Grounders10's Forgotten Files and Drabbles (Worm, Ranma, etc.)

If he hadn't been petrified he'd have still been in massive trouble for it. This sort of bluff works like when you are not doing it. You can actually break the resistance this way out of sheer horror. Or, as happened here, someone decides that if this is how the victor acts, resisting to the last is the least bad option because they're absolutely fucked either way.
Like I said, it backfired. *really really badly*

Of course even if the ponies hadn't pulled a pony; I can see it being a rather dubious/borderline tactic in his superior's eyes. Guy was no doubt banking on the 'I have claimed a new client race for the Hierarchy' aspect of his victory to smooth things over.

As it is, him bluffing versus actually killing all the civvies is probably going to be the main thing keeping his sentence at 'lawn ornament for X time period' versus various individuals grabbing sledgehammers and reducing him to gravel.

Also, the first shelter that was destroyed was actually emptied out by the Turians beforehand. You are right that blowing up shelters is a war crime by Citadel Law. Desolas is a massive asshole, but he didn't just blow up an entire shelter of civilians. He bluffed. It backfired hilariously.

Yeah, the way he did it... if it didn't work exactly aas he planned and broke the will of the entire species permanently...

It basically guaranteed that any of the new "client" species would be one incident away from rebellion at all times. Usually at the worst possible moment for the Turians, and probably engineering such incidents.

It's the perfect setup for a Star Wars Rebellion. Where it is the ideal that never dies, no matter how many Rebels the evil empire puts down.

Honestly, he'd still be looking at getting kicked out an airlock.

Because if that little bluff of his leaked (and you bet your ass it would), the entire Citadel would look at him with angry eyes. Because for all their problems, the Citadel races are so very humanlike in doing something like that is considered scum of the fucking galaxy, and threatening it not much better.

So anytime a pony starts talking about Generosity, Loyalty, Courage, Laughter, Kindness and Magic in any sort of threatening situation the target is going to soil themselves. Amusing stuff. Though, I'm curious if Shepard will become a Spectre here, because she kind of immediately went straight to joint head of state.. which would be less Spectre and more Council representative. Be kind of funny for Asari to meet people older and cannier then they are, by an order of magnitude in some cases.

I wonder how the Council races will take the idea that the Divine Right of Kings Princesses is a real thing for real reasons. The Destiny Ascension's main cannon isn't impressive compared to the Mother of All CMEs or an Armageddon sized asteroid casually yeeted your way after all...

Problem with that would be the Citadel Council managing to convince the Equestrians to join the them in the first place. Because I can see the Princesses being rather leery about at least some of the CC's laws even before the whole 'members of your armed forces tried to invade and enslave/conquer one of our colonies on flimsy trumped-up reasons' thing.

I really liked this. Does the fact that it is labeled chapter 1 mean there is going to be more?
Tulvus looked up as a rainbow wave of energy washed over him. He gasped and grabbed his chest as it tingled across his body.

"What was that?"
I wonder if Tulvus will get magic powers as a side effect.

I would think that Equestria would basically offer to trade all of the turians that were petrified (and can presumably be un-petrified) in exchange for peace and maybe some sort of symbolic reparations (IE materials to rebuild the destroyed dockyard or maybe an amount of Eeezo that corresponds to the number of equestrian lives lost).

I mean, it kind of worked that way in the OTL with humanity. So don't see why it wouldn't work here, it's just the speed of integration, and wouldn't be much of an ME story if Equestria refused to work with the Council and kept to their own part of the galaxy until the Reapers came a-knocking, so there has to be some interaction. Having a Princess take the role of Shepard (and let's be honest based on her name that IS what she will be doing) could be amusing, and would force things to be different too… since the Council couldn't really just "We have dismissed that claim." away all the concerns without a lot of hemming and hawing at the walking talking super weapon. Then there is all the other stuff that Equestria and the wider galaxy would love friendship, culture and trade. I don't think Twiggles would turn down the opportunity to learn about alien species. The Council would be all for learning about magic too (and would probably make a lot of concessions for it), like the shield tech alone trumps kinetic barriers and this was just a civilian version not designed for combat (which makes fleets like Lunas pretty scary). Not that any of them could probably do anything with magic… if it's an Equestrian specific trait that is (and it should stay that way imo).

