Hymnal (Art Quest)

High Noon
"Poor fella."
Latto steps further into the room. "This happen a lot?"
"Yes," Adasi says. "The pipe helps. But not enough."
"Does he know you do this for him?"

"No." Adasi's fingers stroke light across Paldo's ear. "It would do him no good to know."
"Would do you some good, seems to me."
"He has to see me on his own, Eidolon," Adasi says. "He has to see me. For me to become. This is why I follow him. To be made real."
"What does that mean?"
"Just what I have said." Adasi lets Paldo's head roll back away from him. "Sleep, Eidolon. You have a day tomorrow."

The hammerhead staggers backward out the door to the sheriff's office, spitting shards of tooth into the dust.

Aldo Atticus strides out the door after him, wiping dark blood from a revolver so massive it makes his hand look like a child's.
"Y'all know what I told you," he calls out into the emptying square. "Y'all HEARD me. I said my TIME for you. And my PATIENCE for you. Is LIMITED!" He kicks the hammerhead in the gut. She curls over in pain.
"God did not put you on this forsaken planet to give ME your problems." Aldo plants his boot on the hammerhead's chest. He's drunk. It's an hour before noon. "If it ain't RELEVANT, if it ain't a COMMUNITY ISSUE, if it's a question a your own WEAKNESS, you're gonna come in and BELLYACHE, POOR ME AT ME, you best NOT COME IN AT ALL. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR."

The square is empty. Folk are hiding in their homes.

"DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?" Aldo hollers again. He waits, cusses, spits on the hammerhead, and strides unsteadily back into the station, slamming the door behind him.

Paldo steps out from behind the hut he and Latto were laying low behind and puts his hands on his hips.
"That there's Aldo, all right." He smirks. "Comfort to see he ain't had another damn revelation while I was gone." He nods to Latto. "Well it's your plan, Beetle. Leave it to you."

[] "Let's just walk in."
[] "Oughta knock."
[] "Maybe we better come back when he's hit the depressive point of his cups."
[] "He got a deputy we can talk to instead?
[] Holler: "ALDO ATTICUS. YOU COME OUT AND TALK, NOW."
[] Holler: "ALDO ATTICUS. WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THAT DOWELS SCORE."
[] "You know him better'n me. You do the talking."

Hmm. This is going to end very, very well. I can feel it in my bones.

[x] Holler: "ALDO ATTICUS. WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THAT DOWELS SCORE."

Latto knocks.
No response.

"ALDO ATTICUS," Latto calls, up to the darkened windows. "WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THAT DOWELS SCORE."

He barely has time to react as the door slams open and Aldo comes out in blind fury.

He's a narrow fella, with the hints of a once-unfamiliar beer gut brushing up against his bleached, threadbare shirt. His cloak was made for a bigger man. There's a good deal of sleep around his eyes he hasn't seen fit to wipe away.
He smells like the floor of a bar.

"What dead motherfucker," he screeches, "said that man's name? Who said that man's name in my town?"

[] Stay silent.
[] Step out from behind his door and get that gun out of his hand.
[] "Calm down, Aldo. I'm here to help you kill him."
[] "You best stop waving that gun around before I put you down, Atticus."
[] "If Roundhead could see you now, Aldo Atticus. Screaming at ghost names."
[] "I'm here on a mission from the Four."
[] "Your old boss sent me."
[] Look to Paldo to mollify the man.

Wondering if he'd suspect there was something more to this if we specifically said we're here on the Four's behalf?
