From Exclusion to Fantastic Zones (STALKER/Gate)

It liveees!

. . . Oh, god, the equipment info. :D

EDIT: Our 200k rubles is technically for 4 people, right?

Bee, Pheela, Diana, and the rookie?

Bee neds a suit, Pheela... Something to protect her snake body? Diana might like a melee weapon that is durable and cuts through armor, she already has the strength to deal damage. The rookie? No idea.

Mirone is unpaid, but unconscious, so he cant log into his account for the transaction. Mage is also unpaid. They are both owed 40k rubles... unless you want to try your luck with postponing payment.

We still need to pay Mage and the Rookie, so that's 80,000 rubles gone.

We also might want to consider leaving I dunno 20k rubles for repairing the RPG and our AK. Not sure if we have an estimate on how much that will cost.

We do have absolutely shit tons of ammo, though I'm tempted to pick up some armour piercing. After that and the suits we are buying as many VOGs as we can physically carry, plus maybe a hatchet for ourselves and something for Diana. Also smoke grenades, because A. Probably fighting controllers and B. They'll be useful on Falmart. Also, they're like, super cheap.

Just what can she use without breaking? What's more durable, one of those survival hatchets or a crowbar?

Getting a new suit is a priority, then fixing our gear also and at least some AP ammo and grenades for our grenade launcher. Are we in any need of food or water, actually?
"Oleksy, what did you DO! Your brother is terrified, and he seems to think YOU did something. He won't say what though..."
For now, you conclude your business with Owl, who seems amused by your poorly hidden frustration as he inspects the wares and goods you've just sold him. As you are closing your bags and preparing to drop off the heavier items you don't plan on using Owl finally speaks up once more. "So, you have two strange friends now?" He queries, balancing on on arm on the table with his fist propping up the side of his head. "Seems like you really weren't fucking with me on the info. Those boys downstairs are probably dim enough to buy whatever bullshit you fed them, but I can be pretty sure there's nothing in the Zone with a skull like that. She's not wearing that suit I sold you either."
"I try, I really try to not ask where the money comes from Oleksy. I've had thoughts though, and I can't stand the thought of it… please be careful. My little girl… doesn't need that."
Probably working with the Mafia.
Finally, Sultan." He lists of, counting down the fingers from his free hand.

You look back up to face him fully, blinking a bit in some surprise, "Wait, you are seriously just chucking him into the tracks?"

Owl rolls his eyes, "He's been getting ready to do the same to me, has tried to fuck me over on several deals, HAS fucked me over on at least two, and has been doing some shady shit with his boys that stand a chance of fucking up all the nice things I have going here. Frankly, with the literal goddamn goldmine you are finding for me, I have better contacts lined up, and it'd be really convenient if he were to have a tragic accident while walking naked through one of Freedom's minefields."
Good to know.
"We never had major interactions with them. None of their number sought the blessing of the hunt over the years,
Damn, they've been there that long.
Just what can she use without breaking? What's more durable, one of those survival hatchets or a crowbar?
Crowbar.

Upkeep and maintenance comes first.

Anything else left over I say we should invest in ammo and medical supplies.
No, we're good on Ammo. I mean we just have so much ammo. About the ammo we don't have is the armour piercing stuff which I'm vaguely interested in picking up.

Getting a new suit is a priority, then fixing our gear also and at least some AP ammo and grenades for our grenade launcher. Are we in any need of food or water, actually?
I am going to be voting to have as many VOGs as we can carry. If we have to level the Iron Forest I'll vote for it. Fuck that place and every controller there.

Also we should pick up smokes. Useful against controllers probably and incredibly useful in Falmart.

Getting a new suit is a priority, then fixing our gear also and at least some AP ammo and grenades for our grenade launcher. Are we in any need of food or water, actually?
We can check, but we do know we're going through towns, so we can pay for a bowl of Lentils easy enough. We do have some silver on us. We should pick up some Vodka though, keep Diana happy and make Pheela feel better.

Neat, so a Hatchet for us cause we're going to need something that can punch through Falmart bandit armour.

Honestly, if we want Honeybee to have a quick to use melee weapon aside from his knife to face people in armor, I'd recommend picking the axe. It is cheaper, has utility use and when facing opponents in armor you want to have either piercing or blunt weapons. Blunt side of an axe is a good tool when it comes to cracking skulls and helmets and breaking bones.

Or we could just loot a sword.

Hatchet looks to be the more useful weapon and has more utility in close quarters combat if we get into it.

