Didn't see one around, and I kinda just wanted a thread where I could talk about giant cartoon robots with any other like-minded individuals who too enjoy giant cartoon robots of all sorts. Evangelion and SBY got their own threads (with the latter's status as mecha depending on whether or not you considered it a fitting entry into SRW V), and you've got Transformers with its own as well, so I decided: "hey, why not make a thread just for giant robot shows in general?"

So here we are.

Hi, I like giant robots. What shows do people dig? Any robot media people currently consuming? Personally, I've been catching up on Shinkalion (which is honestly a super legit kids' transforming train robot show) which I fell behind on earlier in the year.

More people should watch Gasaraki.

It's cool and trippy like Evangelion, but I'm the only one who has ever seen it.

Fewer people should watch Aquarion, because it was embarrassingly bad.

Vandread was also kind of embarrassing, but it least it had jokes.

I`m pretty sure the world of mecha anime has left me behind. I can`t think of anything I actually enjoyed later than Mazinkaiser SKL.

I watched Gasaraki, though it was long enough ago I would be hard-pressed to give you the details of its myth arc. The Full Realism mecha were great fun though.

Put me down as a third Gasaraki watcher. I've always dug Takahashi's work.

Watch Gekiganger 3 Martian Successor Nadesico if you haven't, any of you. It's really and truly outrageous, though IT IS A PITY THEY NEVER EVER MADE ANY SEQUELS EVER. Though even then Ruri was still cool.

I love Gasaraki.

Everytime someone mentions they love Code Geass for the mecha battles, I remember the show that laid the way.

I also love how realistic the solution to the non magical problems at the end was.

Has anyone watched Zoids Wild this year? Like yeah, I know I'm way out of the target age demographic for it nowadays, but kids' robot shows have been pretty solid pieces of entertainment to me. Heybot was funky as hell, and Shinkalion's a really heartwarming family show.

Giant Robo is a must watch for people new to the genre
EVERYTHING FOR BIG FIRE!

Gaogaigar is also an excellent giant robot anime to check out. At the start it's a pretty decent Monster of the Week anime, but around ep 31 shit goes down, and continues going down almost nonstop for the rest of the series :D

Ignore FINAL though, it was pretty bad.

I'm very much not a fan of the characters riding the Zoids instead of piloting them like they have in every other series :anger:

I'll give it a few eps to see if the plot/character/action is good enough to get past that.
