Genius Loci Quest

You may all want to have a look at this link about High Concepts.

Solver of mysteries looks like a good aspect, but not really like a high concept. A high concept is more like what you would describe the character as to someone who never read the quest. Basically you lack some kind of reference to the fact that you're a genius Loci tree. For reference, I believe Harry Dresden's High Concept is "The only Wizard private-eye in Chicago's yellow pages"

"Blessing of growth" and "Poet tree" are closer, but lack ... pizzazz somehow. Perhaps you could combine them with solver of mysteries somehow?

Brainstorm this rather than bandwagon. ;) It'll define the rest of the quest. Also, I'll pick the one I like best rather than the one with most votes for this one vote. (Though of course I'll take it into consideration)
Alrighty then.

[X] [High concept] Sentient Tree of Investigation

EDIT:

[X] Stealthily stalking the source of the noise.
[X] The contemplative one which pulls on all your magnetic senses.
[X] Groaning, you got up and stretched, uncomfortably favouring your wounds. Best double check that whatever this was, it couldn't hurt you.

Hmmm... Maybe something like this?

[X] [High concept] The Greatest Goddamn Tree in the Whole World

They say we aren't a tree? We shall become the tree'est tree that has ever tree'ed. Put your back into it, Atlas, you're holding the ceiling too low for us to stretch our branches. Yggdrasil's gonna look like a alightly-impressive elderberry bush once we're known to the world.
Just think of all the CO2 we could photosynthesize away!

Profane arboreal aspects are entirely optional.

In the end, you only found your goal by...
[X] Figuring out where it was going and waiting there for it.

And what are you really? Yes, you're a tree and a spirit, but neither is the answer they want. They want an answer both more and less than that.

What do you answer?
[:V] [High concept] Path to Victory
[X] Blessing of Growth
Which one do you choose?
[X] The electric one with the hollow voice

On the other hand, it had gone away and you were so tired.
[X] Groaning, you got up and stretched, uncomfortably favouring your wounds. Best double check that whatever this was, it couldn't hurt you.
(+self-discipline, +???, potentially dangerous encounter)

Arboreal Sherlock Holmes
That might actually be a really good High Concept, you know; if the setting wasn't way, way, waaay before the 18th century. And a different world entirely. On the other hand, we all know what it means...

Alrighty then.

[X] Sentient Tree of Investigation
Do remember to revote for the rest of the options when you switch one vote. It's difficult to count the votes otherwise.

[:V] [High concept] Path to Victory
I'm assuming this is a joke vote, but if it isn't you should think about how you might invoke or compel it.

Actually, that goes for all of you and all your aspect suggestions.

Aww, here I hoped we could've been literally damned by god due to multiple meanings of phrases...

Still works though.
No no, you're actually blessed by the gods. Not darned.
Well, you will be.

We're more then just a sentient tree, we're also a genius loci. The tree might be our avatar/primary body, but the entire surrounding area is us. I think a high concept should reflect that not just our treeness. Though admittedly I was tempted to just write [ ] THE Tree. We are that which other trees are defined by!

Of course I'm having problems thinking of a way to actually combine tree and genius loci into a reasonably catchy high concept. Best I got is replace tree with Forest. So

High Concept
[ ] The Primeval Forest
alternatively
[ ] The Primeval Forest Reborn

The reborn thing might work better? We are the reincarnation or something of the original genius loci THE Tree. I was also thinking of things like Forest of Knowledge or Forest of Souls as alternative high concepts.

Which is why my vote is a good vote!

We can invoke it when investigating something, and we can be compelled to investigate something.

Easy!
Just so you're aware that if you take the compel to investigate it will inevitably cause complications or drama.

Interesting train of thought. Although, as a very young genius loci, you're not very big. You're basically just the tree and the ground covered by its canopy. Maybe a tiny bit more. This will obviously grow with time as you age and become stronger.

I prefer "The Primeval Forest Reborn" over simply "The Primeval Forest" because it adds something to the setting. It introduces the concept of reincarnation, which I might not necessarily have used otherwise.

Don't be afraid of inventing things. One of the purposes of aspects is to introduce new things into the setting. So if, for example, you were making a character for a Fate game set in a fantasy court setting and made their High Concept and Trouble "Bumbling apprentice of the High Sorcerer" and "The Oracles of Orkoi want me dead" respectively. Then even though they were never mentioned before, you establish (with the GM's approval of course) several new elements to the setting. That the office of High Sorcerer exists, that there is a group known as the Oracles of Orkoi and that they are probably antagonistic. It also prompts you to create a reason they might want you dead.

What I'm saying here is give me some ideas to flesh out the setting, because it is disturbingly bare so far.

Don't admit it. What you mean is ' I'm a great story teller and would love audience participation. So please, suggest background details and I'll weave them into a coherent narrative'.
Its basically the same thing.
Except you don't smell weak.
Which is important because Questers are 60% Munchkin and 50 % shark.

Ah, the wonders of "everything makes sense here, I have it all planned out."

It serves me well.
Which is important because Questers are 60% Munchkin and 50 % shark.
We... are?

That's news to me.

Well, obviously I could do it myself, I'm just lazy ... :V

[X] The Primeval Forest Reborn

[X] The familiar sounding one who smells of cedar
This one seems interesting if my concept wins. Maybe they used to be friends/allies with our old self. Or possibly offspring of some sort?

[X] Groaning, you got up and stretched, uncomfortably favouring your wounds. Best double check that whatever this was, it couldn't hurt you.

Yeah, I'll stick with Primeval Forest Reborn then. Introduce both reincarnation and the fact that there was at one point a mystical forest that was the source of trees/forests or whatever. And I suppose it also might introduce an enemy. Can't be reborn if the old you is still alive, so something had to have happened to the First Primeval Forest. Sure it could have just been a natural disaster, but it being an enemy entity seems more interesting.

It actually smells familiar because it's affiliated with the same element you are.

Sure. I figured as much. But hey you asked us to help flesh things out, and suggesting that there was more to the familiarity then just the same element was part of that. Admittedly said suggestions might contradict what you already had planned for them so oh well.

There'll be an update sometime later today, but I think I'm going to keep the High Concept vote open a bit longer.

I'm just going to do a few rolls and stuff.
