*shrug* It's impossible to say what happened, since we didn't see it and we don't get to see Marc/Steven ever ask Layla what she saw. The impression I get is that Jake has all of Marc's skill and zero restraint. It's also possible that he's learned to use Moon Knight powers that Marc hasn't.

Best way to describe the three as well along that is

Marc is the best at being the warrior/soldier, but has issues with his trauma and fear of needlessly killing people. He is able to maintain the most discipline in battle but has to deal with Stephen consciously and Jake unconsciously when he is losing the fight badly

Stephen has the most morals and kindest of the bunch but also hates shedding blood. He is also the negotiator when you need to talk to someone and don't want a body count

Jake is the Hitman/Assassin, when you want someone killed, he is your man. But he doesn't have a stop button until he or his enemies are dead and a temper to match when things don't go his way. He also lacks Marc's confidence, getting twitchy and violent when things go pear shaped
