You look at the clerk in frustrated exasperation. The paperwork -- the very same papers that you carried all the way from your small town (or large village compared to the more urban places you have seen), through fields of fire, over mountain passes and around lakes of Ice-metal, months of alternately mind-numbingly boring all day walks and excited terror that is bouts of Flight or Fight against the wildlife -- got lost inside its final destination... by traveling ten meters between three paper-pushers.

You are very much not amused at the sheer incompetence this... hellhole has shown to you so far. Even the Temple of Infinite Vexations was a better experience and ants had a tough time limbo-ing under that very low bar. You give the clerk your best Killing Intent Aura (that you learned on the sojourn to this very place) promising his end will be slow, painful, slow, agonizing, slow, public and very well publicized. Also slow.

Sadly this behavior of yours is the norm as the clerk literally brushes off your aura as if it was an annoying fly. He hands you the replacement paperwork, all blank, for you to fill out. All fifty pages.

You cursed the gods, spirits, demons, anything and everything else that could have caused this disaster for you. You especially curse the clerks over a dozen times.
An hour later, you finally start on the papers, though it was long after your throat got raw.

Okay, it has been long enough.
Rolling to see which plan wins...
Even for Plan cecil, Odd for plan Aster
And the number is...

Edit: I got 2 different rolls from one click of the mouse...
I may need a new mouse, but that is beside the point.
Plan Cecil wins...

Edit2: and from the description, Cecil is a Capitalist MAGE! (the caps are important!)

@RadioactiveSpoon Do you want me to grab some photos about Cecil's appearance or do you have a specific look in mind?

Character introduction part 1
(We have a MAGE!Recetter here and a proto-Saitama on SB; both are skilled with spears. Hilarity will probably ensue.)

You narrated your answers to the questions on the stack of papers. "I am Cecil Falkner, age 23, most definitely male. I live in the village of Upper Cornix, called such because, at the time of its founding, the town was on a hill. That hill, along with the mayor's house and the entire 'rich' part of town, sank into Cornix Lake a year ago during a massive rain-storm. The rest of the town laughed.

"I apprenticed with the merchants because of my people skills and quick wits. I also wanted to gather enough money to start my own caravan; probably a spice carrier, those are quite lucrative. My mother is the prayer-leader of the local temple and as such thought it would be obscene for her children to not know about the pantheons and their associated literature. I thought it was a waste of time, but it seriously helped in convincing others to buy my part of products at the market. My father is a wood-wright at the harbor, making sure the docks and the ships are properly maintained to keep the coins flowing.

"I learned how to use a spear and a crossbow, partially because dealing with a... problematic marauder is much easier when they are far away, and because I do not have that much strength compared to most of the other adventurer-candidates and a crossbow does not care if you have armor. I was told that I have a strong 'gift' for magic from the local biomancer. I was also taught some techniques for maintaining both my spear and crossbow from my father and his colleagues at the docks. With the exception of scars, I look very much like my father."

Glancing at the quite long shadow to your right, you gather the large stack of papers and prepare to head back to the Bloody Hart Inn; ironic considering that you frequently saw your reflection on the polished wood and the inn's claim that you could eat off of their floors and the crumbs would bounce back to your mouth. You only heard that last part happening but that was when the Arch-Mage of the Platinum Tower was showing off his control of gravity. Tomorrow would be... unpleasant, for they would be testing your mettle to determine your 'stats' and see if you were fit to be an adventurer.

*******************
Three people, please roll four dice two different times for DnD stats; keep top three.
Potential starter classes: Rogue, Wizard, Sorcerer.

So we got two 15's from Cornix, jaiveer got us a 10 and a 12 (it is roll 4 take 3), and Spoon also has 12 and 10.

Character classes (mostly for setting the basic character archetype). Choose one,
[ ] Ranger (they have magic)
[ ] Bard (mostly support magic)
[ ] Sorcerer ('tainted' magic)*
[ ] Wizard ('pure' magic)*

* tainted and pure refers to the natural element of your magic, tainted meaning that your magic will always have one particular element in its composition thus limiting the combinations and spells in exchange for larger reserves, and pure meaning there is no restriction to what you elements you can add.

