Since nothing in this world can really be a threat to us save the Nephilim and the dragons, of course it has to be giant slabs of carved stone that become the greatest enemy of the Zeruel/Malakim.
The Greil Mercenaries are the protagonists of the Fire Emblem Tellius duology.
As for how the quest would work I have touched on it in occasional posts. Basically you pick a Malakim at the beginning, and which one the thread chooses affects the point you enter the story and how the votes are weighed.
With the amount of hypothetical we're looking at here this draft does not technically exist.
The Greil Messenger. (Evangelion/Fire Emblem Tellius)
(Sequel to King of the Messengers)
The continent of Tellius is a troubled one. The Empire of Begnion has not only recovered from its defeat in the Continental War, but is stronger than ever. The island kingdoms of the Bird Laguz, Phoenicis and Kilvas, engage in ceaseless piracy and raiding against ships and coastline. The Beast Laguz of Gallia snarl at their Beorc neighbors. And the Dragons of Goldoa remain as isolated as always.
Our story, however, concerns the two Beorc nations of Crimea and Daein. Once these two kingdoms were united under a single king, but through inheritance and treason the United Kingdoms of Daein-Crimea were split in two. Ashnard, the King of Daein, has mobilized his armies, and many among Daein's neighbors believe they know who he intends to unleash them at…
The year is 645, and the Mad King's War is about to begin.
But…how do you fit into this, Malakim?

Options that 'Have nothing to do with the story' are those that would render anything but the RD endgame an effortless stomp (or just too difficult to justify/write for).
We left an Armisael and a Sandalphon on that colony that almost had an outbreak, I doubt we're going to get both of them without the problem becoming a possibility first.
That's Fire Emblem Awakening, not the Fire Emblem Tellius games.
Though that does make me think...The only Malakim that would be able to get into the marriage (and related stuff) deal would be a Tabris. Or, hilariously enough, a Bardiel. Imagine, Henry's delight! Tharja and Miriel's fascination! Panne agreeing to a loveless breeding agreement to restore her species that results in Bardiel becoming a huge sack of meat that pumps out Taguel in exchange for scraps of its "wife's" affection...
Wait, that last one wasn't hilarious at all. That's friggin' depressing is what that is.
Well we got involved in a few at least and the epilogue basically has us marching on Ashera's tower without any regard for anything save our need for answers.
Almost two hundred years ago, during the height of the Tellius continental war, the great Melek of Eden, Al-Zeruel, awoke as he had done myriad times in the past. Even with the war raging on the continent, the Tabris city states had opened trade with the Lilim nations of Tellius, and voices were raised in favor of reform and modernization.
With Al-Zeruel's authority and resources behind them, the Tabris Council of Eden began great projects to bring Eden to the level of the Tellian countries. The military was reformed and modernized, trade agreements and diplomatic relations were forged between Eden and the Tellians, the infrastructure of the Holy Land was vastly improved, the holdings of the Temple Hierarchy were reorganized, and Eden eventually established colonies on the islands to the west.
In the midst of all these events, Eden was drawn into the Continental War through a small trade conflict with the Empire of Begnion. Entering the war on the side of Begnion's enemies, the charge of the massed Greater Malakim caught the Empire by surprise and ended the war later the same year.
Edenic explorers traveled far from their home, eventually making contact with a powerful nation dominating the Far West: The Jade Empire. The Emperor of this distant land would later give Al-Zeruel a gift as part of a trade agreement, a substance known as 'gunpowder'. Using this substance, powerful weapons could be created.
However, Al-Zeruel withdrew to the innermost chamber of his castle after three decades of rule, leaving Eden without him in a changing world. As his slumber went on, for far longer than it ever had before, several of the Tabris City States began to openly defy the traditional council that had until then ruled in the Melek's absence. Without Melek Al-Zeruel to cow them into submission, the feuds, conflicts and other issues between the Tabris boiled to the surface. Gunpowder weapons and the knowledge of their creation made their way to Tellius, the traditional council powerless to enforce its edicts to the noncompliant City States. This state of affairs eventually led to a full scale civil war between the Tabris. The Greater Malakim remained neutral without Al-Zeruel to command them.
The Civil war ended in victory for the Council, but it still crippled Eden for the better part of a century. And now, more than one hundred and sixty years after Melek Al-Zeruel retreated into seclusion, does our story begin…
I'm thinking to have them act like bowguns mechanically, guns having replaced them for the most part at this point in time, maybe with tiers, maybe have their damage modified by SKL.
Restricted to Eden I am afraid. Only the name, mind, almost nothing the Sacred Band does is unique to them, so a Tabris would be able to promote to a class that uses Sacred Band techniques. The Advanced Class just wouldn't be called Sacred Band.
At this point the Sacred Band isn't a martial monastic order as much as a separate faction within Eden with its own land holdings, army and administration in central Eden, mostly to keep the bickering of secular Tabris authorities from involving the House of God.
"Seriously, Samson, this has been going on for too long." Said the captain to the groaning sailor at her feet. Their ship had just made port in the Crimean harbor of Toha, westermost of the Crimean coastal cities, and the afflicted Tabris moaning on the deck had been acting strangely since they left Eden. "You have been shambling around the ship, refusing to eat, the list goes on. What in God's name has gotten into you?"
"Can't remember." Mumbled the sailor as he clutched his head in a vain attempt to ease his crushing headache. The last thing he could remember before waking of to the sight of the Lilim port was the walk towards the ship during a misty Edenic morning...
******
It had been in cities before, but never a Lilim city. The sights, smells and noises reminded it of the little it saw of Enoch while in its current state, but that city had been full of its lesser half-siblings and not-
A hand brushed its shoulder at the same time a voice spoke at it in the Lilim language. "Hey, are you alright? You look lost-"
Its head snapped about a full one hundred and eighty degrees to look at the offending Lilim, completely ignoring the body's protesting vertebrae as it did so. The Lilim was male, and had taken a step back at the sight before it. Nonono attention bad!
"I AM A PERFECTLY NORMAL HUMAN BEING!!!" It shouted as loud as it could make the body shout before snapping the body's head back with a blood-curdling crack and running off. The body got tired after it made it run halfway across the city, but it ignored the body's protests.
It could always find a new one.
******
Zihar could only stare open-mouthed after the fleeing woman. What the hell was that?

And with that I think it is time we declare ourselves finished here. It might get a sequel, but I won't promise anything.
