Have we heard about these "Energies" before? What would "Accrue Energies" do then? Also, I still would like to have a summary of what each stat does.

+I would like to see the giant monster with stumpy feet trying to "talk" with the military guys.
Also, we need to recruit more disciples ASAP.

For stats there was a brief unstickied summary earlier. Energies are basically growth points- you earned some for being on the winning team vs. Lord Of Black.

I'm a little unsure about this, is the 2 out of 6 how far until we rank up in size to 7?
Speaking of which- yes, those are the two Energies you have unspent, and you need 6 to progress to the next Size. You get an extra bonus every 5th rank, for a bit of customisation as people learn the mechanics.

...

49.9? That's... A d100 should average 50.5.

(add 1 to 100. 101. Half that is 50.5 2 to 99 is the same. Repeated till you run out of numbers. If you roll every number once your average is 50.5 on a d100)

Day 6.2- i accidentally The Fabric Of Reality
Stay in the military base until repairs are finished.

You easily decide that no, going to sit in the middle of a construction site will be neither comfortable nor helpful.

It's somewhat disappointing, but that's not your role in this relationship- your job is to be helpful and reap the benefits, not skip straight to the latter half. Besides, this place is pretty nice as well. Not as homely- the smell of the earth, the roots coming from the ceiling, the candle-lit art in the dark... It made you feel secure. Your own little safe haven. But the military base is also cool and comfortable, and quite secure for different reasons.

The personnel are pretty polite too. Not the kneeling and bowing and soothing hymns you prefer, but the camaraderie is still a rather pleasant feeling. They're not comfortable with you. But they appreciate you being here. For the most part, at least.

Sometimes one of them comes in and leans on you or tells you about how much they're missing someone. It draws your mind back to the soldiers dissolving under the force of a god's shriek.

Fortunately for the world, there's better gods out there than that one.

Inquire into Energies- Inquiry roll- 24 + 7 (Thinking) = 31, Bad.

Speaking of which, if you're ever going to be a proper kaiju you need to learn more about that... stuff you subconsciously looted from everyone's least favourite drowned chicken. (It is not a particularly large list that said bird is on the bottom of. But it is still on the bottom of that list.)

As you are tromping about for the lead cultist, however, Unperterbed Aide suddenly steps into your path with the expected unperterbed look. A slightly-raised eyebrow accompanies a request for exactly where you're going.

Being a giant monster, of course, this is not a particularly easy question to answer. Instead you settle for setting him on your back with one of your tails and continuing to tromp freely. You are as free as the wind. A particularly heavy, chitin-laden sort of wind. That happens to be a kaiju.

Forgotten metaphors aside, he does give you a convenient person to ask when you arrive at your destination.

The cult leader immediately begins his profuse apologies, but the aide waves it off. The man is a true professional- 'professional' meaning 'ignoring both comfort and small talk whenever possible'. With both parties settled again, you begin asking questions.

"Ah, gigavinial energy?" the cult leader says as you ask. "There's still a lot of scientific debate on what it is and where it can be found, but what is known is that it's present in all kaiju and does..." He shrugs. "Something that supports their large size, and they absorb it to grow bigger. The name itself means 'Giant's Wine' in latin." You pause your body for a second. "Ah, latin is a language used by an ancient empire that was synonymous with greater civilisation back when the scientific method was first being widely used. A lot of scientific words are made from latin equivalents."

"They're found in... Do you still remember this stuff from school, James?" he says. The aide is called James, apparently.

"Of course, Mr. Andrewson," the aide replies, talking as if he were the world's most boring professor. "And a lot more. It's currently accepted that the Primary Reality here intersects with other Condensed Realities. Other gravitational bodies intersect with alternate versions, but it's currently accepted that the Dreamscape- where Deities come from- and the Mindscape-" A pause as he turns to address you- "our term for your home realm- are all joined together by gigavinial energy, much as a solar system is joined by gravitational energy.

"We're still researching a lot of things," he adds. "You'd have to ask a scientist, preferably one of the ones on-site studying the stuff, if you wanted to know more than school facts."

To summarise- It's probably space glue for both kaiju and reality alike. What this actually means on your behalf is not exactly known.

With a nod to thank them for their assistance, you return to your shelter.

The doors are easily closed, and- thinking to your past efforts at... basically everything- you decide to stay in the centre of the room, far away from anything resembling a structural support.

Then you begin to focus.

Your real-senses fade out as your own Energies fan out, searching. It feels like the surface of the water when gently touched- soft, cool and just barely reaching out to meet your chitin. But it is not static, no. It drifts, and there are little dimples in it. Perhaps...

Ah! You catch one. Slowly you force your energies into it, breaking the surface, working your soul's way into the refreshing lake below...

Accrue Energies- 4, Critical Failure!

...and touch the lakebed.

You were probably correct to stay in the middle of the room.

It doesn't explode, though. It implodes.

For a brief moment reality is torn asunder. Behind it is not the Void you are familiar with. No, it's whatever is behind that- some sort of World Without. Without what? Without anything.

A pure black mass of snapping teeth pushes its way through in the milliseconds before the Energies slam the hole shut. And you do not like the look of it.

It launches itself, taking you by surprise- but you bring up your carapace just in time, deathly cold claws sliding from your armour without purchase. It opens its mouth to scream- but its roar is the absence of sound. Whatever it is, it's your equal in size- and something just makes you want it gone. Apart from the fact it attacked you on sight.

A deep bass rumble is let loose from your spiracles, banishing the silence. You throw it off, and as it unscreeches you move to counter-attack.

Attack roll- 7 + 4 (Violence) = 11, Terrible.
WE ARE UNTOUCHABLE- 99 + 4 YOU ARE SOFT = 103, OUR SKILL MAKES US SUPERIOR
-5 degrees success- Baal'Golesh gains 25 Agony on its next Physical roll!

You swing a great claw, preparing to skewer it. It spots the attack coming- instead of an easy target, you find yourself being dragged off your feet as it catches your blow. Suddenly you're on your side, flailing, curling your tails below yourself to try and protect your soft underbelly.

You get the distinct impression that it is going to try and murder you as much as possible. You can make it run. You can make it die. But you cannot make it stop killing.

Nothing can.

But merely existing is a drain on it. And if you land a hit? It's going to cause some strain. As far as you can tell it's just a patch of non-existence supporting itself with Energies- tear it apart and those sweet, juicy morsels of growth juice are yours for the taking.

WE DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU ARE

It is also distinctly unreceptive to the ideal of mutual understanding, even if it's just on a tactical level.

how did this even happen. Seriously I was planning for this to happen some other time than right now.

Anyway, I'm going to go DO STATISTICS on a bunch of dice rolls. Now, it's going to be an average of 50.5 distributed in space, approximated to a normal distribution due to being a Poisson distribution with a large value of λ...

Actually wait no I can just find a mean. 50.9 is about right.

Also we got no luck. Pin it down and squash it

The Dice Roller doesn't consistently roll low. That's not the problem.

This is the problem. We roll low, and our enemies roll high.

The dice roller isn't flawed, it's malicious.

And this is why dice in Blossoms of a Divine Tree are only used to choose between different options, rather than me randomizing training rates or anything...

So, with a Critical Thinking result, our Abomination... Discovers that entity is anti-natural, is hostile and that hurting it will make it disappear...
Perhaps Baal is not as smart as they though.

Also, has the accidental tear in reality created side-effects our character can't see right now (ie: Invasion of angry ghosts attacking the military)?

Jesus, our luck is amazingly terrible.
The quest is pretty great so far though, although I do agree that luck is a bit too important.
