Oh dear.

Last turn was interesting enough! I'm not sure I can cope with all of our turns being the same!

It's a little bit smaller scale than
WAR ACROSS THE ENTIRETY OF VALE
(you're only count-level after all), but yeah, some shit went down. Not all bad shit, mind you...
I can recall with clarity everything that can be rolled on for this update. The absolute worst possible result I can think of is that the Time Before bunker, or an assassination defense, crit-failed. If it's an assassination, the problem is obvious. If it's the bunker... well... dust bombs, sealed Grimm research lab, automated defense system...

None of the other rolls could have individually or even collectively caused such massive issues that the turn was interesting unless it was literally every single roll, and since it wasn't all bad...

Interesting doesn't mean inherently bad, it's just that I had a few predictions as to how this turn was going to go, and RNGesus (that fickle bitch), decided to tell me, "lol fuck your plans".

There will be tears of joy. There will also be shock, rage, and the furious gnashing of teeth.

My money is on a critical success to top off the critical success that was finding the time before bunker, which will be enough to mitigate the OH GOD WTF HAPPENED the rest of the turn became, or the bunker itself is the OH GOD WTF HAPPENED and we did well enough with something else to mitigate it.

Well, I finally got a chance to watch episodes 10 and 11.
I guess all the grimdark isn't that far removed from RWBY in the first place.

So now, Redrum, I have to ask. Is the grimdark tag in addition to how surprisingly grimdark RWBY is, or are you just precognitive?

Well I can't wait to see what is so 'interesting', though I don't think I can take another LAtA level of 'interesting'.

Well,
considering the latest episode and what's happening in A World of Bloody Evolution,
I might be a psyker, but the idea behind the grimdark tag was that it is in addition to RWBY's grimdark,
last couple episodes included.
The
attack on Beacon
is much larger than what regularly what occurs in the Age of Grimm, but that's the thing... grimm attacks are a regular occurrence, and the vast majority of people are little more than slaves to their Carrion Lords: they are impoverished sharecroppers, battle-fodder and grimm-buffers.

Feh, obviously you have been following your false diety, and not the true Dice Gods. Then you can scream and curse the proper oaths whenever they are truly fickle.

In other news

It's time for another thing. It is, at least, partially appropriate given our plans for the year.

Grimm Tales - A Collection of Stories
To Original Post

6 - Ancient Secrets

The Warning, adapted into rhyme from many sources found in databanks across the world, dating near the end of the Time Before. The sender's name is unknown, but like The Affirmation, originates in the Old Vale Kingdom.

Eyes of two colors, the brothers and sisters,
Of tyrants and thieves, so be careful listeners.
A liar and cheater, no Huntsman should be,
A Semblance of visions, your end will you see.
Assassins be hated, to kill men for Lien,
Do not let them in, lest last thought be your dreams.
Before all you should fear the hungry-eyed Maiden,
To not heed this warning, on all death be laden.

The Affirmation, dated the final message to be sent across the Old Kingdoms, originating from the ruins of Vale's ancient academy. In place of the identification tag, there is only the image of a torch.

So it be not forgotten, this affirmation I send,
The law of the Huntsman, beginning to end.
We solemnly swear, by Semblance and Dust,
To protect the weak, to do what we must.
In times recently past, we believed ourselves gods,
with powers so great, with scepters and rods.
We, the Huntsmen, do solemnly swear,
Never again, these burdens to bear.
To better serve all, we cast down our crowns,
We beg supplication to those of renown.
To never repeat the way we have erred,
We, Huntsmen now, do solemnly swear.

The Tyrant's Oath, dated to the first time a Carrion Lord learned the ways of the Huntsman, and modified the oath to justify it. The first Tyrant Huntsman is believed to have been Vacuan in origin.

So it be not forgotten, this affirmation I make,
The law of the Huntsman, which I will not break.
I solemnly swear, by Semblance and Dust,
To rule my kingdom, a now mighty king, just.
In ages Before, the Huntsman ignored,
The needs of the many, the rich and the poor.
I, Carrion Lord, give my honest oath,
That till death will I serve my people, my folk.
Against Grimm and the dark, I now raise my sword,
A standard above, as Huntsman, as Carrion Lord.

Ahahahaha! I have now made Gerhard a complete asshat for getting huntsman training! Out of curiosity, @RedrumSprinkles, did you like this enough that Tyrant Huntsman is a real title for Carrion Lords that take the training?

It's more than appropriate for a few of them who have taken up the training, but there's a more common term used for such Carrion Lords: Idealistic Fools. Huntsmen are undoubtedly powerful, but being trained by one makes other Carrion Lords look at you like the way we looked at Lancel Lannister after the Seven were through with him. It doesn't matter what actually happens during the training, regardless if it leaves your personality and worldview completely unchanged: they'll laugh at you.

That's kinda mean.

That seems... Odd.

Like, you implied that it was more "Lawl why are you wasting time" rather than a full out massive taboo.

Or is it more "Lawl you're learning peasant superpowers, who needs them when you can send people to do things for you?" And most Carrion Lords are just massive dicks who are completely ruled by their ego?

While I do like it, this feels like the kind of thing you should run by Redrum, and the other questers, before you post it. Otherwise it just feels like its in bad taste.

Edit: Also, the Affirmation makes no sense, as Huntsmen weren't rulers of the Four Kingdoms. They served much the same purpose as they do now, mighty servants who obey the ruling government, mostly.
