As the title says... What is everyone's favorite fanfiction? There are probably a few of these out there, but i figure i might as well ask to see what interests everyone (also am kind of bored and want to see if there are any interesting recommendations out there.
Please try to limit it to no more than five at most. You know what? Add as many as you want. To start it off mine would be

Worm: Drummer Girl by ScottotheUnwise
Pokemon Journey by Blacksheep
Distance Learning for fun and profit... by mp3.1415player
Scientia Weaponizes The Future by TaliesinSkye

and .... hmmm
I want a refund! (Tinker of Fiction Semi-SI) by Unders

2- Madoka Magica
There's one fanfic that's moved me more than once on re-read, and it's Fargo, a Madoka Magica fic.

Most of the fic happens in its author's imagined version of the USA, featuring a few original characters. I usually don't like OCs in fanfics, but these ones are done so very well, the story made me care about each and every one of them.

As for a summary, I could say it's a story about dealing with grudges, seeking redemption and identity, while dealing with the cruel reality of meguca life while getting caught up in Kyubey's plots. The rat is, as expected, the driving force behind the whole plot.

I guess it deserves a warning, for people who don't know Madoka very well: It does get dark at times. To start with, the main character, Sloan, is down in the dumps and has a lot of her own past to deal with in order to progress both the plot and her character, which is how we get to know her.

That all said... now I want to re-read this thing.

Both Fargo and the sequel Chicago are some of the best fanfiction I've ever read, even if I do have my gripes with them. Would recommend them to fans of PMMM.

Fargo is maybe 75% OCs and Chicago even more than that, but they're all so well written that I find myself preferring the parts of the story with solely OCs to those that include more canon characters.

In no particular order.
From the Ashes. Fallout+Mass Effect fusion. An interesting read with some twists.
Weaver Option. 960k words of epicness in which Taylor Hebert tears unreality a new one.
Darth-Vader-Hero-of-Naboo Darth Vader time travel fic, prepare to be amazed by the sith being sith in new and exciting ways.
The Chronicles of Tanya the Holy Tanya into Lordaeon. The most loyal undead exterminator Arthas could have ever wished for, is also a Misotheist.
Silver Jaune's sword never felt right, it never belonged to him and thus he could nto use it as he should. This is the story of how he makes his own weapon.

I have like 20 more to share, but these are what I've selected, one from each the fandoms I find the most relevant to my interests.

Current ones or overall favorites?

My current favorite Fanfictions in the year 2021 are these: (These are from Fanfiction.net)

The Beast of Beacon - Features Adamn Taurus as the main character on the road to redemption. Lots of misunderstandings and Faunus racism though.

Ex Synthetica - Taylor Hebert as a Tinker specialized in Nanomachines. Lots of badass moments and awesomeness.

Theogony - Kratos and Freya as the parents of Taylor Hebert. Awesome and amazing. Mythology and Gods mashed up with Worm.

Knights of the Otherworld - A Kamen Rider X Ever After High crossover. Extremely well written with great character interactions and development.

Angel on my Shoulder - Izuku Midoriya having a Quirk. An absolute masterpiece in terms of plot and character development.

Unbroken: I'm Home - My favorite Bioshock Infinite Fanfiction. Part of a larger series by Author: MasamuneZERO

Edit: Alright OP said no more than 5, but I can't bring myself to take away one of these. :V

5- Naruto/Justice League crossover
One is Connecting the Dots, a Naruto/Justice League crossover. Like any good comics it has inconsistent power levels and heroes battling heroes over a misunderstanding, but it also explores the culture clash of ninjas' way of life (killing people) and how heroes are the exact opposite, how ninjas who work for the village have doubts on how the heroes answer to no one but themselves and all that jazz. Some people even found commonality (Cadmus and Root) over necessary evil. It's also complete.

Just about anything by Coeur Al'Aran, but especially Service With a Smile, Forged Destiny, and A Hunter or Something.

From SV, we have another RWBY fic called Hold it In, which is a Transistor crossover and always cheers me up whenever it updates, and Anderson Quest, where my only regret is not finding it before it finished.

Hold It In (RWBY/Transistor) Crossover

Your name is Jaune Arc, and when you built your sword, it asked you to do one thing. {Don't let go.} A RWBY/Transistor (read: RWBY/really just the entirety of Supergiant's catalogue in some way, shape, or form at this point) quest. I don't, really know what else to put here, I just read the...

Anderson Quest: Killing Vampires and Werewolves and Leprechauns (Hellsing/Bloodborne)

Dying isn't such a strange thing. You knew that death came for everyone, even you. Of course...

I have faaar too many. Way to many. I wouldn't say all of them are good (or complete), but these are some of my absolute favouites.

