"Date?" The dragon raised her eyebrow showing that she does not know the meaning of the word.
Hikaru lifted his head, his eyes meeting the beautiful crimson dragon's emerald colored eyes.
It looked like using a modern earth term in a medieval world was not a good idea, he really should have asked Erika more about this world before jumping it right into the dragon's nest. Although no one can blame him for jumping straight into a dragon nest it was a dragon nest after all.
"Simply said, I'm attempting to court you." Hikaru said bluntly, there is no use trying to be subtle here. A dragon is in front of him, he will put his all into this.
"What..." The dragon eyes widened maybe because of surprise or disbelief and then a slow rumbling sound was heard.
The crimson dragon scaly lips slowly twitch upward into a smile.
Hikaru thought the smile was cute.
"Haha... hahahahahaha!" The cave shook as the dragon laugh while rolling on the ground, maybe because it was its massive size but the cave seemed to move as the dragon moved.
"You're serious?" The dragon wiped the tears from her eyes. "Have the humans become so desperate that they decided to resort to seduction as a last ditch of effort?" The dragon voice was filled with ridiculed.
"No." Hikaru said firmly, making the dragon look at him. "I do not try to court you under anyone's order, nor do I try to because I'm trying to save myself." Hikaru walked closer to the dragon, he reached his arms to take a hold of the dragon massive claw. "I do this because I, Hikaru Ryuuichi fell in love at first sight with the crimson dragon Tiamat!" Hikaru declared with certainty. "And I'm sure that it was fate for me to be summoned to this world and for me to meet you, my beloved crimson dragon Tiamat." Hikaru paused for a moment. "I can call you by your name right, Tiamat?"
The dragon, dumbfounded, nodded. Hikaru was happy he could make such progress in such a a short time.
"So, will you accept my date offers?" Hikaru asked.
"..." Tiamat stared at him for a moment.
"Let me think about it first, can you come back tomorrow?" Tiamat said blankly.
Hikaru resisted the urge to cheers and just nodded. "Will do." He turned around and left the cave while Tiamat stared at his back silently.
Erika was still waiting for him at the entrance of the gold mine, resting against the wall of the entrance; she was wearing a grim expression and a tense aura surrounded her.
She noticed that Hikaru was coming out of the cave and ran toward him, fidgeting with her fingers. "So, have you succeeded in defeating the dragon?" She asked him. "The earthquake was pretty strong, I was worried that the fight you had with the dragon would bury you alive with it." She paused. "But it looks like you did not receive a single wound after fighting the dragon, as expected of the chosen being humble about his own magnificent power!" She concluded.
Hikaru smiled innocently, though he could feel a sweat trickle down on the back of his head. "I haven't captured the dragon yet." He really can't say that he just comes in to confess and that the earthquake was caused by Tiamat's laughter after all...
"Oh..." Her shoulder dropped, it looks like he did not meet her expectations.
"I will try to come back tomorrow to try again." Hikaru said, after all the dragon did not completely reject him so he's still got a chance.
"Oh, you will?" Erika brightened up.
"Yeah, by the way can I borrow some money? I have to bring something for tomorrow's battle." Not giving your date a gift is a poor dating practice after all.
"Are you going to buy equipment to fight the dragon? If so I can lend you my magical sword, it is one of the strongest on the kingdom." Erika draws the sword on her hips from its sheath.
Hikaru shielded his eyes as the white glow of the sword almost blinded him. "Put it back!" Hikaru said hastily, he could feel burning sensation on his skin, the light from the sword is not just for show, it also emitted heat. It was truly a magical sword.
He (would have? could have?) died if he had so much as touched the handle with his finger.
Erika immediately sheathed her sword. "Sorry." She apologized. "If only you were summoned with your sword as the spell described... but don't worry! I will accompany you to the best blacksmith in the village." She smiled reassuringly.
Hikaru however did not feel assured as he just wants to buy a flower bouquet for Tiamat, though one thing perked his curiosity.
"What is this sword are you talking about?" She did say that the summoned hero who was supposed to slay the dragon would bring a sword with him.
Erika looked at him with mixed expression. "My grandfather said that the summoned hero and the sword were an inseparable thing, the sword was the ultimate anti-dragon weapon and no dragon would be able to withstand its power no matter how powerful they are, even if the dragon has skin harder than adamantine, dragon with claws so sharp that could severe mountain in two, or had physical strength is so immense that lifting the entire world is no problem for it and even if the dragon was practically immortal it would is still be no match for it." Erika explained.
Hikaru gulped, how the hell was he supposed to be summoned with such powerful weapon?
"The script said that the sword could only be unleashed when there is nothing stood between the dragon and the hero, less the destructive power of the sword may claim collateral..." Erika drawled out, seemingly fantasying about the sword itself. "The legendary sword was called..."
"The Dragon Boner."
