Hidden in the Trenches: A Story of Blood, Mud, and Magic (Fantasy Great War Quest)

[X] Push Mirage to it's limits. You could go further than your first attempt, you were certain of that. It might be worth seeing how far you can take it though you feel concerned about the dangers it entails.

[X] Pull out Cap's name and rank, tell the man he can take it up with him if he really wants to withhold a scope. Cap' didn't give you permission to do so after all.

[X] Practice Mirage, but only minor changes to the world to avoid any dangerous backlash. Small drifts of smoke or mist here, some grass where there was none, or the like.

We don't need the flashy. We need to be able to pull up a small fogbank when we're getting shot at 10/10

It'd probably help to get magical backlash explained to us to help make this decision, otherwise we can't know if the risk is worth the reward

Yeah, sniper needs his gear. I can see why quartermaster gets frustrated at soldiers breaking all his stuff and disorganizing everything, but we're jaded, we don't really give a damn, and Cap will back us up if we deliver.

[X] Leave, you'll just report it to Cap' next time you see him.

Quartermasters are well known to be assholes about this kind of stuff. I'd imagine he's used to people name dropping their superior officers.

Mirage will only affect those within it's area of effect, the distance you project it will grow as you become more practiced with it.

It happened when you learned the spell, backlash will do damage to yourself of varying degrees based on how far you push the illusions you make with it.

Where else should you risk it, than right here, in the camp?
