You were alive. Now, you are dead. Or are you?

You have just been recently reincarnated. Where, you ask?

That's for me, the QM/Author, to know. And for you new or veteran questers to find out.

On your journey to find out where you are, you will find friendship, hardship, and most importantly, your legend. You will find out who you truly are and make the most out of your lucky gift, living your new life to the fullest.

Introduction

Hello all questers and welcome, to

This is my second quest (Why am I doing this to myself? I can barely keep up with posting updates on Breaking Destiny!) that I will be writing, and the premise is simple (or not so simple, depending on your view).

You were alive. Now, you are dead. Or are you?

You have just been recently reincarnated. 'Where?', the masses ask?

That's for me, the QM/Author, to know. And for you new or veteran questers to find out.

On your journey to find out where you are, you will find friendship, hardship, and most importantly, your legend. You will find out who you truly are and make the most out of your lucky gift, living your new life to the fullest.

Shit, did I say too much? Hopefully I didn't. Eh, whatever. What's done is done.

Word From QM/Author

Hey all. ItzNarcotic back here with another (I think?) quest idea. The is the first quest idea where I actually don't have an end point in mind.

I mean, I do have one. But the 'end point' is far away as hell. And it will take forever to reach. But hey, long quests are good ones. Right?

Anyways, I wonder if you know where you are at. I haven't even posted the first chapter yet! Also, this quest was partially inspired by another quest. I won't say which one, but it has a pretty good premise. Before you ask, Historical Events That Definitely Occurred™ doesn't have the same premise as that quest.

Also, your character will have knowledge as to where you are. However, it is up to you whether you want to use said knowledge or not. I will say that this character should not exist in this world. They are an outlier to this world. To be more specific, an anomaly of sorts. Either way, I love it when some random person who shouldn't exist just comes in and changes the balance of things. SI fanfiction is a personal favorite genre of mine, to be quite honest with you questers.

All that information aside, please patiently wait while I post the first chapter and reserve some posts for informational things.

1. A Lucky Opportunity
You find yourself staring into a dark void, nothing you recognize in sight. You look around or attempt to, anyway. You see nothing but pitch black, the void taunting you.

How did you even get here? That last thing you remembered was, was… Huh. You can't even remember how you got here. The last thing you can actually remember was you graduating high-school and going for a position as a…

Pick as many as you'd like, but only one will win.

[][Profession] Biochemist (+?, Unlocks ?)
[][Profession] Gun Salesman (+?, Unlocks ?)

As you reminisce on your used-to-be future, you can faintly hear a noise. You can hear it, but barely.

"Unfortunate human," it speaks, the sound booming throughout this empty space, "I have seen your plight and I pity you."

You try to look around and see where the voice is coming from, but fail.

"Fool, do you think a mere mortal can bare witness upon my divine figure?" It questions, sending your non-existent body into a frenzy. Everything hurts, yet you have nothing that could be hurt.

The voice scoffs, before whispering, "Why is it always the mortals?"

You look up, interested. Has this incorporeal being done this before?

"Anyways, I have seen your plight and pity you. How you ended was embarrassing to the likes of others I have witnessed. So, I shall grant you one last life."

If you had eyelids, they would be wide open in shock right now. Did this being just say they would reincarnate you?

"I did say you would get one last life, mortal. How dare you question my ability to do so!" The voice sounds… indignant? What?

"Anyways, you shall start your life reborn as a newborn infant. Do you accept?"

You nod, or at least try to do so. You don't really have a head or body to do the motions, but you try your hardest to do so.

"Hmph, very well. I hope you enjoy your new life as much as possible. After all, only lucky mortals get the chance to do so."

After she finishes, you feel yourself get dragged somewhere. Everything around you starts to break, as if fissures were occuring around your body itself.

You can't see anything else, your eyes being forcefully closed. Hopefully, that being did reincarnate you. Just so you could live your life that you wanted to.

The being did reincarnate you. After you were born, you found out that you were a…

And that you were born in the year of…

[][Date of Birth] 884

You knew this, because everything looked so medieval, unlike the modern society that you lived in before. Hopefully, you can live to protect your loved ones and friends that you make throughout your new life.

Note from QM:

I wonder if you know what universe you've been reincarnated in? I mean, the dates should give plenty of clues, so feel free to guess where you are!

Also, updates for this quest will usually be around 2-3k words and will always happen the day after I update Breaking Destiny.

Stop: AS A HISTORIAN, THIS MAKES ME TWITCH
as a historian, this makes me twitch
not really I find this very good for the lols. I have 0 respect for the christian religion or any Organized religion for that matter given what little good they bring into the world is FAR outweighed by the evils they have done. The only thing the Christians did that was massively significant was save the knowledge from Romes fall, and even then they hoarded the knowledge for a LONG time.
Questing for fun, this is appallingly bad grasp of history and a breach of Rule 2. Dislike of organized religion is fine, but this is an insultingly broad brush. 25 points and 3 days out.
So you're just butthurt ignorant. At least it's nice of you to finally admit that.
Sir_Jazz, him spouting edgy teen levels of history is not a license to get insulting. 25 points and 3 days to you as well.

Everyone else play nice.

2. Setting Up The Missing Pieces

[][Date of Birth] 2498 B.C.