Complete Fic:
A Silence in Winter by AzarDarkstar
There are airbenders still out there, but Piandao never tells a soul. (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

The Dragon-King's Temple by Kryal
Through the spite of the spirits or plain rotten chance, a door that would have been better left untouched has opened. On the other hand, with Fire and Earth as one's allies, sometimes escaping is the easy part. Even the Dragon-King's temple floods. (Stargate SG-1 & Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Transit The Sun by AzarDarkstar
No, she can't land in a world filled with happiness and light and puppies that chase rainbows. It's so freaking typical. (Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Avatar: The Last Airbender) (Technically this could be complete, but it is marked as incomplete. The last chapter feels very final.)

Incomplete/Deadfic:
Ectomancer, by RustyRed
Falling through puddles and magic gone haywire are just a few of Harry's newest problems. With the Ministry falling apart and Voldemort unearthing ancient secrets, will Harry uncover the truth in time? Post-OotP. (Harry Potter)

Lost Reflections by esama
Obi-Wan didn't become Qui-Gon Jinn's apprentice, and Ben didn't exile himself to Tatooine. On Bandomeer the two meet. (Star Wars)

8-Warhammer and Worm
I have some to offer.

Impurity by Aleph and EarthScorpion
Hands down the best Wormfic on the site by two of SV's best. I also recommend checking out anything else they have written as they consistently maintain high quality writing throughout their works.

And since you put up a quest here is one I always recommend.

Dynasty of Dynamic Alcoholisim by torroar
Hands down my favorite quest on the whole site. Note that you may need to keep the Warhammer Fantasy wiki on a tab, as lots of terms and characters from the setting are thrown around freely, and will be confusing to those unfamiliar. And even then everything from there is not rigidly followed. If that is not discouraging then you are in for 2 million words of the best Warhammer Fantasy content around.

Round 2, GO!

Screw the force I have money. Who Said Neimoidians can't be badass?
A-grievous-entanglement Grievous SI, one of 3 I'm aware of, this is the best by far.
A farmer's tale. ASOIAF SI, surprsingly not born as a noble, or a royal.
The wonderful life of Mister Schnee. It's not only the female side of the Schnee family with unnatural abilities.
Totally Winging it Worm SI, in my opinion one of the best comedy + feels on this website. Leave your sanity at the door, you won't need it here.

Sailor Moon 4200, Game Theory, Overlady, Sleeping with the Girls.

SM4200 is a masterful Sailor Moon continuation fic, whose basic premise is that Crystal Tokyo didn't last. The circumstances of its fall are initially a mystery to the reader, but it gets revealed eventually. The characters are excellent, the worldbuilding is interesting, the fight scenes are cool, and there are some cool plot twists. There's good comedy and good drama.

Game Theory is a Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha fanfic that spends a lot of time and effort on worldbuilding and characterisation, creating a very compelling story that is also recognizably Nanoha despite the differences the authors introduce. Well worth reading, even if you are unfamiliar with the setting.

Overlady is a Familiar of Zero/Overlord (the game, not the insipid anime) fusion, where Louise ends up as the titular Overlady. Great comedy, cool fight scenes, interesting characters, good drama... it's got what you need if you're short on things to read.

Sleeping with the Girls is a standout in the field of self-insert fiction. It has a protagonist who believably struggles to survive, who has to rely on his quick thinking and fast talking to keep ahead of the many things that want him dead. It's everything a self-insert should be, and everything they hardly ever are.

Oh man, fic recs, I've got some.

What You Knead,(Naruto), in which Kakashi Hatake accidentally discovers a much healthier way to deal with his tragic backstory.

Viewing The Wheel From The Spokes, (Naruto) in which Kakashi Hatake meets a pair of time travelers and this causes him an undue amount of tension. Of a few kinds.

A Drop Of Poison, (Naruto) in which Iruka is unable to promote naruto after the mizuki incident, so naruto goes through One More Year of the academy. This time, though, he has a backup plan.

Kintsugi, (ATLA) in which a young, banished Zuko finally runs out of luck while trying to steal fruit from a certain estate in Gaoling, and winds up with a job as bodyguard to the heiress.

Supreme Chancellor Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which a war weary Senate decides to put the famous Negotiator at the head of the Republic, in hopes of truly ending the war. Needless to say, Darth Sidious is not well pleased.

There are two types of fic.
First are the gamer fics, from which the ones that just hit the spot:
Yoru - Gamer Between Dimensions By: jordanvn
Yami: The Gamer Kage By: I'mjusttryingtofindmyway
Both of which are gamer in Naruto.
Second are the ones that in my mind are just writen in good way:
Welcome to the (insane) world of Pokémon By: CaptainMoonshine
Insert in the world of pokemon, which decide to shake how moves are used.
The Spider By: I'mjusttryingtofindmyway
Rather unique take on spiderman.
Black Lotus By: Sybaen
RWBY oc spider faunus. One of the better ones in my mind.
