could and in doing so, left traces of light.

Piety Check: Understanding the Battle Aura
Rolled: D100 => 1+5 =6

All it did was make your eyes hurt as you saw a beautiful shadow upon your soul.

"NO PEEKING INTO THINGS YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN! SOULFLAME!"

You then fell to the ground in a daze, as you shook your head in pain.

Fuck…well lets ignore that shall we.

----------------------

Martial: Enter the Frey!
Rolled: D100 => 81+15(Martial) +15 (Equipment buffs)=111 vs D100 => 18+40 (Vampire Forces)=58

You followed the battle cries as you moved and began to battle, first came were the mass of peasants and mobs.

Each of these masses, fed propaganda and promises of food, wealth and power by the vampire were here to bog down the mass of soldiers and religious mobs.

It was a battle, one of fire, steel, iron and wood.

It was bloody, angery, and above all else cruel.

Were it any other circumstance, this would be a senseless waste of human life.

You raised your ax and charged, feeling the stones and dust bounce off your armor and helm.

*CRACK* The first ax swing cut through bones and flesh like a porcelain plate, feeling the life blood fall into the street like a calming drop of rain.

*CUT* The second swing was going through the muscle and cloth-like butter. Leaving the Lifeblood and brain matter across the land.

"SHATTER*

The final swing was made and the Crowd was dispersed…you had cut them down like straw men.

Reward: Vampire Forces Modifier lowered by 10.

Martial: Pushing back the tide
Rolled: D100 => 93+30=123 vs D100 => 41+30=71

Then the crowds rallied and smashed into the Vampire's little army with the fury of a winter storm.

Each charge by the enemy has been met with fire and steel. More and more of the enemies Number were ripped down and cast into the death their master promised would never touch them as long as they served.

You had reminded them of Mortality and that death came for all of them all the same.

Then the Skirmishers were unleashed…and charged as you slipped into the alleyways to your target.

-------------------------------

The Hunters Final Plung: D100 => 90 vs D100 => 79

You stood outside the Library as you saw Raifail and his guard meet you, "Emia and her coven will bring up the rear."

He nodded. "Good, if things go badly we'll have need of holy light."

"Is this place-" You asked.

"No…he's inside, preparing for his grand debut…we must hurry." He said.

"His empire is falling apart…why would he allow us to strike so easily?" You said.

"He thinks himself the hunter in this game." He said before showing the green delta on his tunic and mail. "But he is mistaken."

You nodded as the group prepared to make the plunge.

--------

What do you do Alatu?:

[]Cast a spell: You don't like this, best to prepare to cast a spell in case things go wrong.
-[]Write in which spell you wish to cast from your spellbook.

[]Go with Raifail: The Monster Hunter is likely the most dangerous man in the room, best stay close to him.

[]Prepare an Ambush: You know these halls, best to use them to lie in wait and take your opportunity to kill your opponent.

[]Wait for Emia: The Coven has yet to arrive? Best to stay and watch for them…in case things go wrong.

[]Lit a Torch and Search: The Library is rather large, a secret is hidden here, best find it before the Vampire can use it against you.

AN: Enjoy.

[X]Lit a Torch and Search: The Library is rather large, a secret is hidden here, best find it before the Vampire can use it against you.

(Alatu POV)

You breathed in, and ripped the drapes, and tied them to a torch.

"The Hell are you doing?" Emia said as she looked back to you.

"I'm going to look for his secret, and knowing the monster, best to take it from him before it can be used upon us." You said coldly as the woman nodded.

"Fine, but if you die because of it, what happens is on your head." She said as she ran off to rejoin the hunting party.

How very typical.

You then rolled your eyes. "I'll be careful."

Then you were left alone in the torchlight, as you searched feeling the energies that came from the old powers.

Intrigue: Traps, Circumstances, and Madness
Rolled: D100 => 25+15+5=45

You knew that he likely had a trap of sorts, but you could not find its nature or how it was activated.

All you have to do is survive the trap.

Learning: Finding the Secrets?
Rolled: D100 => 27+18+5 =50

The Energy was coming from a book in a small glass case…surrounded by Ghouls.

How Typical…

Duel System Activated!

