Highschool Boxing Quest - a tale of friendship, romance, and self-worth

I am given to understand I taste something like pork, but very fatty and quite salty as well.

Guys our character needs to catch 10 leaves in mid air with jabs before he can become a boxer. Then he must learn the Dempsey roll.

Our signature move should be the stunner. You know, the one where you soak your boxing glove in chloroform and keep it in the opponents face as much as possible.

wdango, you need to update. It's the only way to stop delay the madness.

Nevermind, did some research and it turns out that chloroform does not actually work like movies and stories say it should. Too bad, we will have to resort to inserting metal plates just under the outer material of our boxing gloves instead.

I think our signature move should be getting punched in the face! The other guy will fall for it every time! /trolling

Tomorrow or the day after, probably. I'm pumping out Palette Swap updates because I won't be able to once I'm in Singapore.

Oh, Singapore? That's exciting (I think, if it's for (one of the many) the reasons I suspect)!

...

I'm beginning to put parenthetical qualifiers inside of parenthetical qualifiers. Time for bed.

Highschool Boxing Quest
a tale of friendship, romance, and self-worth

The landscape blurs past as you watch the clouds slowly crawl across the sky through the window.

You are slouched against the wall, your bag in the seat next to you, and your gaze is unfocused upon the glass. The trees and fields rush past as they are gradually replaced by concrete pillars, old brick buildings, and the familiar sight of the city you had grown up in...

...You are moving back home for high school.

You don't know how you feel about it. You've been studying abroad for the past three years, not doing too well in school, and... Dad told you that he found a private school back home you could go to instead, if you wanted, and you had leapt at the chance.

But now you can't help but think... that it was maybe just a little bit cowardly of you.

You are Jason Cage, on the express train back to Millstream, and you doubt.

The train gradually slows down as it comes to a halt at the city station, and you sigh.

Well, here you are.

In the late afternoon, the train is sparsely filled, and the handful of passengers sharing your compartment begin to meander towards the train doors. One of them grabs the handle and slides the doors open, and they all begin to file out.

You shake your head, slinging your bag over your shoulder, and you follow suit.

Leisurely you follow the small crowd as you make your way through the familiar building and towards the station turnstiles, beyond which you can see Dad waiting with--

"He's here! Big Bro! Over here!"

--Julie, your little sister. You smile, waving at your family as you slot your ticket into the machine and sidle your way through the gates. "Hey there, kiddo. Hey, Dad."

"Hey, Jason." He smiles, opening his arms, and you lean in for a hug. His shirt smells like dust and tobacco. "Welcome home."

"Yeah, I'm back."

"Did you bring it?" Julie asks, tugging on your arm.

"Uh-huh." You laugh, turning to her. "But I'm not giving it to you 'til we get home."

"Aww, c'mon, Big Bro..."

"You're gonna get fat, you know?"

"Says you?" She prods you in the side, and you ruffle her hair in retaliation, grinning. "Hey!"

"Well, they say ya can't trust a skinny chef, kiddo."

"Alright, that's enough." Dad shakes his head amusedly. "Let's get some grub, yeah?"

"Ooh, let's get pasta from that place near Central."

"Hey, I haven't been back in ages and I say we get some sausage rolls."

"I'm your little sister and I say you should spoil me a little bit more."

"You wish, kiddo. I spoil you plenty."

"Let's just get some sandwiches from the Deli..."

"Oh, c'mon, Dad!" "Oh, c'mon, Dad!"

He laughs, and as the three of you walk back towards the car... You think that maybe you made the right choice, after all.

...It's nice, having people you can talk to again.

Just a week later, you're settled down and ready for your first day at school.

[x] It's Autumn, so you'll get to start with the rest of the kids, but...
[x] It's Spring, so you'll be a transfer student, but...

We already have a confirmed bro, so at least friend-making shouldn't be a problem.

[Ahh, the effort I go to to make a joke.]

You know, a part of me is surprised this quest actually has any players at all.

Ordinary quests can get pretty boring, yanno?

I like you as a QM and this will have ample opportunity for *emotions.* I would read a book with a boring premise if it was executed well and had a compelling cast/writing, so why not a quest?
