The three destroyers and their escorts had engaged their camouflage technology quickly after discovering themselves so far from their own territory, but had stayed near the Galaxian Gate in case someone had noticed the mistake and sent someone a probe or something through, but no such luck so far. Either the problem had not been yet discovered, or they simply didn't know where the missing ships had ended up. Those issues seemed somewhat academic somewhat quickly however.

Though they did not use warp travel, the strange energy emissions it gave off were detectable to the Radiant Sun's sensors, though they weren't attuned to pick them up, so the three captains did not know how what was coming for very long, and they couldn't quite tell what it was.

The three had been conferencing since they had arrived, and had decided to elect Captain Kurgin of the RSS Viictis as temporary leader of their little squadron, on account of his greater experience over Captains Yiron of the RSS Saffon, and Velgrii of the RSS Gurnin.

When the ships arrived, it was too late to move away from the Gate, the most likely cause of the alien ships' arrival. Unlike the Radiant Sun warships, the new arrivals did not seem to be making any attempt at stealth, though none of the Captains could quite say if that meant anything other than a lack of effective stealth technology on their part. For now their ships would wait in a holding pattern, their heavy fighters, interceptors and corvettes spread in a tiered claw formation with three destroyers at their center.

"Several unknown gravitational wells identified. Only gravimetric sensors are reporting."
"Have you restarted the other sensors?" Karrik asked the young sensor officer.
The young Crssian nodded. "Yes Sir. Still only gravimetric sensors reporting." He seemed confused.
"Something is there." Karrik said to himself. "Energy to weapons and shields. The other ships shall take escort formation."
Juglus voice bubbled: "Then we should find out what is hiding from our sensors."
Karrik turned towards the weapons officer.
"At my mark painting the anomaly with the rangefinder. Watch for an angle that brings the anomalies between us and the gate. Then fire. If there is nothing to see at the gates surface, there must be something. And I think, considering the fact, this gate was apparently activated, we should try to contact these 'anomalies'".
He smiled. This boring patrol job was going to get exciting.

The low powered ships fired low powered rangefinders through the blackness of space, no doubt hoping to catch the ships in the space between themselves and the Gate. Their light-based range finder system, instead of merely ending on one side of the ship however was absorbed on one side by the ships' light adaptive hulls, and the same wavelength and intensity light was projected out the other side, as all environmental light sources were, to provide a more perfect stealth. The system even made it appear the light was traveling through the ships' location, even though it in truth did not pass through the space occupied by the ship.

Whether the aliens' ship systems would be fooled by this ruse remained to be seen.

"Nothing." The sensor officer said.

Juglus' tentacles waved over the display of bis datapad. "I think it's exactly the opposite." He seemed to be vers happy.
"There was a delay between the time the beam should have travelled and the time it really needed."
"So, there is something! Send calls in every chanel. Unknown ships near the gate. Decloak immediately! Otherwise we have to activare weapons and engage."

As the message blared against all frequencies, some were detectable and intelligible to the destroyers' machines. On the Viictis, Kurgin turned to his communications officer, "So, did we get anything?" The large bulky figure of Captain Kurgin, a Jorruk, leaned forward in anticipation. His skin could not form the colorful patterns of the Thurakur, but his concern could was still plain. "It appears to be a dialect of the Galaxians' language. Despite the differences, the translator should have no trouble with it." Kurgin nodded, "Let's hear it then." as the message played, his mouth turned down into a scowl, his lips parting to reveal sharp teeth. "Well, they seem to outgun us, we hardly have a choice. Relay the message to all other ships, have them revert to standard emissions and hull patterning."

With the order given, the space in front of the Galaxian Gate suddenly revealed the ships in their formation, Radiant Sun standard patterning, with the Divine Sunburst projecting white bars down the back and sides of the light blue ships. All the fleet was visible, consisting of three destroyers, an escort of corvettes and heavy fighters

The sensor officers voice sounded: "We have contact! Three ships. About 500 meters long, functional design plus a few escorts."
"Impressive cloaking technology. Very impressive." commented Juglus. And continued to work on his datapad while Karrik turned towards the helmsman. "Bring us closer to them. But don't too close. I don't want to provocate hostilities."

