Welcome to Geode. I have been inspired by Kingdom Hearts: Gathering Lights and other similar Crusader Kings II Quests on Sufficient Velocity and on Spacebattles to begin a Steven Universe Colony Builder Quest. It will be a reboot of an earlier Steven Universe Quest of the same name that I started -- Inflame -- but it will be the first Crusader Kings II Quest I will attempt to write, please feel free to offer any comments and/or advice.

In this quest you will start off as the Leader of one of three potential Gem Domains five hundred rotations after the end of Rose Quartz' Rebellion. It will be up to all of you to turn the Domain you pick into an Empire.
[] Beta Kindergarten, Facet Nine, Earth:
The smaller and less developed of the two Kindergarten created on Earth, the Beta Kindergarten was created halfway through Rose Quartz's Rebellion against the Great Diamond Authority to get more Quartz Soldiers on the ground in order to compete with Rose Quartz' forces. It was rushed, and because the facility was created under poor conditions, it led to the Gems produced there being defective.

Production in the Beta Kindergarten ceased prior to the end of the Rebellion when Rose Quartz' beat back the Homeworld Gems stationed there, took it and shut it down. However, while rose quartz and her forces managed to cease production, they were not able to do so before the newest batch of Quartz Soldiers had been injected into the soil....

High Diplomacy, High Stewardship, Medium Learning, Medium Piety, Low Martial and Low Intrigue. [High Starting Stats, Low Growth Rate]
[] Prime Kindergarten, Facet One, Mars:
The first and only kindergarten created on Mars, the Prime Kindergarten was created in Facet One halfway through Rose Quartz' Rebellion to get more Quartz Soldiers on the ground in order to compete with Rose Quartz' forces, created at the same time as the Beta Kindergarten was created on Earth. It was not as rushed as the Beta Kindergarten on Earth was, but because the facility was created on a planet with such poor conditions, it was foreseen that the Gems produced there would be defective.

Production in the Prime Kindergarten did not cease production prior to the end of the Rebellion: production ceased five hundred rotations later when the Prime Kindergarten ran out of resources. Due to the poor conditions of the planet, it took longer than expected for the Quartz Soldiers injected there to emerge from the earth. By the time that the Quartz Soldiers emerged from the earth, the Rebellion had ended....

High Piety, High Diplomacy, Medium Learning, Medium Stewardship, Low Intrigue and Low Martial. [Low Starting Stats, High Growth Rate]
[] Prime Kindergarten, Facet One, Venus:
The first and only Kindergarten created on Venus, the Prime Kindergarten was created in Facet One halfway through Rose Quartz' Rebellion to get more Quartz Soldiers on the ground in order to compete with Rose Quartz' forces, created at the same time as the Beta Kindergarten was created on Earth. It was not as rushed as the Beta Kindergarten on earth was, but because the facility was created on a planet that required extensive terraforming to transform it into something of use, it was foreseen that the Gems produced there would come in near or at the end of the Rebellion.

Production in the Prime Kindergarten did not cease production prior to the end of the Rebellion and is still currently ongoing. Unfortunately, due to the actions of Rose Quartz near the end of the Rebellion, Homeworld Gems were ordered to evacuate Venus and the Earth. The Quartz Soldiers that had emerged at that time were ordered to evacuate, but in the chaos of the evacuation itself, a few were left behind....

High Martial, High Intrigue, Medium Stewardship, Medium Diplomacy, Low Learning and Low Piety. [Normal Starting Stats and Growth Rate]

Attributes
Like Crusader Kings II, each character in this quest will have base attributes which are then impacted by their traits. The total will be shown in the character datasheets. Base attributes will mostly be gained during "childhood" through education and experience, but will also be able to be altered by events.

Some events and event chains will have certain choices open only if you have a qualifying level of an attribute.

Diplomacy
The Diplomacy attribute is a measure of a character's ability to negotiate and/or please others. It is responsible for increasingly everyone's opinion toward a character [except those who see personal diplomacy], increases the effectiveness of gifts and reduces the danger of factions.

Intrigue
The Intrigue attribute is a measure of a character's ability to manipulate others and scheme. it is responsible for increasing plot power, decreasing the power of plots against characters and making it less likely for characters' plots to be discovered.

Learning
The Learning attribute is a measure of a character's knowledge. It is responsible for boosting technological acquisition and increasing a character's Piety.

Martial
The Martial attribute is a measure of a character's ability for warfare and combat. It is responsible for affecting battles in which a character is the commander, boosting military technological acquisition and increasing the rate at which a character's armies recover morale.

