My plan would be to draw forces away from the border with the Viking raids we have started. Then, while the majority of the army attacks the weakened border via Indiana, our strike force will attack Chicago directly by lake. While there are more detailed plans, I thought it would be better to ask about the current model first.
I will also note that we outnumber the heathen nearly 2-1.
(OOC: IIRC Indiana is a close, allied, Rust Cultist state. We should have no problem getting permission to march through.)
It could be done but we must be wary of papal retribution.

So we shall. It should be easy enough to fortify the Illinois River against any fleets attempting to come up against us.
Additionally, it would be my hope that we could offer our allies in Indiana the Duchies south and away from the lakefront, in exchange for the Dutchies of Michigan City and Valparaiso, thus connecting us by land as well.
They will not accept.