The small fleet began approaching the unknown vessels. They accelarated towards the gate.
"Unknown vessels, state your intentions. You are close to the borders of the Crssian Commonwealth so we recommend you to return. Answer immediately."
Karrik was tense. In case the unkown ships were up for some trouble they probably could cause some damage ore even worse.
"Deploy beacon."
He said quietly to Juglus.

"Keep our weapons trained on their ships." Kurgin barked as the other fleet began heading towards his ships -his ships, how quickly he began to think of them that way in a combat situation- "Can we translate into their dialect of Galaxian yet?" He asked the comms officer, who shook his head in reply, "We can translate it fairly accurately one way but until we can get a more complete sampling and feed it through our computers, any message we try to send back in that dialect could be fucked up in any number of ways." Kurgin thought about this and grimaced deeper. "Then translate our reply into Standard Galaxian before sending it, but send the original copy along with the translation. I don't want them to confuse us for someone we're not." When the comms officer signaled readiness Kurgin cleared his throat and gave his reply, "This is Captain Kurgin of the RSS Viictis, acting commander of this force. Through malfunction or personal error we were sent through the Galaxian Gate to the wrong coordinates. Return is impossible, at this moment, as we lack the tools designed to interface with and program the Gates. For us to do so manually will a considerable length of time."

"They responded!"
"Great!" answered Karrik. The comm officer continued axiously: "It's Galaxian language."
"Not great."
"Ah, they send a second message. It's in some unknown language. Could this be a trick?" The sensor officer looked very unsure. Karrik thought about this. "Maybe... but at first we should listen to their message." The message was played.
"I think they are honest. Try to translate the second message based on the one in Galaxian. But we should go the safe way." He swiftly wiped across his display and send an order.

Only a few seconds later a squadron of 6 Wing-Class Cruisers and one Messier-Class Battleship appeard with a slight flare. The ships stayed at distance. Atampting not to provoke hostile response.

Karrik smiled. "Now we have some backup. Send our response to our visitors. Tell them we are willing to help. But they have to deactivate their weapons."

"Sir, I'm receiving a communication. It says... they're willing to help us, but they want us to deactivate our weapons." This message from the comms officer came shortly after the message from the sensors officer announcing the arrival of a number of very large warships - warships because their weaponry was prominent and seemed quite potent. If Kurgin's reptilian snout could twist itself into a deeper grimace it would have, but as it was he resorted to merely grunting a low bass note, one distinctly to the note of challenge, to those familiar with the Jorruk, before responding to the comms officer, "Relay to the rest of the ships, we don't have much of a choice here with all that firepower. All ships stand down weaponry, but be ready to power up at a moments notice if this goes south." The message went out and the comms officer looked to Kurgin again, "Sir, do you want to send a message to the alien ships?", Kurgin shook his head in reply, "They are the ones giving the orders here apparently, we will see how they respond to our compliance first."

The sensor readings showed the foreign ships deactivating their weapons. Everyone on the bridge seemed relieved. Karrik raised from his chair. "Ask them, whether they are willing to pick up a boarding party Juglus do you want to join my team?"
"Captain" The comm officer asked in surprise "You want board one of this vessels?" Karrik, halfway out of the bridge, answered: "Of course. I want to know what kind of visitors we have. And maybe we can gather some information about their species and technology."
Juglus followed him waving his tentacles in excitement.

They entered the main hangar. Karrik was already slipping in an evo-suit, when Juglus asked: "Are you sure, they let us board one of their ships? We are still alien to them. 7 of our warships have their weapons aimed at them. I don't think they would like some of us putting our feet on their deck."
"I think, I'm sure, they'll accept. they have no choice but trusting us." Karrik sealed his suit.