Also, the Cutie Mark Crusaders being Alicorns is a terrifying prospect, and them ruling as a mini council. The horror. lol.

And frankly, another galactic power the council has to deal with as an equal would be FASCINATING.
It would also be an OCP for the Council since obviously everybody wants to join the greatest civilization in existence. After all, they found this abandoned space station and started squatting in it. What better indication that they are the bee's knees?

One doesn't have to be part of the Council to be actively part of the ME universe.
True, but the majority of ME takes place in the council and deals with council shenanigans. And again, the setup of this chapter as presented is Equestria taking the place of Earth and Earth still joined the council despite the first contact war.

Just to be clear I'm not against the idea of two separate nations, I honestly don't care one way or the other. Just pointing out that more or less the same shit happened in the game and Earth still joined and Equestria is by and large vastly more forgiving and open to friendship than humans.

while you are right that Equestria is possibly more forgiving than humanity (ignoring the multiple rampant prejudice examples we can see) the rest of your comparsion is wrong.

Equestria has a completely different tech base and captured the Dreadnought which attacked them completely intact.

ME Humanity was just another species whith the same tech as everyone else. Equestria is far more valuable for the Citadel. At the same time Equestria doesn't use the Relays at all making them much less inclined to tie themself into the Citadel races.

I'd like to see when Salarians aquire an Equestrian FTL drive. Because you just know they wouldn't listen to the warning label and would actively try to understand and document Discord's realm.

STG Task Group Reports 1
I'd like to see when Salarians aquire an Equestrian FTL drive. Because you just know they wouldn't listen to the warning label and would actively try to understand and document Discord's realm.

Excerpts from:
Special Task Group Report 1190a-9012b
Experimental Applications of Equestrian FTL

[... Acquired through back channels a single Equestrian Freighter...]
[... Warnings within the manuals acquired with the freighter have been ascribed to Religious context referencing the 'Spirit of Chaos', known as 'Discord' by Dr. D Light...]
[... Despite translated warnings, Dr. Sine believes that a proper understanding of the alternate dimension utilized by the drive could be key to acquiring an advantage over the Equestrian Military...]
[... Will send additional reports as experiments are conducted.]

Excerpts from:
Special Task Group Report 1309j-8012b
Preliminary Report on the Aftermath of Experimental Applications of Equestrian FTL Experiments

[Distress signal received by outpost 18-A9. Response team dispatched to investigate...]
[... Lake of a strange brown liquid surrounded the facility. Samples indicate high levels of caffeine, sugar, and calcium. Material deemed harmless unless ingested in large quantities. Source unknown...]
[... Team led by Lieutenant Kirrahe entered the facility just after dawn. Communication ceased shortly thereafter...]
[... Shuttle Mirai forced to land after the engines were clogged by a strange pink cloud. Tests later revealed an unusually high Sugar concentration...]
[... Signs of combat reported by second team under Lieutenant Trei. Lieutenant Kirrahe recovered, covered in a dense white material. Tests once again reveal large amounts of sugar in its composition. Kirrahe unconscious, team missing...]
[... Hostile activity by a form of mobile and highly aggressive fruit has stalled further progress. Will continue to update STG Command as further data becomes available...]

The Salarians are probably an irresistible target for Discord. I suspect by the time Mordin comes along, the Salarians will be nearly falling apart. Mordin himself might be fine, though. He has just enough mental flexibility to survive Discord with his mind intact.

Well that butterflies away Saren since he is now stone I think. So really you can go about any direction with the aftermath. I'm just imagining the size of the garden for all the new statues now.

i wish we could see celestia as the main diplomat to the citadel making all the asari matriarchs feel like toddlers failing about while celestia calmly sits back and eats cake :D

Equestria has a completely different tech base and captured the Dreadnought which attacked them completely intact.

They brought a Dreadnought in for this alleged police action? For a single planet just taking their first steps into the void whose space forces they've already annihilated that would be gross overkill. By the time they would've had proof that Shimmervale was actually just a colony of a much larger polity(namely Luna's fleet jumping back into realspace) the rainbow wave was already washing over their ships. Speaking of, I wonder exactly how many Turians were spared from petrification. So far we only know of one, and he was already in Equestrian custody and thus not a threat. Are the only Turians that're still flesh & blood all POWs who'd been captured before Sheppard's Gambit or are there a few scattered Turians on the planet/in the fleet who met criteria for being spared?