Alatu Vs ??? Monster Round 1

Alatu: D100 => 100 +15+20=135

Vs

Monster: D100 => 64+30 (Monster)-15=79

The first group rushed you like a flailing mob trying to get the last loaf of bread from a vendor. Each one was old, likely something that Ezmos raised from the graveyard to augment his forces from the massive mob that somehow grew to be something of a threat to him.

With each swing of your AX you cleaved and hewed your way through to the book, cutting their armor and cloth to sew and rags. Each one was given the only mercy that could be given now…death was your mercy.

And you kept going in order to reach your prize.

Alatu Vs ??? Monsters Round 2

Alatu: D100 => 69+15+20=104

Vs

Monster: D100 => 60+30(Monsters)=90

The Smell is awful.

You kicked one away and cleaved it in half.

I hope none of you remember who you were…if only for your sake.

You embedded your ax into the skull of another.

And then…there is silence as you saw the Vampire stumble into view.

-------------------------------------

Ezmos Injury Roll: D100 => 63+30(Vampire)-40 (Holy Light damage)-10 (Physical damage) -15 (Delta Green Poison)=33

Wound Severity: D100 => 88 (Very Severe)

He was missing an eye, one of his feet was bleeding profusely and he was coughing up some form of black and green bile.

He was down a hand as well… a good show all around.

"Vampire." You said.

"And here I thought I was rid of all of you when I buried them alive?" He said with a cool glare from his remaining eye.

Occult: Detect life?
Rolled: D100 => 74+11=85

You didn't need to know that was a lie, but you could feel their life energies all the same. Buried under rock and dirt, hurt but alive.

"A piss job you did, I can still feel their life energies." You said tossing the torch to the stone floor with a thud. "You really out of it, or are you so reliant on your slaves that you can't even do the job properly yourself."

The insult hurt more than the wounds on his body did, he was getting angry now.

"I will deal with it." He said as the bile bled from his mouth.

??? Final Preparations
Rolled: D100 => 87 (Sucess)
An Ibis charm here of all places, its a sign.
"No you won't…because your marked to join your empire in hell, and I'm going to send you to it." You said moving your hand across his table of trinkets and bobbles.
You dashed your hand across the bobble, a small trinket from a priest of ages past seemed to smile as you took it in your hand.
He nodded. "Ahh, the way of things…One Spell each as is the tradition in the Sorcerors' Duel, the first strike, the only strike that matters will decide who lives and who will die."
You wern't a godly man…never were…probably never will.
"I am already well prepared for that." You said, feeling the whips and the chains that were cut into your skin.
But deep down, in this moment of terror and resolve you wanted to at least belive that something helpful was up there.
He smiled, it was a small bit of nostalgia that you had never seen on a man before,in this moment before everything he reclaimed some manner of life, as if this entire curse had led him to you.
Was it a fool's hope?
It reminded him so much of the life he had and he basked in the memory.
After everything you've been through, and seen? Why not start believing a little?
Each word and sign was cast, feeling the weight and fire of each of your souls ignite in power.

Who Hits first?:

D100 => 96+5 (Final Preparation) =101 vs D100 => 89+11(reduced vampire speed)=100

-----------------------------

The charge and clash were over in an instant.

You felt the claw hit your shoulder and burrow deep within your arm and bicep as he smiled "I wo-"

You could only grimace and smile as you saw his chest with your magically lightning-covered fist with a small religious charm in your hand.

"Return to dust." You said as the Vampire turned to dust and the vampiric spells and marks upon this city lost all of their power over it.

It was over.

What do you do now?

[] Try to dig out your companions: They are alive and it would be for the best that you try to get them out…if only to say you killed the vampire.

[]Find a Healer: Your shoulder and arm are bleeding you better get that looked at.

[]Pray to Iblis: "Thank you…"

[]Scatter the Ashes at a Crossroad: You want to make sure the damn thing is dead…you think this is what you do next.

[]Fall Unconscious: Okay…you think you've had enough excitement for one day…time to fall down and prey you wake up tomorrow.

AN: Sorry had to get this up late. Life happened.

Into the Blood Storm's Eye Finale

(Alatu POV)

[X] Try to dig out your companions: They are alive and it would be for the best that you try to get them out…if only to say you killed the vampire.

You rolled your eyes as you spat on the Vampire's ashes and then felt your heartbeat and the sticky copper feeling that was your blood.

I'm not dead… that's the damn miracle.