"They want to come aboard our ship?" Instead of becoming even more unhappy, Kurgin seemed a bit intrigued, scratching at his spiky head in contemplation. "Yes yes, very well, coordinate as best you can with their ship to arrange for a pickup." He turned to his second in command Ciirin and the ships' head Priest Braandir, "It seems we will have to put on our formal best, we are receiving dignitaries." Ciirin's coronal frill rippled with the coloring of restrained amusement, though is face was completely serious, "Do you think it the best choice of action sir? We don't know what they hope to gain from such a meeting." Kurgin shrugged and motioned for them to head out, their clothes shifting into the appropriately formal color patterns as he walked, "Well I know some what they likely hope to accomplish, and hopefully it will be to our good, but we will gain something as well. I wish to learn whose these distant aliens are. Besides, if they're on our ship, and willingly, hopefully their friends will point their weapons elsewhere." He clacked his teeth together, his own sign of amusement. He somehow did not predict the enemy fleet would point their guns elsewhere simply to save a few lives, even important lives.
Later (slightly) at the docking hatch
Kurgin stood in front, flanked by Ciirin to his right and Braandir to his left, with an honor guard to the sides, as they stood to greet the aliens as they come on to his ship, the RSS Viictis. The halls were bright and well lit, the hull inside projecting a neutral white coloring, though with ultraviolet undertones that Kurgin himself could not see, though he knew would be there. He stood tallest, at 8 feet and 5 inches tall, the white Divine Sunburst on blue background on one shoulder and side of his chest, and with a holographic projections of his medals on the other, the bars of his rank on both sides, and his own traditional Jurrok golden armor plates on his neck and frill. His uniform, was also in the formal black with dark blue and ultraviolet trim. Ciirin's uniform was identical, save for the different medals and rank bars. Braandir was dressed in a formal uniform as well, but his had the Divine White Sunburst on blue, with the sun in the center projecting white bars across the blue all across his chest and body. He also had his rank on both sides and his medals holographically projected. The two Thurakur stood about a head shorter than him, Ciirin 7 feet 6 inches tall, Braandir a shorter 7 feet 2 inches. The two Thurakur had their coronal frills extended in a welcoming fashion, a similar bright white as the ship's corridor being displayed by both the frills and their faces. The three stood, waiting to receive their visitors.

"I dont like this." Kirlath said, as the Sensors showed that the Contacts began to spread out around them. "Turn the Ship slighty, so we point at the Node." The Exteria began to turn slighty and pointed itself to the Node. "We jump, If the Contacts do hostile Actions." she said and the Navigation Officer loomed his finger over the Jump Command, just waiting to enter the Command. Meanwhile, they still watched the Contacts.

Admiral Raiidan pointed towards the projection at the front of the bridge, the picture a 3d image created from the information provided by the frigate and the heavy corvettes. "It's moving, I don't think that's just a repositioning of a station or a satellite, I think we can safely say that this is a ship." She looked around the bridge, looking for any signs of disagreement. None of her bridge crew, or the scientists on the link voiced any such disagreement, so she continued. "We still can't be sure if it's automated or not but I think we should seek contact either way. Captain Aldaba, please send a brief contact message in both standard Galaxian and in the Radiant Tongue, if you would."

On the RSS Hessese Captain Aldaba acknowledged the order and had the prepared message sent from his own ship in a broad spectrum of signals and frequencies towards the alien ship. The message was the standard contact opening message, "We greet you on behalf of the Radiant Sun Ascendant, in His Glory, and wish to engage in peaceful contact on behalf of both our peoples and yours. If you can understand this message please respond."

The small group stood ready waiting for the airlock to open. Two Crssians, one Coruplus and one Assertian. Karrik, the leader of the group, stepped forward and raised his wrist to his mouth.
"Open airlock."
With a hiss the pressure of the airlock adapted to the pressure of the foreign ship.
The airlock opened and the group of 4 beings clad in evo-suits began to move inside the unknown vessel.
As soon, as they stepped trough the mist the pressure change created, they saw the alien beings. The most noticable of them was about 2,5 metres tall. Karrik was surprised to see at least 2 different species. Apparently they encountered another civilization which consists of several member species. He examined the holographic medals and ribbons the tallest of them wore. He turned towards him and began to speak in Galaxian: "I'm Commander Karrik. I hope you don't mind us wearing this suits but we tend to be very careful. Welcome to the Crssian Commonwealth."

