Well then... while we're waiting for the update, we might as well brainstorm future plans and allies...
Some more NPCs that might be of interest to us:
- Commander Rylon (Sith Warrior storyline)
A spy in the Balmoran resistance, under the command of Darth Baras. Is killed by the Sith Warrior at the order of Baras (thereby proving that Baras is an overly paranoid idiot, as Rylon was loyal to Baras and was an effective agent, and Baras has him killed because he "might" have been compromised). If possible, faking his death would give us someone suited for espionage.
- Halidrell Setsyn (Sith Warrior storyline)
Another operative of Darth Baras, operating on Nar Shaddaa. She's scociable and charismatic. Preventing her death at the hands of Rathari would give us someone who's quite good at espionage and someone who can foster support for us.
0) Save documents to a cheap memory stick/pen drive/whatever you call it.
1) Straight up let a mod person know that you're (intending to) borrow(ing) a computer. Switching accounts on a shared machine should be fine imo, so ask instead of assuming "no"
3) Type it in notepad and copy paste to the webpage for spell check/send to your beta person? Minimal time fighting with the browser, minimal resources used to and if the computer goes tits up and crashes, well, hit ctrl-s every two minutes so you don't lose my food*
*stories. Some are sustained by fear, or anger. For me it's stories and caffeine.

That said, hoping your computer troubles will be solved, soon.

As you said before, one of the first things you learn as an Inquisitor is to always stack the odds in your favor.
No matter how sure of yourself you are, no matter how many times you've gone over something in your head, no matter how much of an advantage you think you have, you must always add more to your side.
However, after seeing what happened to the Mauler, you're not so sure that applies to you anymore.
You didn't even use the traps you created from before. They hang uselessly in your hand as you stand in the hallway and just look at the battle….
...No, not battle.
It can't even be considered that.
The four parts of the Mauler are on the ground, the beast black blood slowly seeping into the cracks in the floor. It didn't even realize it was dead until it hit the ground. You know because its eyes were still focused on the area where you had sent it with some simple rocks.
Ffon stands to your left in about the same condition as you. His head keeps jumping from the severed, twitching arm of the Mauler to the slowly fading red glow of his Warblade. The power you imbued it with flakes off in a dazzling display. You see him reach for the particles as they float into the air, confusion wrought upon his features.
To your right is Khem Val. He looks down at the dead beast with indifference. Then he turns to his blade and swipes it through the air to get the blood off. He places the blade back across his back and walks towards the dais at the edge of the room.
You go towards the corpse of the monster and kneel down next to its severed legs. You check along the entire edge of the part where the flesh was cut through. The twin diagonal cuts are almost identical and have left not a single imperfection in their wake. You tug at the beast hide to test its strength. Its thick enough that you believe even a lightsaber would have some trouble cutting into it. The insides have been insulated to absorb the heat from the blade when it hit its frame.
Yet Val and Ffon were able to cleave through it with no more trouble than you would have stepping on an ant.
And all thanks to your device.
You look back at the object in question. A small, cylindrical object, vibrating at a very low frequency. It lays horizontal on the ground causing some of the stray dust and pebbles to tumble around its area. It wasn't much really. All you did was take the remaining pieces of armor and weapons as a base. Then you rigged it to emit a sound at a specified frequency that you could tell resonated with your weapons. The device made all of your blades vibrate in a way that ensured you would not just hit the target, but you would deal as much damage as you could manage.
At first, you thought this just meant that you would have a better chance of hitting and damaging the beast. You'd heard about how dangerous they were, and what they did to Force Users.
Then you saw Khem Val slice through its chest with no resistance whatsoever. However, you still didn't believe it. Khem Val was Tulak Hord's assassin after all. This is something that he should be able to do, even if he is weakened.
Then you saw Ffon do the exact same thing.
After that, it finally dawned on you. And it raises even more questions and concerns.
You knew that you were no longer a mere Sith. But you do not know exactly what that means. You're not a Sith, but you can use the Force. At the same time, the Force seems to avoid you like the plague. Though you can sense, make use of, and feel the Force around you, it is no longer apart of you.
What does this mean? Why did it happen? How will others react when they discover this?
All these questions had no immediate answers.
But that was fine.
For, no matter what happens, you are still an Inquisitor.
And answers, were something that you were trained to find.
You stand up from the floor and feel your power return to you. The device you created completed its purpose. It is no longer needed, so it dissipated into nothingness. Before long, nothing remains of whatever you created except a small indentation in the floor.
You spare one more glance before following after Khem Val. As you reach the second step you see Ffon still standing transfixed by his blade. You shout his name and your minion jumps as if awakened from a dream. You tell him to come before you leave him behind. He swiftly obeys your command, sheathing his sword on his back as well.
You ascend the final step and behold a stunning sight. In front of you sits a massive map of the galaxy. Every star, planet, or otherwise overlaid on a holographic display that takes up more than half of the room. While the visual design is a spectacle, it is what you feel off of it that truly makes you stand in awe. Some remains of Naga Sadow's Force energies lie within the map. It's not enough to bring back his ghost or possess your body, but it is what has kept this map intact for all these years. Now, it is time for you to claim it.
You order Val to stand behind you next to Ffon while you download the map. The dashade complies with a grunt, standing just far enough away to keep Ffon in his sword range. You still keep Ffon in your peripheral vision as you approach. If he is planning to betray you, now is a perfect time.
As you reach the console where the map is, you prepare to take out something to download it onto then stop.
You don't need a physical device to perform these tasks anymore, do you?

