Allow me to translate:

"This heroic trailer set to soul-swelling music about the glorious exploration of space is not interesting. What's interesting is the colossal, monumental catastrophes you can generate through reckless gameplay, and if you want to impress me, you need to show me all of the new and incredibly whacky ways you can send my flapping, spiralling rockets into the side of a mountain like a jet fueled lawn dart."

I mean, that's the joke. Hence why stuff keeps collapsing and exploding in the trailer.

Honestly the joke might have been even more effective if nothing had gone wrong, because the contrast of the Interstellar-esque visuals and indie film synth-pop post-rock trailer music with the Kerbals is so obviously silly, but it might give the wrong impression to people who aren't familiar with the series.

I'm actually getting back into KSP1 after this announcement- I figured out some of the stuff that got me giving up in frustration the first time around (the quick version is that what direction the part you control from is facing matters).

Definitely looking forwards to colonisation stuff being in the base game instead of using mods lol :p

I really hope that even if they're going to add interstellar flight, that they add more content to the Kerbol system as well.

I'm afraid if they don't, then I'm afraid most of the really interesting new environments is going to be locked to the very end of the tech tree.

They seem pretty set on not radically changing the Kerbol system too much. The most radical change I expect to see is more detailed looks, and actual physical ground clutter, but that's about it.

Then I'm afraid that's really going to tilt the balance of where the content lies. Is the phase of the game where you're flying around a single system going to be a minority of the game? Or are these amazing new worlds going to be locked away until the very end? At the very least, they should add a ringed planet to Kerbol, imo.

It's not like you have to play with a tech tree in KSP1, and I don't see why that would change.

From what I gathered from what the devs have said, and how they've described things. It seems like Every new system has unique challenges that they want you to overcome. So I don't think you'll be sticking around in kerbal for most of the game. I can't see them putting all this work into fancy new planets and forcing you to stay in Kerbol grinding for science.

Maybe that won't really matter for the people who play sandbox, but for people who do Career or science I'm just afraid the tech tree is going to flatten out right after you unlock interstellar flight.

Also, this is probably going to end up an unpopular opinion, and the game will probably be fun regardless of it, but spending the better part of the game flying between star systems just seems out of the spirit of things, since it's so far beyond what were capable of now.

Tbh playing the first game- and *finally* properly getting into it- I am looking forwards to a better-optimized game. :V

So, there's been a bit of a controversy...

Kerbal Space Program 2 studio shuts down after losing the project to Take-Two

Basically, Take-Two terminated their contract with Star Theory, and created a new studio to do it themselves. In the process, they poached a number of Star Theory's employees.

The pandemic closed them off from making any new connections, so now Star Theory has shut down.

As I understand it, Take -Two was negotiating to buy Star Theory, and when those talks didn't go to their liking they just tried to hire the employees (Star Theory's primary asset) directly.