The first thing the visitors might notice was the high gravity, assuming they were used to gravity like Earth's. The ship's own gravity generators attuned to roughly that of the Thurakur homeworld of Gurn which is about 1.6 the size of Earth, with a gravity to match. The atmosphere in side, if they could detect it with their suits, was also greater than on Earth to a fair degree.

As the Galaxian was translated by a small device on the side of Kurgin's head, Kurgin nodded and replied, speaking in the language of the Thurakur, the Radiant Tongue, which was translated out loud a moment after he spoke into Standard Galaxian. Kurgin attempted to pace and time his movements to be more in tune with the translated speech than with his own words, which might look a bit awkard as he gestured first to himself and then to the two men beside him.

"Thank you for your gracious welcome. I am Captain Kurgin, of the ship RSS Viictis, of the Radiant Sun Holy Navy. These two men beside me are my First Officer Ciirin, and our ship's primary Priest, Braandir. We bid you greeting on behalf of the Radiant Sun Ascendant, in His Glory."

The first impression as they entered the Viictis was the gravitation. Unusual high. Juglus had major problems to move. The other Crssian went forth helping Juglus. But Juglus was too busy gathering every information about the foreigners he could get and save it in his mind. Technology, physiology, behavior.
He was eager to know everything about them.
The tallest of them began to speak and a device on the side of his head translated his speech to Galaxian.
Karrik smiled slightly noticing the effort his counterpart made synchronizing his gestures to the translated words.

"Nice to meet you Captain Kurgin." He made a gesture pointing at his companions. "These men are our Head Scientist Juglus, First officer Cranik and Flight Commander Grooh." His smile widened. "How about telling us about the incident, that brought you to this place so far from the core."

Kurgis noted the different body shapes under the suits as differing somewhat immediately, and their seeming distress. He supposed he shouldn't be surprised, since most species in the Ascendant found the Thurakur's preferred gravity, close that of their homeworld, to be rather high. In the military branches, and the navy particularly, you were trained to live in gravity of that level or higher mostly because defaulting ships to common standards like that was easier and Thurakur were by far the most common species in the Ascendant, and because it helped keep them strong and fit, though he admitted the Jorruk had an advantage over other races there. It was also fairly hot by his standards, but the Thurakur, though their homeworld was incredibly hot by other species' standards, could handle a wide range of temperatures.

He responded to the one who had spoken, whose name Kurgis hadn't caught. "Well, accidents like this are very rare, but the other aspects of the incident were fairly mundane. We were sent to bolster a border patrol, so we went through one of the Galaxian Gates to get to our staging area, but a malfunction or something similar in the computers we use to interface with the gates must have sent us to the wrong Gate. The Computers are rigorously tested and updated to avoid that kind of mistake but freak accidents can happen."

Karriks helmet display showed data gathered about the environment. The readings were quite clear. At least the Crssians can't survive in an atmosphere of this kind. Not to mention the Coruplus.
He looked around quickly before facing Kurgis again. Their technology seemed to be on an lower up to equal level to the Commonwealth'. Just a short estimation; nothing precise.

"So you actively use the Gates? Interesting." His thoughts raced. The commonwealth never used the gates. Their jumpdrives provided much faster and safer travel. So they blocked every gate in their territory. "You should be glad you hit this gate. Every gate inside our borders is blocked. And it would be a shame if all of you would've got killed just due to a trivial malfunction."