We don't have any training when it comes to using a sword. A good knife serves us better when it comes to dealing with unarmored threats up close, and if we get in to a tussle with armored opponents we need something that can penetrate a metal armor. Slashing weapons are not really good for that. You need to stab, or cause blunt force trauma. Though if we get ourselves in situation where we're in melee without either Diana or Pheela ready to handle it, then we have been doing something wrong.

Let's see the prices of things we need:

217800 rubles
-80000 for not stiffing anyone on payment.
-47130 for a new suit
-834 for a crowbar for Diana
-6300 for the hatchet for Honeybee cause we know we're going to be in positions where we need a melee weapon. Also, a Hatchet is an understandable weapon for the time.
-2x708 Smoke Grenades
-6x2616 VOG-25 GP (Seriously tempted to get more)

Our knife exploded in Diana's hands, otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

The hatchet is more designed for combat and cutting through armour according to its description, and less likely to snap in half if we swing it into some guys shoulder. Also, the axe is explicitly much more unwieldy compared to the hatchet and probably can't be swung one-handed. We know Falmart armour is of absolutely shit quality. Like understand the appeal of the axe as the cheaper alternative, but the Hatchet most likely has the point at the back as well, which means we can puncture armour.

We'll see if the mercs we killed have a combat knife as well when we go back tomorrow.

Anyways, things we should consider getting:

1x2200 Nemiroff vodka (For Cardan to repair our gear)
3x3350 Stolichnaya vodka

The Stolichnaya generally being because anti-rad medication is expensive and to win over Diana and help Pheela. Though I'm willing to drop the Stolichnaya or atleast 1 Stolichnaya if we plan to give Pheela some of the sleeping pills. Since you know, who the fuck is dumb enough to mix Vodka and sleeping pills?

We need some utility thing. Sadly with our knife gone and the Hatchet being the most compact thing available, it's really the only option. Axe is just too damn unwieldy, and the hatchet most likely has the point at the back.

Hatchet also has the benefit for being useful in survival situations (which considering it's a roman-era fantasy world is everyday) and helping the natives understand we're armed.

Edit: Oh yeah, probably need to pick up ammo for Diana. Eh, we'll see what the mercs have.

Since we have the money, why not go for Bulat? It is better in every way, aside from the price tag.

Right, I forgot we lost our knife, my bad.

Though there is one thing regarding hatchet's ap capabilities. The way the armor is referred to, it seems to be referring to a bullet resistant vest, since it talks about kevlar sheets, not stab resistant vests. Bullet resistant vests are not built to handle bladed weapons, so they're surprisingly easy to penetrate with those.

But in any case, finding a proper combat knife would be nice.

I don't think giving Pheela sleeping pills is a good idea, since those were meant for a human and she's lamia. Though the psyblock did work without problems.

Mediocre Anomaly protection and we need to get a Kolobok. Like yeah, would consider the Bulat otherwise. Admittedly, we do have an Eye and I think we have a heat resistant artifact which should make up for it as the cave is where we're going to get it, can't recall if we have the artifact though. If we do have one then it might be a good idea.

However, we have no stimpacks and no medkits. If we knew how much they go for usually and we can get an estimate on how much it'll cost to fix the RPG (as I think we can fix our AK ourselves) then we can consider buying it. Also means we can consider then getting more VOGs.

Seriously, we need like... every VOG we can get. We very well might need to consider levelling the Iron Forest, it sucks that much.

Edit:

@Qwaar How much do stimpacks and medkits go for usually? And what's Honeybee's best guess on repairing the RPG?

Also, what do we have in our stash?

And does the Hatchet have the point at the back?

Edit edit: Admittedly, Pheela does have a ton of guns on her we need to sell. Those might go into medical supplies.

But Sunrise has only light anomaly protection. And we do have a fireball and a Crystal.
One Eye artifact in Artifact Application Container.
One Eye in lead container
One Fireball in lead container
One Crystal in lead container
One Nightstar in lead container

Check the inventory post in the above quote.

Fair point. Well, we can consider the Bulat then, but I'd like to just get an estimate on how much medical supplies and the repairs will cost. Even a rough ballpark number means we can atleast see if we can afford it though.

We need at least 20000 rubles for repairs at a guess and 20000 rubles for medical supplies. I'm hoping to repair the RPG it's less. So adding up prices:

For the Sunrise:
217800
-80000 for not stiffing anyone on payment.
-47130 for a new suit
-834 for a crowbar for Diana
-6300 for the hatchet for Honeybee cause we know we're going to be in positions where we need a melee weapon. Also, a Hatchet is an understandable weapon for the time.

