Gear of Corruption

Considering I have an alright amount of traffic on this thread, I wonder what is the cause of lack of comment. Not even curiosity about the setting I'm crossing in, or the fact I'm taking some liberties with the setting for the few that know what it is about?

....Nope, I wastn't a buffy fan and guilty gears it's a game I haven't played, so far I don't have any kind of question of the setting or anithing else.

Um I don't know about anybody else but I very rarely comment on stories where half the media confuses me.

I have commented on this story I think like twice but as for others I don't know. one of the reasons why I don't comment more is because of the fact that I have very little to add to the story i don't hate it and the only complaint I have is the fact that I don't know who the assassins after the MC is and that is a plot point.

One question I do have now that I think about is what are the local gods opinions about the fact that there is a powerful mage who is not bound by local magical laws and seems to not care about the way his actions can affect the future.

One of the major players are known as the PTB or the Powers That Be whose abilities include limited future sight so they use small time prophets to push major players in the game to do what they want however there powers are messed up when someone does not follow those so called prophecies like when xander revived buffy with CPR and split the slayer line and they could't follow it for a while so tried repeatedly to kill off buffy.

The MC is not bound by the fact that he is forced to follow any prophecies so the Old Gods like Zeus and Odin could use him as a proxy if he agrees to it. Just a few thoughts that I think could help

Edit: I copied Ryuan so that it didn't look that bad sorry for the initial post :(

And there, easier to read. Now let me see here...

Hmm, well, here is how I'm working things out. A bit of spoilers.

The Old Gods like Odin and Zeus had actual prophecies and Fate since they let much more powerful third parties control it, like the Norms or the Fates. Those prophecies are iron clad and any attempts to escape them are doomed to failure, basically making the prophecy come true through irony.

The PTB prophecies... aren't. Which will be a plot point so that's enough of a hint.

Is it wrong that I'm picturing Xander becoming a magic gunman in the future, possibly with a BFG?

Also please keep up the good work.

While I know the Buffy fairly well (It was the second Fandom that got me into Fanficiton), I know zilch about Guilty Gear and have holding myself back from checking wiki's so it comes as more of a surprise. On the assassins I don't recognize them offhand, pretty sure there not Teraka though.

I really love the banter between Yu and the others gives me a good chuckle.

At this point I'm just waiting for cannon to start exploding with the little butterfly's that you have started with Xander learning magic from Yu, makes me wonder if Willow will jump on that bandwagon.

But yea I don't really have much to say so far I am enjoying what you have and hoping for some more soon :)

"She's not here then?" I asked Cordelia after she looked around the house.

"Does she looks like she's here?"

"I don't know, I don't live here to know where she could have hidden herself."

"And I do?"

"The way you simply entered the house like you owned it could have fooled me."

"Guys", said Xander from his place behind the kitchen counter, "let's not fight between ourselves, but if you're going to fight anyway I bet fifty on Yu."

Cordelia sent a death glare to Xander and was ready to argue when the bell rang. "I will get the door."

I followed her, making her stop midway through the path. "I can get the door on my own."

"I know", I nodded to her.

"That means I don't need you to come and babysit me."

"I might trust you to get the door", I said with a whisper, "but I don't trust however is outside. Do remember that Buffy isn't the only one that have demon assassins after her hide."

She grimaces, before turning around and we resume our walk. I made sure to raise my magic levels to the highest point possible for my next attack, just to be sure. Once Cordelia opened the door we saw a man in a suit and a bag in hands, displaying some kind of cosmetics on it.

"Good day miss and mister. Would you be interested in sampling a couple of our product line? Compared with other companies our samples are nearly as much as a full product!"

"I'd love to!" Cordelia said before I could say anything, and just like that the salesman practically forced his way inside.

In a sense, it made things simple for me, as I unleashed the Blockhead Buster on his face just as he had entered the house proper, three blasts of fire consuming him and sending him back outside. Normally not a power that sends people tumbling down, but then again they had the handy barrier spell set up beforehand.

As he collapsed on the ground Cordelia screamed at the sight and smell of charred flesh, but just as she was about to demand to know why I did that the man in front of us started to wiggle and slowly break off into smaller chunks of worms.

"Gunflame! Gunflame! Gunflame! Gunflame! Gunflame! Gunflame!"

After a few moments the worms were nothing but charcoal on the ground, and once more I did my magic recycling thing and got a couple of magic crystals for my trouble. I admit I was a bit desperate to kill it as fast as possible, but then again that thing looked nasty.

"How, how did you know it was a demon?" Finally said Cordelia after she recomposed herself a bit.

"I saw the ring on his finger, which was the same one Buffy brought earlier for us. I guess you didn't notice that."

"I... no, I didn't." She admitted and was ready to say something when she realizes that Xander was standing there and turn away embarrassed. "So what now?"

"G-Man should know where Buffy is, or at least he should know how to find her." Said Xander while taking a peek on the spot where the demon was. "If anything we can always see her tomorrow at classes."

I would quip at how she still goes to classes with demon assassins on her tail, but then again pot meets kettle.

"What other places she could go?" I asked, "if not her house, not Giles apartment, not Willow's house, then where a teenage girl could go to hide for a while?"

Cordelia shrugged. "Her boyfriend's apartment?"

Both me and Xander made a face.

"Angel/Dead Boy."

Rofl, I had forgotten about Angel. Hmm makes me squee in joy at the prospect of his downfall by Yu. Or Xander if he has mastered a fire spell by then.

Well there is one thing to say about all these assassins they are making themselves profitable.

I'm kinda wondering why they're sending one assassin after another to their deaths instead of sending a strike team or something.

Because they might kill other assassin to get the kill?
Maybe rival?
I think since they are assassins, they have different skill set and can't work well together.

They're slowly pushing their boundaries to see how much they can get away with, that's why they're sending one assassin group at the time, and not using things like planting bombs on his apartment building to kill him off at this point.

Of course the fact that Yu made wards on the street, the building and inside his room mean he will know when someone tries that kind of shenanigans.
