"You, who wished for power" Says a soundless voice. It seems like it is coming from all around you, like some sort of unnatural echo, resounding within the very core of your being. "We shall give you your truest wish, deep in your heart of hearts".
As the silent sound dies down and your soul's strings still vibrate from it, you open your eyes for what feels like the first time in millennia. A white, featureless void spans around you, with no boundaries in sight, and your body is but a bright iridescent silhouette, with nothing in particular identifying whoever you might have once been.
You panic at first, fumbling around the infinite plane where you, at the very least, seem to be able to walk normally, and then, as you set your sights to the unformed sky, a small point of red light explodes outwards like a supernova. Your whole vision turns scarlet, and you feel as if you are falling into an eternal, bottomless abyss.
While the numbness in your limbs lessens and your sight begins to return to normal, you see that your form is now clearer, if completely naked. You are...
[] A young boy.
[] A young girl.
The last shreds of rainbow-colored light begin to melt and reform into what seems to be some sort of school uniform, and as it wraps around you, you recall your last moments: the event that marked the start of it all. It was your sixteenth birthday, and you were about to enter in the closed off realm of science that is Academy City.
This was going to mark your start as a possible Ability User, if you Experimental Curriculum went well enough. You heavily doubted your chances, as it was popular knowledge that most, if not all of those who reached high levels in their Ability started as young children. Still, you went anyways, because...
[] You were recognized as a young intellectual prodigy, and the City's Administration especially sent an invitation to join one of its many scholarships, as it usually does. You relished the chance to develop your talents.
[] You are the latest scion of a big industrial conglomerate, and your family has pulled quite a few strings to get you in this late in your education cycle. You dreaded the thought of disappointing them.
[] You are an undercover spy for a small magical order in Europe, which took you in when you needed it the most, and gave you hope to keep on living. You knew that going through the City's experiments will make it practically impossible for you to use what you were taught ever again, but it was worth the risk. You meant to put your pride as a Magician on the line.
[] You always considered yourself normal, plain even, except for that one accident which happened a few years ago. There was talk of it being paranormal in nature, and some organizations even held you as one of the possible sources of the "anomaly", but in the end it all fizzled out. You wondered if this could make the weirdness you felt back then resurface.
The bizarre dream-like experience dissipates like morning mist, and as you regain consciousness, sitting in the advanced coffin-like machine the city's staff put you in, you are left with the feeling that the vision you just had may mean more than the other, hypnosis and drug induced one you had until now.
A woman in a lab coat hurries to your side, and while you still can't hear what she says over the ringing in your ears, you accept the paper cup she offers you. Surprisingly...
[] The water inside freezes solid as you touch it, your hand sticking to its frosted surface. You're some sort of thermokinetic.
[] The cup implodes violently when you touch it, turning into a ball and splashing water all over you. You must be a telekinetic!
[] You have a glimpse of the woman's mind as your fingers lightly brush hers while she passes the cup to you. It must be telepathy!
[] Write in.