-6x2616 VOG-25 GP (Seriously tempted to get more)
-1x2200 Nemiroff vodka (For Cardan to repair our gear)
-2x3350 Stolichnaya vodka

= 47474 rubles left over.

For the Bulat:
217800
-80000 for not stiffing anyone on payment.
-65490 for a Bulat
-834 for a crowbar for Diana
-6300 for the hatchet for Honeybee cause we know we're going to be in positions where we need a melee weapon. Also, a Hatchet is an understandable weapon for the time.
-2x708 Smoke Grenades
-6x2616 VOG-25 GP (Seriously tempted to get more)
-1x2200 Nemiroff vodka (For Cardan to repair our gear)
-2x3350 Stolichnaya vodka

= 29114 rubles left over.

If we assume we'll get at least 10000 rubles from Pheela's guns that's about roughly 40000 left over. Yeah, it might be worth it to pick up the Bulat.

Yeah, we can wait till @Qwaar pipes in about that.
Yeah, though I really don't want to see the price tag when we have to start buying air tanks.

Hmm, anyways yeah figure we should give Pheela sleeping pills to help her sleep atleast through tonight without nightmares. Doing a bit of research most sleeping pills use antihistamines which are not immediately lethal to animals. Considering Gate's animal people can reproduce with humans and that psyblock which is WAY more likely to cause problems than an antihistamine worked on her we can assume it'll work. Which means no alcohol for her. If we have any money left over we can also buy her and Diana some chocolate or give them our chocolate energy bars which do contain natural anti-depressants. Of course, they have different biology but hey, no therapists in the Zone.

We should probably discuss our plans for the next while. My idea is we spend tomorrow looting and exploring the bunker. Then if we have time we pop into the cave looking for a Kolobok. If we don't then well that's next day. Day after looting will probably be resting stalker style if we don't have to go artifact hunting, which means probably taking Diana up to the Lumber yard to slap around some zombies so we can grab the toolkit there and get her used to guns in a safe environment and then I dunno spending time with Pheela either teaching her the concept of controlled bursts or just getting her to rest. Fourth day probably will be when Mage wants to go to the Iron Forest. Which will suck ass.

Also, we might want to consider gathering the Zaton merchants and telling them about how the Lord wants to trade with the Stalkers. Even Owl.

Like Owl is a prick, an absolute prick. But after going through his questline in game and how he is here he's not a moron. He will not fuck over us for no reason and the village when he basically stands to make an absolutely absurd amount of money. Especially since we know the language. Guys going to want to cut a deal, and it'd be better for us that that happens sooner rather then it happening later.

Beard and Nimble are just obvious. Beard's the unofficial leader of the Loners here and knows about it already. Nimble is literally the nicest guy in the zone and the only person we can go to for rare equipment. He's the only guy other then Sidorovich as probably the one guy who you will make an enemy of every Stalker in the Zone if you piss him off. The three of them also cover equipment and items to sell to Falmart that the others don't. Owl is the only one who can process the Gold. Beard's the only guy who brings in medical supplies and other misc items. Nimble is our go to guy for rare or hard to get equipment, and the guy who can probably help set up solar panels and generators Falmart side. He might even get us some transport, since walking everywhere in Falmart is going to suck.

Now yeah, Owl's probably going to sell guns to the natives. But so is literally every stalker. If we get in good though we can influence who gets the guns and find out where the guns are going so if the empire is stockpiling we can deal with it. Plus absolutely NO ONE will give a shit about us going to Duty because Monolith is like, right there. Us going to Duty means their first thought isn't to cement over that bunker because holy shit Monolith.

Plus hey, we're literally the most valuable man alive to them as we can speak the language and we're going to one of the major cities in Falmart. Could stand to make quite a bit of cash if we set up a good economy.

Sounds good, but lets wait till Mage gets back and tells us when he wants to tackle the Iron Forest before making final plans.

Yeah obviously, just want to discuss ideas while we wait for the GM to get back to us on costs of repairs and medkits. Keep the thread moving even if we already basically have a vote ready to go. I mean, I guess we can throw it up now since if repairs cost more then 20000 it'd be better to just buy a new RPG.

Won't put X's but just have the idea up. Will obviously switch out to Sunrise if we need the money for medical supplies.

You know, we probably should also buy the mineral water, since it is bottled water and we're not carrying any, aside from water purifying tablets.

No, it's a complete waste and overpriced garbage, both here and in real life. The purifying tablets are worth way more and we have a ton of them. Plus they also can purify way more water then the mineral water has, which if it's the misery version is just a can of mineral water.

