I mean, the one pulling out the strings in this is still an extremely powerful omnicidal maniac that needs to kill thousands of people in Ishval simply because of its location on his transmutation circle...
I am sure that we can butterfly away some things, but I doubt that as much PR loss that we can give the government in Central or as many pawns that we destroy, it is going to truly change things.

But at least we can stop some of the damage... and win victories on a personal level that can possibly echo throughout the region.
 
For example

Discovering early that the assasination of the child was a false flag ops

Can set scar against the true ones to blame for the war (saving strength by having more alchemists alive)

I hope we can learn ishvalan alchemy as well

To be sure we can figth even if father stuns amestrialan alchemy

That would require Envy to be discovered by us... and if we get Envy on our ass, we won't be covering the conflict for a little while while we battle him.

Well, Scar is going to be with us for a little while. that is a possibility.

But most of the Alchemists he killed were loyal to central, not Roy and Armstrong, so that means we'd have more enemies to fight.

Ishvallan Alchemy is going to be hard to learn from anyone who isn't already a master of it...

And we;re not exactly going to find Scar's brother at the moment where we're holed up.

I am pretty sure that there are lots of "civilian" alchemists that are specialists...

I mean, if you want to become an alchemical doctor you have to specialize in organic alchemy, or if you are an alchemist that lives in an area with lots of cattle-farming you will work a lot with wool and leather...

We can´t make them win the war, the most that we can do is to show that Central is the only response to the public opinion and make it rally against the government, and in some cases that could be enough to make Central put an end the hostilities... But in most cases, we don´t have an Omnicidal Maniac pulling the strings because he needs to destroy Ishval because its location in the map and his Transmutation circle.

Technichally, we can save six million people.

All Father needs for his transmutation circle is ten thousand dead Ishvallans. Any more can just be used for his super-soldier project, Philosopher stones and other things for the Homunculi can gather, like research notes, potential enemy agents being destroyed, and trying to Find Hoenhiem (whom no one among Central or FAthers group know where he is).

That s much better than I thought...

It is a good thing that we are a candidate to human sacrifice though... If we win is probably the thing that will help us the most not to be assassinated.
