[X] You've got enough time left to ask Kiara about something else before you leave
-[X] Why were you in Fuyuki?

You know, I wonder how much longer this can go on before we basically become Kiara's apprentice. Which is not a situation I expected to find myself in, so that's... interesting.
Did we just pull a Kiara on her? Is that legal?
We've been given the tools to Kiara anybody. That's definetly illegal. :V

Makes sense for these two. Still, magic swag beats out basic lessons, so Kiara gets to be the cool teacher anyway. The physical training might have been good for Mimi's health though.
-Izabetha- Waste with gun
Looking back at her introduction as Einzbern-Emiya, yeah that checks out.

038- Fading hate.
-Why was it so easy to forgive someone who'd hurt you?

"Really- Thank you for this help." You mutter, not quite able to look Kiara in the eyes even through your veil. You should go see El-Melloi for whatever meeting he's got planned. You've been here a while now. You and Ruler say your goodbyes, and move to leave.

Except… there's something that stops you at the threshold. One last thing that's bothering you still. Kiara tilts her head to the side slightly as you turn back to face her, awkwardly tapping your hands together. "Well- K-kiara- you're good with people aren't you?"

"I try to be. Is something the matter?" Kiara steps closer, a hand resting on her cheek.

"It's- well. There's something- I- I just don't know how I did it-" Your grind your teeth, forcing each word through a throat that just wants to swallow this topic and be done with it, nails digging into your clasped hands from your white-knuckle grip. "IIII'd seen someone. She was a mage she'd hurt me and she was hurt and I helped her and I don't really understand why. Okay so she looked as pathetic as I used to and I couldn't just leave her like that- it's just- how could I do that why was it so easy surely I hate her so why was it so easy?"

"Oooooh. My my~" Kiara aras, a sun-bright smile breaking on her face as she interrupts your babbling. "I understand just how confused you must feel. I understand exactly how you feel. It might make it simpler if you think about it this way; did you really hate her?"

You stop, blinking slightly in confusion as your line of thought crumbles to dust. You- You've got to hate her, how couldn't you? You were locked up and she was one of the people holding the key. "Of course I-"

"No, no, not like that, Ms Yagami." Kiara shushes, cutting you off as an edge cuts into her voice, her fingers digging into the red-stained bandage on her hand as she leans closer. "True hate is when every fibre of your being loathes someone. When you can't even see them as a person, when you feel nothing but an endless fire that smothers anything rational that you need to keep feeding with more and more of who you are until all there is is that hate. So tell me, did you hate her?"

With a gasp of air and a hacking cough as your heartbeat pounds in your ears, you realise that you'd forgotten to breathe when Kiara was talking then, lost in her hellish description. The edge vanishes from Kiara's voice as she pulls back. You blink for a moment, mouth half open as you try and think of what to say. If that's- you think back to how Felicia begged. She was just like you there. So…can you really say that? If that is hating?

"...No." You just can't. Not with what you felt then "-If that's it. No."

"And you have no idea how happy hearing that makes me." Kiara whispers, tears at the corner of her eyes as she embraces you. "Thank you."

Kiara trembles as she holds you to her. You're not sure why. But slowly, carefully, you wrap your arms around her and return the embrace, shoving that recollection from your mind. You don't hate mages. You don't know what that really means. It's not like you like the bastards. But what Kiara described there, that self-consuming pyre of raw hate… That is not what you feel. You're certain of this.

And you're glad. You're not sure why. But the thought of destroying yourself to destroy something else, of losing everything you have for a spiteful victory… it almost scares you more than Berserker did.

Giving you one final squeeze, Kiara pulls away from you, wiping her eyes before pulling your veil aside. "You're not a bad person Mimi, and you never hated them to begin with. That's why it was so easy for you to help them."

The veil falls back over your face as Kiara releases it, leaving you stunned for a moment. Surely it's got to be more complicated than that? You've barely been a person for a couple of days- it can't be that simple. And yet, you can't give any real response to Kiara, instead simply turning on your heel and going to leave, a final whisper passing your lips as you go. "Thank you."

The cool, fresh outside air is a welcome relief as it hits you, the chapel doors swinging closed behind you as you walk down the path, still wincing a little as you accidentally put a little too much weight on your leg. There's the faint crunch of gravel behind you as Ruler falls in behind you. "She's not wrong, my Master- There's no way I could get along with the sort of person who could hate that much. We'd be oil and water."