Stewardship
The Stewardship attribute is a measure of a character's ability to manage their domain. It is responsible for increasing a character's domain limit, boosting economical technological acquisition and increasing a character's domain income.
Traits
Like Crusader Kings II, each character will have traits to represent their personality, abilities, reputation and physical characteristics. Traits affect a wide range of areas, from attributes to relations. Traits are tied to certain events occurring or affect which options are available in events.

Gemetic
Gemetic traits are assigned to characters at the moment of formation [although some traits -- like Stutter -- can also be gained through events in a characters life]. These traits are responsible for determining the overall quality of the Gem -- which ranges from 'perfect' to 'defective' -- and determining defects and the severity of the defects of a defective Gem.
Piety
In Crusader King's II, Piety allows a character to make the clergy like them more, allows a character to gain a specific title, allows a character to create or usurp a title for less wealth and increases moral authority of religious heads. It can be used to request favors from religious heads [requesting invasion, divorce, excommunication, lifting excommunication, duchy and county claims, asking for money], be used in execution, be used in wars, creating a kingdom and creating an empire.

Piety works much the same in Geode as it does in Crusader King's II, but it is also a measure of a character's ability in magic. For example, Piety would affect Shapeshifting, Warping, Weapon Summoning and Usage of Magical Artifacts.

Learning boosts piety, but what's piety do?

That's helpful, but I've a couple more questions.

What's gem religion? Who are gem clery? Religious heads? Do we worship homeworld, or a specific diamond, or what?

As it doubles as magic stat, does that imply that devoutness to homeworld directly affects a gem's ability to perform magic, or is it possible to have a highly magical areligious character? Perhaps we can be devout to the crystal gems or earth as a substitute?

Sorry for all these questions right off the bat, but as piety is one of the starting stats I want to be aware of what I'm voting for :)

Bring it on...!

Gem beliefs and spirituality are never explored in detail in Steven Universe, but there is evidence of organized religion due to the existence of "temples" as well as a "Moon Goddess".

The Gem Clergy are the body of all Gem ordained for religious duties. The religious head is the Gem that holds the highest position within a religion: if there is more than one religion, there will be more than one religious head.

It depends on which Domain is chosen.

It is not that devoutness to the religion affects a Gem's ability to preform magic. It is that devout Gems are more likely to have an ability to preform magic because their religion has given hem an understanding of themselves that they might not have had otherwise. An areligious Gem could develop a similar ability to preform magic at a similar if not higher level of Piety, but it will require them to have a similar or better understanding of themselves.

It's a little confusing, but I hope it helps.

Maybe I should rename Piety into something else to make it easier to understand...? Or divide it?

It's fine.

That does help, thanks a bunch!

As for renaming or diving piety... I'm content with things as they are after your explanation, but it's an option to keep in mind while going forward if it seems necessary.

The most important thing is keeping it simple and easy to work with, mostly for your sake. So you do you, boo.

As for what to vote...

I like the stewardship and diplomacy of earth, and the ability to interact with humans and crystal gems. I'm wary about the low growth rate though, and the high chance of conflict with low martial.

Mars is basically a reboot of the last quest, different style but same legacy. Low starting stats plus high growth creates a natural progression that should be fun to read. A bit removed from earth events though, and I'm not sure what we can expect to find there in terms of resources and factions.

Venus is the only kindergarten that doesn't produce deficient gems, but like mars is a bit removed from events. Balanced start & growth.

I imagine Venus will be our group growing and conquering other groups in a martial takeover of the planet. Mars will be a colony builder as we try to tap into the planet's resources and recreate technology while competing or working with others, and Earth will be more personal than the others as we deal with humanity n' junk.

I really want to see what earth can give us, but I'm hopeful mars will take us to earth eventually and we can interact with them from a more advantageous position. Plus bandwagon ho! And piety.

You're welcome!

Thanks, boo.

I think that I'll leave it as it is right now since it will be easier to leave it as it is.

I will begin the introduction post once I return from Western Washington on Sunday.

I would start now since the domain selection is unaminous, but I don't have a computer or access to a computer right now. Just my cell-phone.

Is this to say that Gems will have be less uniform and have more individual personality, or dose this mean that we will occasionally get Gems with serious "birth defects" and have crippled/ handicapped Gems that are missing a few body parts? Maybe both at the same time? Well it is either Mars or Venus for me ,and even though boys are supposed to be from Mars, I will be voting for Mars because the back story clues seems to have more long term potential.

Gems will have similar personality traits but they will not be uniform in personality. For example, Rubies are able to focus on one thing to the exclusion of all else, but Ruby and the Ruby Squad are not uniform in personality.

Yes.

Yes.
I have a question. if we choose earth, what would happen with the humans?
Interesting question. :)

The humans would become more aware of Gems and the Crystal Gems then they were in Canon, and all that comes with that.
