Fiend: Thread Two, the Rethreading [Exalted/Worm]

Huh. I haven't read any of em for awhile, for fear of that exact thing happening. That's irritating.
Well... Raksha!Taylor has already completed her costume... now comes the adventuring. Also misunderstandings~

Is it just me or all the Exalted stories kinda in phase? I think all of them just had the part with Taylor getting a costume...
Well, both Solar and Abyssal Taylors already got theirs.

Maybe because of her powers. If she doesn't like to use them near people out of fear of killing them then she seems a lot less capable, especially if that fear comes from experience (she knows that it can be used on people, and there is only one way of testing it) and she nerfs herself so badly she looks comical to the point people forgets how mighty is her power, like an inverse Skitter.
Well, hopefully Taylor is able to give Damsel better control somehow (well designed training regiment if nothing else).

If it wasn't for the fact he's probably had to put up with a lot worse, dealing with super-villains, I'd be expecting him to deliberately include weak points in her armor or something after she wrecked his door and stole his sunglasses.

If it makes you feel better, the costume bit for She Who Skitters in the Shadows was the update before the update before this one, I think.
SWSitS Taylor is using basically a slightly up-armored and better fitting version of the generic suit they keep around as spares. (IIRC it also has a couple of different color patches) Nothing fancy about that. (Glenn must be having fits.)

Weaver. I take it he didn't exist in the canon setting? I also wonder how much he added to the price for ruining his door. Taylor just stole a tinker's sunglasses, which is a questionable decision at best, even on the off-chance they are regular glasses. Pissing off the tinker who is making the costume you are going to be wearing is just an invitation for him to pull all kinds of nasty (but harmless) shenanigans with it.
He could have been either killed by that time, or not publicly known (he's not a cape, after all, just a businessman, and a small-time (well, very discreet at least) at that).
Rask said:
Also, Daphne is useful! Daphne got an apartment! There is no way this could end in an "Oh Daphne, no." moment!
Yeah, I got the same reaction. Daphne is just adorable. She wants to be useful and deserving of her good fortune and not disappoint Defiler.

Now, we all know what DoD's power is, but what I want to know is what her power tastes/smells like to Taylor.

EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that I absentmindedly included mondohuge spoilers for canon without spoiler text. This has been corrected, though if you have not read Worm and intend to do that at any point in the future, I cannot recommend highlighting my post.

Glenn obviously just couldn't bear to see all those unfashionable villains, and so grabbed up a fake identity with all of this "Tinker" tech serving as a cover for the fact that he really is just that damn good. (Or this is another level to the "Image, and thus ability to fight Endbringers, is essential", so he makes these people look like awesome costumed supervillains instead of ski masked bank robbers.)

More serious speculation, there's a decent chance that Weaver just kept himself secret, revealing himself only to villains, and so nobody that Taylor had been first talking to had known that Weaver was taken, and are you going to argue with the girl who killed Alexandria?

edit: Or this is peggy sue Glenn, who took the name Weaver as a private little joke.

Gosh dang it.

I apologize, everyone.

It slipped my mind that a lot of people probably read through the source material yet, since it did only get popular her recently, and it's a long story, and that's an event pretty late in the story...

Anyway, edited, my bad.

I have complete faith in Damsel's ability to find a nice apartment. The fact that she had to threaten to kill people if they gave her a bad apartment and the heroes will be showing up soon does not change the quality of the apartment she found.

Not until she summons sesselja at least. They are both the cause of drinking problem and its solution.
That's because summoning demons is the solution to everything. Just like Dodge charms.

(I call Slave Spawn Summons 'Solve Problem'.)

The dialog in this piece definitely felt really forced and stilted; too much "I will" instead of "I shall" or "I'll." It really disrupts the flow of words. Otherwise I enjoyed it
Takin' a look.

Well, until you get path of a thousand whispers, preferably comboed with ES's Scion Genesis Pantheon. That is really "solve problem". Because you know what Scion Genesis Pantheon does? Produces Third - and then Second - Circle Demon/Deva's of the Devil-Tiger that actually GET people from having grown up as one. And hell, it solves the nepotism problems of the First Age - because a 3CD in its specialty is better than everyone bar specialized elder Solaroids (or for some specialties, Lunars or Sids) - and there are exceptions to that. Anything infrastructure dependent - a specialist 3CD outclasses everything bar elder Alchemicals. (their entire thing is being an E9 or E10 piece of living infrastructure - when the downside is immobility and geomancy dependance you do get to be better than solars.) Grue MUST get this or a Kimbery-heresy analogue in It Is Dark - just to see Taylor play parent to beings that will grow up to solo all the endbringers at once levels of power.

Thats a few centuries away, essence 6 requires approx 100 creation years to reach, and both those charms are essence 8.

Use the ebon dragon charm that turns mortals into demons along with the endless desert charms to bully them into line and bam! instant workforce.
Oh look, what do we have here - a time accelerator. Just grab By Hunger Nourished and get hit by Khonsu. Problem solved.

This is an exalted cross? I always thought it was Labyrinth.
It is. "Cup/Staff/Sword Grace" are terms associated with the Rakshasa/Fae Folk from Exalted. Other hints are there as well, such as Taylor getting "hungry" when she uses her powers, but feeling less so after she's caused someone emotional distress (such as with Julia); she feeds on strong emotions and can turn them into energy for herself.

Kimbery isn't bad. Kinda limiting, especially when dropping one level in Essence means you die, but still... The others are worse, but you can survive them.
The main problem with this Charm in context of this discussion is that it brings you to 6 Essence. After that you still need to spend a century or two wandering around before you can increase Essence again.
It is useful, but not a game-changer.
She needs the excellency of that Yozi to get the mantle, iirc. Which means that currently she could only get the TED one.

It's...not a good one.