After doing some recon by crawling around, you found out that you were born way back. Much farther than you thought. When you saw the buildings and architecture, it looked nothing like the regular medieval castles you saw before. They looked like something out of an extremely ancient historical sight, places only seen as fantasy.

Thankfully, you got acclimated to your new life and your father didn't notice your non-baby like behavior. Your mother was a different story, however. She was oddly perceptive, easily noticing how you pretended to be asleep or how you acted. It was scary, how your mother could do such a thing and be so nonchalant about it.

So, emboldened by your mother's frankly frightening analytical skills, you decide to not do anything out of place. After all, who knows what information she could get just from interrogating you. You loved your parents, but you were still suspicious about something. This place looked too familiar to you and you would find out why.

One day, your mother decided to actually bring you outside and bring you with her instead of leaving you at home. You were happy, since your mother was rarely home and always busy doing something. It also gave you the chance to try and find out where you really were.

Oh right, your parents. Your father was a farmer, doing farmwork and planting crops as a living. He would mutter something about 'beasts', but you kept quiet about it since you didn't have any information to make clear cut assumptions. You didn't know what your mother did, only that she wanted to keep it a secret from you. Whatever it was that she did, anyways.

Oddly enough, you had a sense of deja vu whenever you looked at your mother's face. She had very similar looks to someone you had seen before, but you just couldn't find the correct words to describe her. One thing for certain, was the fact that she was older than she looked. She knew things that other people didn't seem to know, even though she had the appearance of a young woman.

"Why are we going there?" Your innocent question causes her to giggle uncontrollably, before she pulls you into her warm embrace. She puts her mouth up to your ear, a smug grin the last thing you see before your eyes close. The last thing you hear is a mixture of giggling and excitement from your mother.

"We're meeting my family. I know you'll love them!"

You wake up. Rather, you wake up in your dreams. As odd as that sounds, you don't feel truly awake. It's like you were in that odd space, talking to that deity again.

It's like a vivid memory, one that gives you mild confusion. What were you truly like before? After making yourself move forward into the yellow light, you fully understand now. You feel it all piecing together, your mind coming back to you. You find it, something you thought that you lost when you met that deity.

You found a memory, one that spoke to you. One that made you feel whole once more. One that encapsulates who you truly are as a person. After pushing your mind further, you see that...

[][Thx Fr Th Mmrs] You were a good person, one who helped people even when they didn't ask for it. You were the perfect example of what a hero should act like.
[][Thx Fr Th Mmrs] You were a bad person, one who did things because you felt like doing it. You were a very impulsive and greedy person who was universally hated by many others in your previous life.
[][Thx Fr Th Mmrs] You were not loved or hated by people who knew you. However, you always helped others, if only to further yourself and your goals.
[][Thx Fr Th Mmrs] You were a nice person, but if you couldn't do things your way, you would create your own path to do so. You would do whatever it takes to help someone, even if it meant sacrificing yourself. Shirou Expy!
[][Thx Fr Th Mmrs] You were a terrible person, but only to those who you didn't help. Of course, you followed the law. Well, only the rules you made for yourself.
[][Thx Fr Th Mmrs] You were someone who didn't care about the world, living your life like an average person would. A mindless drone who did whatever they wanted and never did anything good or bad.

You broke out of that reverie, shaking your mind free of renewal you just experienced. The yellow light fades away, revealing an odd assortment of items upon golden pedestals.

The first and most eye-catching one is a pair of wings. Moving your hand closer, you feel your hand moving faster. Like it's travelling through the air at fast speeds. Stepping back in fear of your hand getting launched off your arm, you look at the second most eye-catching item.

It looks like a plant, but it looks much more vibrant than any plant you've ever seen. The leaves are glistening with the stem being a verdant emerald shade. The most colorful part is the bud itself. It's shining with a bright color, almost ethereal.

The third item is honestly the most frightening thing you've seen so far. It's a gothic cage. You attempt to put your hand closer, only to reel back in fear as it attempts to bite you. To be honest, you don't want to deal with the metal cage trying to sink it's metal teeth into your ethereal body.

Walking back, you look at the last and final option. It's honestly the least interesting thing you see here. It's a chess piece. To be more precise, a Knight piece. Bringing your hand closer, you feel yourself flinch as it releases something towards you. You glance at it for a few moments before quickly backing away, not wanting to know what that did to you.

After looking at all of the items, you decide to pick up the…

[][Dreaming of Origin] The pair of Wings. Being fast is certainly useful. Almost like you travel faster. (?)
[][Dreaming of Origin] The plant. It feels full of life and seems very cheerful to your reincarnated soul. (?)
[][Dreaming of Origin] The gothic cage. It feels familiar, almost like death itself. (?)
[][Dreaming of Origin] The chess piece. It feels like someone is trying to kill you, you arms getting goosebumps.

This meme below says it all.

Memes aside, this is the last setup chapter before we truly begin the quest. Once we get some things set up for our character, I'll post the Mechanics and Character Sheet up. Since everyone knows this is in Fate, feel free to do some guessing as to where you are. I'll reveal it next update, so don't worry if you get it wrong.

To be honest, the hardest part about this update was searching up viable name choices for the character. :V
