Killing with Silence (L5R/Exalted)

[X] Shadowed Boughs. To the east lies the Kitsune Mori, an impenetrable woodland dominated by trickster fox-spirits and their mercurial allies. They know more than most could about your new status, but convincing the cruel and mischievous spirits to share their knowledge will be an ordeal.

kon kon motherfuckers

[X] Wolf's Echo. To the north is Red Lake, so named for the colour it turned after a dreadful battle long ago. The spirits of fallen warriors could lend you great strength and replenish your lost resources, but most are feral and monstrous, and the remainder will demand service in kind for their aid.

No foxes. I'm sick to death of foxes.

We voted for ghosts, and ghosts we shall receive.

Summer's Kiss sounds like a free but basic tutorial: we'd get the basics of our condition but no more than that, and then probably would have to deal with some Scorpions who have pacts with local gods. And, like, fuck that noise. Scorpions are the most insufferable clan, they're only good when you have the option to flip their carefully arranged table and eat their faces, like Lord Moon did here, and we're really not at that level yet.

Kitsune is an OK option (if kinda outside of our aesthetics), but I have to question people voting for it because it's a "known threat" and we "won't pay an unknown price". Like, come on. It's specifically an option for being misled and manipulated, possibly tricked into making hard bargains or turned against people we have no beef with because it's amusing to foxes. It's full of unknown dangers. Which is good narratively, mind, just not something you'd want to vote for if your goal is hedging bets.

It sounds like the most straightforward option, good for a beginning.

Nice start. I'm not even surprised Scorpions do this kind of stuff.

[X] Summer's Kiss. The road to the west leads from Kyuden Bayushi to the southern border of the Scorpion lands, and is always free and clear, untouched by snow even in the depths of winter. The divinities responsible will shelter and train you, demanding no price, but are bound in ways you cannot hope to understand.

I mean, it's free stuff. What more can you say?

I'm going to have to object here specifically because one, Yasu's aesthetic is going to be decided by votes we take here, and two because it's not even true. Yasu is a medium, one who can see spirits; those are elemental spirits and little gods as well as the spirits of the dead. Rokugan is full of unquiet dead spirits but it's also an animistic setting full of small kami and local spirits as well as powerful divine entities. A shaman would be able to negotiate and treat with all manner of spirits and resolve any problems caused by a mischievous kami of the woods as much as those caused by the thirst for revenge of a long-dead victim of a wicked daimyo.

Also Lord Moon seems to expect something of Yasu by naming them his Oracle. Being the Oracle of Lord Moon is definitely a part of Yasu's aesthetics now and the kitsune are the best lead on finding out what exactly that entails.

I actually think this is a straightforward difficulty setting vote. :V

Summer's Kiss: Easy. Wolf's Echo: Medium. Shadowed Boughs: Hard.

Wolves are cool. That is why you should vote for them.