Seems like the Monolith group in the Special Region could be Strider's crew, judging from how they'e less trigger happy than your typical Monolith mook.

Temporary medical
Alright, this post will be purely for temporary medical pricing and procurement, since Tremor is dead and you don't have a replacement surgeon in the camp. Owl and Beard have been contesting over who manages the runners Tremor had in his employ, and its made the supply line a bit awkward, as such prices are a bit higher than typical. Both of them have the goods at this point, but you will generally just go to the lower price at the moment. Considering how trivial it is for them to overhear the other seller, this can end up with a bit of price matching unless one thinks the other is underselling. Information acquired from the runners seems to indicate other problems as well, with some of their experienced colleagues having dropped out of contact further south.

Improvised Stimpacks (Zone Produced), capable of saving your life when an AKM has gifted you with a couple new assholes but a bit of a last resort, pain reducing agents tend to have broken down or not been sufficiently introduced, quality control is all over the place, and the slurry you are injecting yourself with is fairly obviously mixed in a blender that may have mixed food earlier that day. Capable of mending flesh fairly well though, and capable of helping replace large quantities of blood. On the micro level though it leaves something to be desired, and tends not to help much with damaged arteries or the like, meaning its not reliable for stopping hemorrhaging. Long term side effects are also largely undocumented. Extreme hunger increase to use. 10x1000 rubles

Military Stimpacks (Imported), capable of saving your life when you are suffering from grenade shrapnel, and been backhanded by a rowdy chimera. Possibly even if you were shot while airborne. While many of the ingredients ultimately are the same as the zone produced competitors, these are much more refined and also specially treated to be able to conduct micro scale tasks with disturbing efficiency. Much greater healing capability and more than capable of stopping internal bleeding. Large seeping wounds should still be bandaged and treated prior to use if at all possible, but in a pinch the stimpacks can buy time if the rate of deterioration of the patient is too severe. Extreme hunger increase to use. 3x5000 rubles

Scientific Stimpacks (Imported), About the same grade of healing as military stimpacks though the rate of action tends to be a bit higher with these, the tailoring for the compounds here however is aimed not at reduction of hemorrhaging, but in purging radioactive isotopes and neutralizing toxins. While it wont help you if you are exposed to modern nerve agents, its the kind of thing you'd want to have on you if you are expecting to accidentally inhale arsenic mixed with snake venom and fentanyl. Still largely made with the same compounds as other stimpacks, these ones come with fine print listing some of the most frequent contents for the sake of potential allergies. You aren't sure you really WANTED to know why the ecologists and pharmaceutical corporations will pay so much for flesh eyes. Light hunger increase to use. 8x6000 rubles

Bandages. White cotton, red cotton wont heal a soldier. These are basic cloth bandages in individual sterile vacuum sealed baggies. Generally you will go through one to two of these per major wound. 30x200 rubles.

First Aid Kit. Contains low quality bandages, and some sterilizing compounds to help dress a wound. Everybody pretty much has these for emergencies, despite the situations that would prompt most to use them requiring significantly more than they can offer. They do come with a nice little booklet with pictures telling how to address and diagnose different injuries, as well as instructions for the Heimlich maneuver. 6x1750 rubles

Military First Aid Kit. Contains bandages that actually work, and sterilizing compounds more capable of dealing with relevant in field contaminants, and small amounts of painkillers. Everybody pretty much wants to have these around, but they are a little heavier, and a bit expensive. Do not contain instructions for the Heimlich maneuver. 2x2500 rubles

Scientific First Aid Kit. In a bizarre twist, the most realistically focused kit in the zone. Contains both sterilizing compounds and specific neutralizing compounds for certain toxins frequently encountered near anomaly fields. The bandages however are the same mediocre brand in the basic model kits. Also contains anti radiation drugs. 1x3000 rubles
--------------------

In your stash you have more than enough to enact personal maintenance on your AK-105. Considering it mostly needs cleaning, this is just a timesink, something to do while thinking, philosophizing, or otherwise tasking anything besides your hands and eyes.

The RPG is a brutally simple system without a lot of specialty parts, you don't even have to get Cardan drunk. He gives it a look and gives you a repair quote of 2200 rubles to replace the trigger system and scrape the corrosion off.

EDIT: Upon consideration of other concerns you may have, while yes, the scientific or military stimpacks would keep the injured hunter alive, he'd be crippled as he needs more in depth care... or a kolobok, because magic radiation healing artifacts are bullshit. A scientific stimpack might help with say, regrowing a finger, but a shattered one twisted around and tied in itself would NOT heal properly.