"Huh…Huff." You said, moaning in pain as you sighed. "Time to get them out."

You ran to find the right spot to dig them out.

Learning: Find where they are.
Rolled: D100 => 76+20-10 (Wounded)=86

Finding the stairwell was easy, and it was an old one, built into the library's early construction, mostly to hide the books and secrets within the underground, or more likely to steal them when the time was right.

It would be what you would do of course. But enough of that, the damage was apparent.

How bad is the burial Attempt?: D100 => 6

The Vampire's attempt to bury them alive was, to put it bluntly…terrible, it was poorly done, the dirt was mostly sand and small bits of dirt, and he likely planned to turn it into a way to hold them off and kill them in a ground of his choosing.

So it was…a good plan, done poorly.

Martial Check: Dig them out
DC:60
Rolled: 77+15-10(Wounded)=82

Despite the pain in your shoulder, you dug them all out of the hole they seemed to find themselves in and they seemed to hopefully look better than you.

How are they?

Raifail: D100 => 11

Despite everything, the Great Monster Hunter had been horribly wounded, his right foot missing and one of his eyes was swollen shut by bashing in a melee. He was not dead surprisingly… Emia had seen to that.

Likely his ribs were broken as well, his breathing was slow and labored, but it still happened.

He was stable, but he was not likely to make it without aid…

Emia: D100 => 83

Emia was trying to heal the wounded man, tears in her eyes as you saw the rest of the bodies, you gave a nod, as you handed over your belt and bandages to heal the man.

But she knew you had won…and you had earned her respect.

Noa: d100 => 40

Despite an impairment in the form of a broken arm, she seemed in good spirits, if one ignored all the stab wounds on her arm and torso.

But she lived and had a smile on her face.

The Rest of the Coven: D100 => 2

But the rest of the Coven, was dead, piled as bodies and pieces.

A casualty for the Greater good.

-----------------------------------------

Stewardship Roll: Stabilize Them
DC: 50

Rolled: D100 => 70+15=85

You worked with Emia to heal the Governor and Noa, it took time and with your help, they were stabilized…to a healthier issue.

You sat with Raifail as he awoke hours later. "We won."

He smiled in his pain. "Well done Sorceror. You earned your rank and privilege. Take your rewards."

You raised an eyebrow. "Sorceror?"

"You've earned it, even if you lacked the training. You've earned the title if nothing else." He said before he fell back asleep as Emia demanded.

It was a small thing, but to you, it was everything.

Noa…promised that she would find you and fuck your brains out as thanks for the biggest payday of her life.

You quietly asked her to raincheck that ambition because…well, she was still recovering and you had earned a title you had chased for years.

Reward: Your companions will survive and recover, some more than others…The Coven has been wiped out sans Emia.

---------------------

You sat outside watching the repairs to the city. Rafail was quiet as you saw him.

"I think you should stay…you've been good for me, surprisingly." He said.

You shrugged. "I need a mentor in the arcane, you are a monster hunter. I don't think you can teach me anymore."

He smiled. "If nothing else I can point you in the right direction. I owe you that much."

He handed you a map as you held it in your hands.

"Good luck." He said.

Reward: Alatu has officially become a Sorceror…kinda, he just killed a guy and took his rank. Not how it works…but still he beat someone who has done it for years.

Alatu gains the Trait, Sorceror (Rank: Neophyte): You are a Sorceror a Master of the Arcane Mysteries of the World, powerful, and well respected, they have powers that are beyond mortal men, but lesser than gods. (+2 Learning, Occult, and Martial +5 to all spellcasting rolls)

Sorcerors Ranking

Untrained->Neophyte->Novice->Apprentice->Journeyman->Sage->Master->Grandmaster-> Sorcerer's Suprime

--------------------------------------------------

You smiled as you finally went to rest eating a meal as you groaned with a wince in pain.

You were going to recover…but time would tell.

To The One with Fire within the Soul.

This Unseen Place is filled with Danger and Secrets...Do Prepare for the time you are ready to reclaim it.

From.

The Stormsinger.

You smiled.

Now things had come to a conclusion…it seemed.

The Blades of Ishtar and the Blood of Storm Complete.

Alatu gains +1 to all of his Stats.

AN: Enjoy the Many rewards that come from winning the Vampire War.

Give feedback.