Again, what does that mean for you? How does that change anything- you still don't like mages even if you hate them and you don't know what that sort of moral stuff changes? You shake your head slightly, turning back to Ruler in a blatant change of topic. "The meeting- where is it?"

"Oh, Gray did say the place was near the park you were at yesterday, sooo that's all fine no need to worry about getting lost on the way." Ruler moves in, offering you a bit of support on your injured side which you gladly take.

It's another half-tense-half-relaxed bus ride back to the park, the seat a welcome rest after the short dash you'd needed to make to catch the bus. You don't say much at the start of it, but towards the end you've managed to recenter yourself enough to make some small talk with Ruler, the on-off crowd scanning at each stop having served to distract you from what Kiara'd said. You don't need to think about that right now. Eventually, you get off, and wander around the outside of the park for a bit before Ruler darts off ahead, dragging you in her wake to where a familiar cloaked figure waits outside a coffee shop.

"Ah- Ms Yagami, Ruler, there you are. Sir's just inside." Gray greets you with a slight nod, trailing off for a few moments "... it's good to see you're both fine."

"Ah- Hello… Gray." You mumble in response, once again grateful for the veil. "It's- I'm glad you're not hurt either."

There's a bit of an awkward silence then as neither of you really say anything. Gray's the first one to break it. "We shouldn't stand around too long. Sir's waiting for us."

You nod, following Gray into the coffee shop as she leads the way in. It's a fairly nice place inside, rather well decorated with a very nice smell in the air. El-Melloi's off in a more secluded area ahead, sitting at a fairly large table recessed in a nook. Sitting opposite to him is a woman you don't recognise, with long, raven-coloured hair and wearing a matching, rather good quality kimono. There's a faint fuzz in the air as you take a seat at the table, halfway between El-Melloi and this newcomer, Gray sitting next to him while Ruler just leans against the wall next to you. You tense as she turns to you, piercing blue eyes half hidden behind hair and glasses giving you an assessing look, deep bags under her eyes.

"Ah. You would be the girl Lord El-Melloi mentioned." She states, her voice cool and collected… although she does sound a bit tired, she still gives off the air of someone who is definitely used to being in control of the conversation. You nod ever-so-slightly in response, your hands clenched tightly beneath the table. The way she's staring at you- you don't like it at all- it's dangerous. "My name is Hishiri Adashino. And you are?"

How do you introduce yourself
[] By Name
[] Master of Ruler
[] Say nothing, let El-Melloi say something.

How much do you actually say in the meeting
[] As little as possible- this woman doesn't feel safe you don't want to give her anything
[] Take a slightly more active role, try and make a better impression of yourself.

Thing is, Adashino's thing is gambits within gambits, and her goal in general would be stability. The ore she knows, the better she can play this game of chess where every single piece moves differently. If Waver's bought her to chat, she's nominally on our side.

Plus, Waste needs to learn how to Kiara other people! She can't figure that out if she's too busy shrinking away from new meetings!

Let Waver play politics - that's what Reines hired (blackmailed) him for, and he probably has a better idea for interacting with Adashino than Mimi is.

Reaching halfway would be a good way to gain some Adashino points at least. Help Mimi's confidence as well.

039- Adashino
-Let El-Melloi introduce you
-Stay on the outskirts of the conversation, keep your input minimal.

Your fingers dig into your thighs as you stare at Adashino, your gaze occasionally nervously glancing back to El-Melloi and Gray. Who is this woman- why are you meeting her? Can you trust her? Is she another mage? The seconds stretch on as you stay frozen like this, the fuzz of the magic in the air around you static-like on your skin, until eventually El-Melloi clears his throat. "This is Ms Yagami, and her Servant, Ruler."

"Hey-" You cut yourself off as a yell slips past your lips, glancing around to see if you've drawn any attention with that outburst. Nobody seems to have paid you any attention, but you still lower your voice before continuing your snapping back. "Did you have to give that to some random mage?-"

It's at this point that you clamp your mouth shut, pressing your tongue between your molars and biting down because you can't just speak like that to a Lord you don't know what he'd do if you pissed him off- just because he's been okay so far doesn't mean he will be. Breathing shakily, you push your chair back against the wall, closer to Ruler as your gaze flits between Adashino and El-Melloi, waiting for any twitch of a reaction.

"You don't need to be that cautious. I have worked with Ms Adashino in the past, and she is someone that I… have worked with. She is not an unknown here." El-Melloi says patiently, turning to Adashino. "Ms Yagami has been perfectly cooperative since her unintentional involvement in this situation, due to her… unique circumstances."

