"The most notable and distinct addition to any player following the transition is their now permanent pointed ears, which all players save the Cait Sith now have. While reactions to this change vary wildly between players from resigned acceptance to horror at a perceived disfiguration, it can't be doubted that these new "elf ears" offer certain physiological advantages not available to normal humans, for instance improved hearing and sound localization ability.

A well-known but least talked about change regarding these ears however is their increased sensitivity to touch and pressure, especially along the top of the lobes. Their sensitivity is such that they are now considered to be erogenous zones, and more than one elf-eared Fae has had the embarrassing experience of having their ears touched to their surprised delight. Touching a Fae's ears without permission is thus considered a faux pas that must be avoided at all costs lest one has a death wish, or is a trusted relation.

Interestingly enough, the areas most sensitive to touch are the places covered by the decorative metallic sheaths that many Fae wear over their ears, suggesting this feature was intentionally thought out on part of the ALO developers..."