Kurgin grunted in some mild surprise, "You don't use the Gates huh? Then what do you use? And if you just block them, do you think you could get one started up? Otherwise it's going to be a long trip for us back to our own territory. Our FTL isn't nearly as fast as the Gates, since the Gates are basically instant." He noticed none of the suited individuals had removed their suits, though they must surely have a way to measure the atmosphere. "I take it our environs aren't as hospitable to you as to us? If you'd prefer we could join you on one of your ships, or we could head to one of the briefing rooms so we don't all have to stand around."

Karrik waited till the translation ended. "We use our own FTL technology. Most details are classified. The only thing I can tell you, it provides instant travel between two points." He smiled. "I think we could get a hauler and carry your ships away from here." His face hardened. "But only further inside our territory. And of course, we could take a short walk. It's up to your where to go. But I think my friend here" he pointed at Juglus "would be happy if he gets into a low G Zone. Or we could bring him a powered suit."

"I'm sorry to inform you there aren't any low-g zones on the ship at present time, though we might be able to lower the gravity in a segment to one that's more accommodating. All ships are kept at the Thurakur standard gravity otherwise." Kurgin thought about the distances involved as he replayed the translation in his own mind, "To what end, unless you mean you can unstop one of your gates? Or you have another way to our territory. Otherwise, I feel we'd probably be better off staying here. We can devise a method of controlling the gate, though it will take far longer than I'd prefer."

He did not include the unspoken fact that he would sooner die than let his ship or its technology fall into any alien hands, no matter how generous they were to him or his crew. He was a military man after all. He had hoped they would accept him onto one of their ships. He wanted as good a view of their technology as he was currently receiving.

"I think,in this case it would be better heading to one of our meeting rooms. There we can discuss our further actions. If you don't mind." He made a gestrue towards the airlock.
Of course he wouldn't mind. He can gather information about our technology. And of course he refuses being hauled into our territory. I would so either. So, lets return the favor.

Nodding to his honor guard, who remained in position, Kurgin, Ciirin, and Braandir followed the aliens to the airlock of their shuttle. He hoped it was large enough to accommodate all of them. He hadn't so far seen a species of his or the Thurakur's size, so he would guess their ships would probably be built to a slightly smaller scale, at least inside. He knew the fact that he was heading to one of the aliens' ships would be relayed to the other two Captains and was mostly unconcerned. He didn't think the aliens would try and kidnap him or take his ships by force, at this stage anyway, and he trusted he would be safe enough on their ship.

"Warning, changing to 1 G." the alert sounded through the white, functional but somehow sleek corridors.
Short time after the shuttle arrived, a squad of Crssian guards stood ready in traditional order to welcome the captain and his guests. Their grey armor was polished like a mirror. The red lenses ond the left side of their helmets glowed in sharp contast. Their scatter-guns at ready. Showing of the might of the Commonwealth. The Assertian leader of the guard wore a black and red uniform and saluted as the air lock opened. The group of beings entered the Blizzard.

Kurgin walked into the alien ship, immediately noticing how much colder it was than their own ship. Fortunately, both he and his companions could withstand cold temperatures, in no small part due to their large size, and their uniforms could provide some thermal heating, designed mostly for emergencies when their was a hull breach leaching air and heat. The next thing he noticed was how much thinner the air was. He was used to breathing the thick, heady, and somewhat soupy air mixture the Thurakur were used to, and consequently he as well. The Thurakur had of course realized long ago many worlds would not have as thick an atmosphere, so they were accustomed to a lower oxygen level, though he could tell they were both breathing more deeply. As they looked about, the two Thurakur's skin was shifting into colors of curiosity and attentiveness as they looked about, shades of yellows, browns and greens flowing across their faces and coronal frills. Of course, the gravity was lower as well, and Kurgin took a moment to limber up a bit, relaxing some of his muscles accustomed to a higher gravity.

"Your preferred temperature does seem quite a bit lower than ours, I can tell. My officers are used to a thicker atmosphere as well as I mentioned, they may be a bit short of breath until they accustom themselves to the oxygen and pressure onboard your ship, so we should perhaps take it slow before we head to a conference room, as I believe you suggested."