For SB's Plan Plain John rolling purposes. :D
Grosstoad threw 4 6-faced dice. Reason: Plain John Total: 19
6 6 2 2 6 6 5 5
Grosstoad threw 4 6-faced dice. Reason: Plain John 2 Total: 12
2 2 2 2 5 5 3 3

Okay calling it, Sorcerer wins.
working with DnD rules for character creation... use these numbers for the stats below: 15, 15, 12, 12, 10, 10

Strength (carrying capacity)
Dexterity (dodging)
Constitution (hp)
Intelligence (creativity)
Wisdom (magic defense)
Charisma (magic offense)
[ ] write in plan

Bloodline (more specifically what ancestor influenced the genetics the most)
[ ] Outsider (random)
[ ] Dragon [less powerful than DnD versions, more akin to powerful elementals]
-[ ] Choose (Fire, Steam, Water, Plant, Earth, Lightning, Metal, Air, Lava, Void, Chaos [element changes each time you cast])
[ ] Fey
[ ] Fairy [trust me there is a huge difference]
[ ] Genie
[ ] Demon [neutral powers]
[ ] Celestial [the more positive aligned]
[ ] Devil [negative powers]
[ ] Elemental (see dragon for choices)

Starting alignment
[ ] write in

If you chose Ki instead of magic... then you would have the chance to be a Ki caster (effectively what Uncle was in Jackie Chan Adventures), Ki adept (effectively Arturia from Fate series with Prana Blast)

I will admit, being Uncle would be amazing.

Exalted tangent
Cornix's vote reminds me of the time my Solar circle in Exalted decided to create a Multi-element Manse (effectively a city-temple in this context) which later became a Steam Element Manse.

We used a large hole in the ground when someone else tried to find out just how deep the Crust of Creation (the flat-world Exalted is on) that went ten miles deep and the fuck-huge drill head was located at the very bottom (we scavenged as much as we could of the drill for our shiny new weapons, armor, and gifts for some rather important npcs). The bottom of the shaft was (in context) about 400 degrees Fahrenheit and the various side shafts were filled with forbidden 'gods' (which were creatures that, when killed, left skeletons of Star Metal, a useful in-game resource for most of the better items).

One of us had the idea of turning the pit into a manse and debated what it should be; then we put in permanent waterfalls (Magic in Exalted can be so bullshit) along most of the circular edge at the top and used most of the drill shaft as the foundations for the city. We also put in Runic arrays (first etched by the mage then filled in with plants grown by my character with an artifact to make golden crops that grow really fast to reduce maintenance) to help stabilize the entire place.

In Exalted, there is only one place where Steam is considered an actual element and that is inside of the God-Titan known as Auto-cthon (the surface world has Fire, Earth, Water, Wind and Plant as elements while the underworld has its own five which does include blood and soul steel). None of the characters had knowledge about Auto-cthon, so in-character, this entire endeavor (in which we spent about a year in-game time on) was applying theoretical knowledge to see if it works and if it was practical.

After we mangled and dissolved the bodies of hundreds of demons (would have been dozens but we somehow kept summoning the wrong type), we finally got enough demonic ... goo to make an elemental out of; we only got enough to make a soul and we had a better way to get a body. We went out into the Wyld (called such because it is ruled by chaos and narritivium and it was beyond the borders of Creation) to assemble a stable body for the Steam Soul. It ended dramatically but I forget the exact details. Anyway, we took the Steam Elemental to the Manse just as prospective settlers came to the Manse (there was a recent conflict nearby) investigating this new constant cloud that was coming out of the ground that is visible for 100 miles (give or take). Over the course of the next few in-game days, we culled back the plant clippings, used those clippings in addition to the local stones and metals to make the city (furniture and sanitation included) and ordered the Elemental to keep arrays in order.

Yep, my group basically made an entirely new elemental manse, eviscerated hundreds of demons and gods, invented a new Elemental all so we could get a glorified gardener for a newly established metropolis.

SB decided to go pure Fighter and wound up with higher stats to assign (17, 15, 14, 13, 12, 10)

On one hand, you guys have range. On the other, well... what Cecil said about the nobility through martial prowess may come true if SB vs SV broke out.
