GreedFall

Some first impressions after playing the prologue bit.

Pros:
The world is pretty, though I hope other areas have more color.
There's more than one route to complete side quests, and often more than one outcome.
The character designs aren't bad. Nothing to write home about, but serviceable.
The voice acting is great.

Mixed:
The combat... serves its purpose. Nothing to write home about but I don't play for the combat to begin with.
The game is very easy so far.
The writing - good for the most part but really stilted and oddly-worded in places, something I'm chalking up to ESL writers.
The characters are a mixed bag, from what little I've seen so far, and shallow, but I'm also in the very early game.

Bad:
Lack of polish in the writing, both in terms of a few but consistent typos, and the aforementioned awkwardness. Also, though playing as female is an option, tooltips still refer to your characters as male and was occasionally called "my Lord".
The facial animations do not sync to the dialogue and it's straight into uncanny valley.
THE MUSIC IS A JOKE.
The world building is, so far, very simplistic. You've got a nation of ruthless, draconian technocrats, another nation of ruthless, draconian theocrats, those two nations are at war, and then there's your neutral nation of merchants. That's the extent of their characterization so far. There's a devastating plague going on but it's barely brought up other than off-hand comments and static NPCs being sick in the streets and burning things. You've got this weird growth on your face and nobody has said anything about it. The whole world just feels very... flat to me, so far.

I don't know. I'm only a few hours in so I'll keep playing, but it hasn't grabbed me yet.

I think that is supposed to be a tattoo and them being a cultural thing, like with the captain.

it is not. The significance of it increases throughout the main plot.

That people at home don't comment is probably because you're well established nobility
But even then that doesn't get consistently applied.

When you're looking for Constantin, the innkeeper doesn't know it's him - the local ruler's son - and it's never brought up, mentioned, or used in any way.

As for the face growth thing, people you meet for the first time don't comment on it either.

It gets a bunch of comments early in the game, a number of folks mistake you for a native. This goes away a few hours in because your rep starts to precede you, but your appearance remains a regular topic