A Brief Future Look: Setting Up
A Brief Future Look: Setting Up

(Adrain Tapes POV)

At least the Study session was almost over. Reading about Alatu...is weird.

You finished skimming the book Trajen was reading, "Gah, it reads like a pulp. How was translating that other tome?"

"So…we're not going to mention the time that Alatu literally fathered a new Demon line when he had relations with that Demonologiest's Succubi? The line that's one of the biggest threats in our line of work?" Trajan said as you looked at the books in the old man's library. "Because that one, was creepy, and I don't know what to say about it. Why did the old man make us read it."

"Yes a Shapeshifting, magic-wielding demon line, hey at least Buckshot can kill them because they aren't immortal." You said. "Also good job old man for making us not know about it until after we almost died. So any other interesting factoids about the "Legendary Sorceror of Man?"

"Gods above what about the time he led a revolt in the Northern Kingdoms, he pretty much threw down with the best of them," Ann said putting another book down.

"Yeah, though his travels and Journals in the far east are likely the most interesting escapades, well that or his time as Turan Judge." Frank finished.

You looked at him, what Tome was he reading?

"What I like Crime Dramas. " He said.

"There's a small footnote here. Some about being a blacksmith in Cimmeria for two years. I wonder what that's about." Ann said looking at the time that you were researching.

"The Guy was very weird when it came to being good at things, he was a blacksmith, a Demonologist, and was briefly a court official in Khatai, the guy got around for what its worth. Also notable for forging a few weapons used by us today...did you know he made the Blade of Ion?" You said.

"Wondered why the damn thing came with an instruction manual when it comes to cleaning," Trajen said. "Its not exactly easy."

"Yeah, Alatu has been an odd man based on the readings," Ann said.

Frank continued reading over Ann's shoulders. "The Sorceror Alatu had many students, sadly not all of them shared his sense of honor. And tragically in those cases he was forced to intervene."

You raised an eyebrow at Frank's comment. "Shit, how many did he actually kill?"

"Well, he killed eight, rather violently, and the other twelve he either maimed or sent to Delta Green." Frank continued. "He really wanted to make sure they were committed and or not part of a cult. He only had three students he considered successful going off of old records."

"Yeah, he kinda owed DG that, considering their healthy working relationship, and well, given his many issues from hunting monsters, I can't help but consider he had trouble connecting with people after a while." You said.

"Well...he was in the Hyborian Age, and they were built differently, to have PTSD in that time was, well you'd have to have seen some serious shit," Trajen said.

"Alright, who wants to choose the next codex on Alatu's Journey," Ann said.

"Who the fuck wrote all these down?!" You said.

"His fan club in the Argos Thieves Guild, apparently one of his first lovers was with them and they really liked the guy for helping expand their influence by causing chaos in the western kingdoms, allowing them to expand," Ann said.

Choose Alatu's Next Destination:

[]Alatu and the Iron Corsiers: Know this O Prince…. Of the Time Alatu went treasure hunting with some Argos Pirates looking for some old Atlantian Ruins to plunder and well, met some rather intriguing people and monsters along the way. (Alatu Travels to the City of Venzia, five months following his battle with the Vampire)

[]Alatu Storm Singer, and the Cimmerian Conclaves: Know this O Prince… Of the Time Alatu was forced to help some Cimmerian Shamans with a problem they needed some help with in exchange for information and blacksmith training. (Alatu Travels to the Cimmerian High Lands to get in touch with his Cimmerian roots and learn a practical trade, as well as learn of Nature's Power. He is a man grown at 18 now, and still thrusting for adventure.)

[]Alatu and the Asgardian Assult: Know this O Prince… Of Alatu's first war fighting as a Mercenary, against Hyperborea and meeting his first great challenge of his Mystical Might. (Alatu the Mage Mercenary goes into his first real war, at 20 he is in his prime)

AN: Enjoy.

Also meet the Framing Devices, Frank, Adrian, Ann, and Trajen, they are a DnD party set in the 1990s and are learning Alatu's story alongside you.

They've also read a few without you, hence the future hints... also they denote a Change of Story, as we move from Alatu's battle with a vampire to another story in "Alatu's Canon".

And yes, Alatu gets a fan club in the Argos Underworld, as he causes Chaos wherever he goes and they follow to profit off it.
