    You glance over at Dahlia as she asks her question, but she just seems intent on watching the setting sun.

    Light, huh?

    "Light is..." You hesitate, unsure how exactly to answer the question. Dahlia doesn't offer any guidance. You think back to your first moment of awareness. That moment you went from being one flower among many, to a particular flower, illuminated by that ray of light. That was light. But how to express that feeling into words?

    "Light..." began things? What's the word for that? You nod to yourself.

    "Light makes things exist."

    At your words, the world seems to still. The wind stops dead and the lake stands calm. Leaves do not rustle, grass does not bend. You had turned to Dahlia when you said those words, and in that stillness she meets your eyes with her own. Before, they were empty pools, but now a mad light flickers in that emptiness. An instant later, she chuckles and the tension breaks. You want to gasp for breath even though your lungs are already full of air.

    "Yes, you'll do just fine."

    "What do you-"

    A miracle is spoken unto the world by a thing that has forsaken it.


    You are in the process of becoming the Noble of Light. At the moment, the properties of your estate are:
    (2) Light makes things exist.
    (2) Light is not real.

    You may have up to three more. These properties should be things Light must do (or always does), things Light can't do (or never does), or something Light is driven to do (or seems to work towards).

    Just generally has to do with revealing things, I expect. To ourself, others, etc...

    Well, I have to vote for this, given Lexica's reaction...

    As we are a flower, I want to have something like

    [] Light...Nourishes the flowers

    But this is Nobilis, and I don't want to bring flowers into character creation.

    I like the last part of Box Lunch, but not enough to forgo the amusement vote.

    I like the ominousness of casting a shadow, along with 'wanting' to be real, which...well, that sounds interesting, to be sure, even in slightly-redundant combination with 'Light is not real'. (If I had total control I would replace 'is not real' with 'wants to be real', since one implies the other.) Not totally sure where 'brightest thing in the World' goes in the QM's plans though.

    Let's see...I'm not all that familiar with Nobilis so I could be wrong? But those that forsake the world, those are the Excrucians, right? What's an Excrucian doing making a Noble?

    @Mellithae has the right of it. Dahlia Thorn is what's known as an Excrucian Mimic- basically a dead Imperator that's been turned into an Excrucian. As for what an Excrucian is doing creating Nobles... Why, trying to expose the hateful lie of existence for what it is of course!

    I find that interesting with "Light makes things exists" being one of our properties.