There's a slight "Oh" from Adashino at that, followed by a slight smile as she glances over to you as you instinctively shift your hands to cover up your barcode. Did she see it?

"Well, that explains the things you asked me to get. I do wonder how Reines will take the news that you've found another one." Adashino says calmly, sliding a sealed folder across the table to El-Melloi, giving a slight look between you and Gray, who's been rock-silent so far. "But 'have worked with'? Really? Are you still holding the castle between us? Even after everything we've been through together~. Can't you give me a little more trust?"

"Not when you're still involving me in your schemes." El-Melloi taps the table as he calmly pockets the folder, a faint judder in that magic fuzz surrounding you as he does so. "And since we're on the subject, shall we talk about your part in my student's recruitment to this war?"

"One moment then. I took the liberty of ordering your usual." Adashino states, getting up from the table to make her way over to the counter, before making her way back with a tray loaded with various drinks. By the time everyone else has taken their drinks Gray pushes a rather generic looking coffee towards you with a slight nod. You take a sip after a brief, questioning sniff. It's not bad at all actually. From her side of the table, Adashino takes a long, deep sip from her cup of very strong-smelling coffee, drawing a raised eyebrow from El-Melloi. Putting the cup back down, Adashino gives a long, deep sigh, the bags under her eyes seeming far more pronounced now as exhaustion slips into her voice.

"Fine then. No more games." Adashino props her chin up with one hand, the other hand alternating between taking more drinks of the strong coffee and idly toying with the spoon. "Yes, I made Felicia recruit Flat as a Master."

"How surprisingly forthcoming." El-Melloi says, putting down his tea. "Why."

"... Because you are the only person in the entire Clock Tower that has experience with a Grail War that I could trust." Adashino says after a long, tense pause. "Because this is a disaster."

There's a grinding sound as Adashino begins to work her spoon into the table, tension visible in her neck. "This entire catastrophe has started right under our noses, in a world capital, with cameras everywhere. You have no idea how much work put into concealing things has just gone. How much bribing threatening hacking and theft we have to do to even try and keep the Mysteries concealed before it destroys everything."

Wood begins to splinter around it as the spoon begins to bend in Adashino's fingers. "And the worst part is that we had no idea this was coming. There are multiple people involved with enough influence to have kept this secret. I suspect at least one is in policies. It was chance that tipped us off to something being off with Felicia, and by that point it was too late to stop this. So yes, I got you and your student involved because this was the only way to have any say in this entire thing."

There's a faint ting as the spoon snaps under Adashino's white-knuckled grip, a somewhat terrifying look in her eyes as she takes a deep breath followed by a deeper drink of coffee. You take this moment to nudge yourself another inch further away. "Make no mistake about this- if you can help us here, and if there is still a Clock Tower at the end of this, I will owe you. Policies will owe you. All I ask is that you stop anyone from being bloody stupid with a wish and for the names of whoever did this so they can pay."

"Well, I have no objections to cooperating with Policies in such a manner, although I'm not a Master here." El-Melloi's voice takes on a diplomatic air, before turning to you. "How familiar are you with Policies?"

"Enough-" you say simply. You've heard things about Policies from your time in your cell. Enough to know that the attention of policies gives mages a wonderful chill down the spine.

What do you choose with this offer.

[] Don't cooperate with Policies- if El-Melloi wants to share anything you give him to them, that's on him. But this woman unnerves you. You don't want to deal with her- and you don't plan on sticking with the Mages in the long run, so why curry favour?
-[] Let him share what you've already told him
-[] Ask him to keep quiet for now

[] Cooperate with Policies- you know they have influence. If you can get on their good side, that can't hurt.
-[] Give Adashino something concrete. You know Casters Master and where they are.
-[] Give Adashino intel: You've got a decent force between you, Flat and Isa, and you've seen a few other Masters and Servants.
-[] Give Adashino guesses: You've got a couple of vague ideas in your head that might be useful to her for figuring things out.

Regardless of if you cooperate or not, why do you make the choice you do?
[] You're thinking ahead a bit to after the war, and how this choice would relate to you and the Mages.
[] You want to get back at these grailmakers who brought you here and involved you in all this.
[] You're just thinking in the here and now, and right now Adashino scares you.

Policies, as a department, is probably the singular most influential of all the Clock Tower's departments.

All the way in for cooperation.

Yeah, learning to think ahead is probably a pretty important step, meanwhile fear is rarely a good thing to let take charge and after the last talk with Kiara I don't exactly feel like going back to revenge either.
