Hunting the Flame (Bloodborne/Dark Souls)

Crestfallen
[X] Ask the man what this place is.

The man looks up at you as you approach him. He's got short black hair, and a face that seems naturally downtrodden. You feel a momentary urge to kick him in his sad face. Instead, you speak, "What is this place? What's with that bird?"

"This is Firelink Shrine." The man shrugs. "The bird brings people here. From all over the world it grabs people and brings them here. Usually those who escape the Asylums, or just want to reach Lordran."

Venn approaches you two, "Why here?"

"I don't know." He inspects you two. Let me guess. Fate of the Undead, right?"

Venn nods. "Yeah."

You frown. "What?"

"Well," Venn sighs, "There's an ancient prophecy that says that the person who rings the Bell of Awakening in Lordran can learn 'the fate of the Undead'. It's sort of a holy quest?" He doesn't sound too confident in that last bit.

The man in armor chuckles. "But there's no salvation here. You'd have done better to rot in the Undead Asylum... But, too late now. Well, since you're here... Let me help you out. There are actually two Bells of Awakening. One's up above, in the Undead Church. The other is far, far below, in the ruins at the base of Blighttown. Ring them both, and something happens... Brilliant, right?"

You don't really agree, but refrain from saying anything.

"Yeah, spectacular." Venn sits down. "I don't know about you, Aurelia, but I think I'm going to ring them."

"Why?"

He thinks. "Well, people don't go Hollow when they have a Quest. They need something to motivate them, else they lose sight of themselves."

The man shakes his head. "You have a better chance of staying sane by staying safe, I'd say."

Venn shakes his head. "I'm going to disagree with you there. I'd rather be doing something than rotting forever in one place for all my life."

"To each their own, I guess." The man chuckles. "I suppose I'm just Crestfallen. But what will you do? You look like quite the noble lady. This land seems rather... unsuited to your class. A bit crass."

What do you say?
[ ] Don't.
[ ] Smile. Then strike.
-[ ] Intimidate him. Show him you're Knight, not some unblooded (heh) noblewoman.
-[ ] Kill him. His depressed attitude is getting on your nerves.
[ ] Say something to him.

[x] Smile. Then strike.
-[x] Intimidate him. Show him you're Knight, not some unblooded (heh) noblewoman.

[:V] Say something to him.
-[:V] "My name is not important. What is important is what I'm going to do. I just fu*kin' hate this world. And the human worms feasting on its corpus. My whole life is just cold, bitter hatred. And I always wanted to die violently. This is the time of vengeance and no life is worth saving. And I will put in the grave as many as I can. It's time for me to kill. And it's time for me to die. My genocide crusade begins here."

but really

[X] Don't.

[x] Smile. Then strike.
-[x] Intimidate him. Show him you're Knight, not some unblooded (heh) noblewoman.

Plan Vileblood pride is a go!

[x] Smile. Then strike.
-[x] Intimidate him. Show him you're Knight, not some unblooded (heh) noblewoman.

I've been waiting to do this to that asshole. And since we're Vileblood...

[x] Smile. Then strike.
-[x] Intimidate him. Show him you're Knight, not some unblooded (heh) noblewoman.

The nature of the Crestfallen
[X] Smile. Then strike.
-[x] Intimidate him. Show him you're Knight, not some unblooded (heh) noblewoman.

You give him your most innocent smile.

And then you strike.

In one swift moment, you grab him by the neck, and lift him into the air. You let your nails dig into his neck, ready to puncture the skin.

"Let me introduce myself. I am Aurelia, Knight of the Vileblood Queen."

He laughs at you. He's... Not intimidated at all. "And I'm the Duke of Anor Londo. The fact of the matter is, Lady Knight," He gasps for air as you squeeze a little. You don't like his tone. "The fact of the matter is that you're human. I can tell. Unlike me or him, you only have one life to give. So give up. Don't hasten your death."

You frown. So that's who this man is. Someone whose given up on everything.

You...
[ ] Let him live. Let him stew on his misery.
[ ] Kill him. Someone like him doesn't deserve to live.

And after?
[ ] Leave the shrine.
-[ ] Up the path to the right.
-[ ] To the area below the shrine.
-[ ] Into the graveyard
[ ] What's that smell?
[ ] Stay and rest at the Shrine a bit.
[ ] Murder everyone.
[ ] Talk to Ven

Hmm... to sin or to not sin.

Let's say we have a point to prove.

[x] Let him live. Let him stew on his misery.

[X] What's that smell?

We could meet Petrus later, I guess.

Moonlit Scent
[X] Let him live. Let him stew on his misery.
[X] What's that smell?

You drop him to the ground, and he rubs his neck.

Venn looks between you two, "I'm going to go explore this place a bit. Might be something I can use." He walks away.

You nod, and turn away from the depressed warrior. He's not worth your time. You close your eyes, and breath in, familiarizing yourself with the scent of this place. It's so different from Yharnam. Everything lives here. Even the ruins of this shrine give way to something living. It's so strange, compared to the blood drenched streets of Yharnam. Almost reminds you of the Dream.

Hmm? You smell something else. A familiar smell. Blood. Gunpowder. Moonlight.

Your eyes snap open, and you begin to look around. You kneel down, and find some dust on the ground. You take a pinch of it, and sniff it. Bone Marrow Ash.

There's a few specs of dried blood on the ground. Hunter blood.

Other Hunters have come here, you realize. But who? The Bone Marrow Ash indicates a Powder Keg, but that's just one. You can't make them all out, but your nose doesn't lie. Multiple Hunters have come and gone.

What will you do?

hmm... lots of hunters. Perhaps this duke gave the same godamn speech to all of them?

[x] Talk to this Duke of Anor Londo
-[x] "You. Have others like me been here before?"

This for now. Some ideas will be welcomed as well.

Just so you guys know, I've added a new Threadmark: Allies.

It's only got one entry. For all her skills, Aurelia kind of sucks at making friends. So I don't think I'm going to need to update it much.

Hmmm....

Maybe I should have it be Allies, and Reoccuring Enemies like Kirk?

Tell me what you think.