In case you didn't see my latest Alucard Update:
WHAT'S UP BITCHES?!?!
I've got a new laptop, it's all set up, and I'm back in the saddle!
It's feels so good to write again.
Though, I'm sorry if this comeback isn't as great as you thought. I was kind of at a loss for how to treat this part since the Mauler was so....thoroughly wrecked.
But, either way, I'm back. And don't worry, you'll get your XP after you return to Zash and get this all settled up. Which should be the next update.
VS: Terentatek Mauler

@LinkOnScepter can you post the combat logs in a spoiler unless they take time to make? Also, it would be awesome to get the knowledge word and time to use it before we meet Zash imo
I lack the context to decide if we should keep the map on us or in a storage device. I've never played ToR beyond an hour of the trooper story.

Honestly, I think it worked pretty well as a moment establishing for our character that he's now very different from a normal Sith, and things like what is dangerous or not, what's possible or not, are taking on completely different meanings.
Kinda wondering how that'll hold up in the long term, though; one of the aspects of the game system that I'm somewhat apprehensive about is the way AC is static and doesn't scale in any way, whereas attack boni for characters do scale with level.

Now that Faust is aware that things are...different for him this choice will essentially decide how he goes about specific things. It won't affect choices, but it will affect how he reacts and uses things in specific situations.
The first choice means that he's basically gonna be using his new godly status to account for mundane things. Instead of keeping important information in a separate device, he'll store the data inside of devices that will reside inside his own body. Instead of talking to someone to get to know them, he'll use his Fate powers to get a good reading on who they are and how they act with the Force.
The second choice means that he'll still use mundane mortal methods of solving problems even though he is divine. Information will be stored on external devices, he'll attempt to talk to people in order to learn who they are and how they will act, and so on.
The write in is there, in case anyone thinks they have a better idea instead of the two I presented.
[X] Need? No. But a good idea to keep capabilities secret unless it is impractical to do so (e.g. crafting Infront of followers). The best (most fun) secrets are those you won't have to share. Also, while using fate and time to manipulate people is great, save it for big moments, or when meeting someone for the first time to help assess threat and get a vague overview to assist with positive interactions. When it comes to general conversation, life happens in the present. Live.
-[X] Also, copy to a dataslate for Zash, copy to your hand without Ffon or Val noticing. What they don't know can't be tricked/tortured out of them.
I thought this vote was for some sort of sneaky thing with the data and Zash, glad you clarified, @LoS .
Yo! Threadgoers! Maek votz be better plz? *Puppy dog eyes*
Edit: with the addition of the combat log, I have unliked the chapter and given a funny. Seriously, check it out
Hm... kinda torn. On one hand, I very much like Faust starting to use his divine powers more casually and readily; experiment with them to find their limitations, and all that, or simply have fun.
On the other hand, I definitely don't want him to just default to "Fate + Time + Knowledge to know everything there's to know about this sap" when it comes to social interactions with others. That seems like it'd be a disaster waiting to happen in the long run.
How'd you phrase some sort of compromise based on that?

Quick glance at their personality/fate when we first meet a person and then natural social skills, only using fate/time powers when we're trying to recruit them or get them to do something big? Like, background stuff is off, but when challenged in some way, use them?

Well, the Inquisitor is a Godborn. What is the point of awakening to divine power if he will not wield his might as a god and embrace his divinity? I wanted the Inquisitor to choose the reaction of believing that what he had was something wonderful, thinking he is apart from Force users now, perhaps something more than them.
Still, if someone devises some sort of compromise, I might be amenable to changing my vote.
As to the posted combat log, well, the Mauler was crushed like an insect. Maulers may be a challenge for Force users, but compared to the levels the Godborn operate at, they are nothing.

I think it was a mix of a surprise round and, as the GM said, a power being too strong. If we didn't have Ffon and Kal, this would have had more at least sone back and forth.

What would you like to see changed to change to my vote? It's very train-of-thought ish, but I think lends to both being sensible and using our powers and a bit to just living and interacting without knowing what they are going to say all the damm time
edit: Very eager for suggestions on how to refine vote, ppl
