Fate/Collapsing World

[X] The House of Kaslana has only met Shirou recently, and its youngest daughter is wandering the world, unlikely to remain in Fuyuki for all that long. The house may be more of a tent, to be honest. But by coincidence, they met, and the girl's lonely road brought her into contact with Shirou. It wasn't a fateful meeting, nor was it one rich in meaning, but it was a fun one. She doesn't expect to see him again, but she enjoyed it while she had it.

More Kiana is always good

St Freya is mostly a school, but it has enough heavy hitters to be worth it, so there is one St Freya Secondary Squad, Ether Squad. Ether Squad's composition varies a bit by situation, but the three A-rankers are the primary anchor of Ether, plus a sensor specialist (there are two at St Freya, both are only C-rank so it's not preferred to field them, but their detection ability is valuable enough that they are considered worthwhile in a lot of Ether's missions). If anyone is unavailable, the Janvier Twins are added to reach the minimum 3-hand team - they're both B-rank, but they work extremely well together and can exceed the expectations of their rank while partnered up. Fu Hua is the normal commander of Ether Squad, but if she's unavailable, it goes to Laeticia Janvier, none of the other members are any good at leadership.

And then, by the end of the year, Ether Squad is going to be effectively doubled. Which I imagine everyone will be very happy about. (Oh, jesus, how are we going to deal with Mei, that's gonna be a whole can of worms for most people)

He has. St Freya has a total of three A-ranks among its students right now, you should meet the third before too desperately long since she's on-campus and didn't go home for the holidays. (Well, she did, but the campus is her home because dysfunctional family situations)

I'm guessssssing this is going to be a Fate-related character of some description, to round out - Honkai-character, OC (Fen Chao) and then this one for the A-rank trio.

So, Fate character with a dysfunctional home life? That narrows it down to - no one. It narrows it down to no one.

St Freya specializes in orphans (particularly of honkai incidents) that would otherwise be considered Worth Exploiting by someone unethical,

I was gonna make a joke about Schicksal being the unethical exploiter, but then I reread the sentence, and yeah, St. Freya would do that. They're good people.

To be fair, having someone staring at you for like, minutes on end does get really pretty awkward. Your instincts really want them to say something.

the fact that yes fen chao is into guys is entirely unrelated

lol

I will tell you right now, I have no idea who this could possibly be. And that's assuming Pale Wolf didnt pull a uno reverse card and decided to make some of the female fate characters into dudes.

The thing with Shirou is that he notices girls (and pretty enough boys), and also has a self-valuation of like zero. So he notices, and then he inherently assumes that his attention is troubling them and he must stop that at once. He does not come up with the thought of 'maybe they like me and would like to go out with me?' on his own initiative (he literally has a girl coming over to his house every day to help him cook and clean she is a walk-in wife and he never once considered 'uh, is she into me?'), and he doesn't accept small desires from himself either and is generally horrifically strict with himself.

Shirou expects himself to live a life without desire, without troubling anyone, and helping and saving anyone he can. He's quiet about it so it can be hard to tell, he thinks he's often the only sane man around, and it's a disorder that makes him pretty pleasant to be around, but it's not a functional, healthy, or sustainable way to live.

There was, it didn't go in for some reason. Is now, so check back if you missed it.
Mangadex blocks hotlinking, the only reason you can see it is because you've already seen it and its in your cache

[X] The House of Matou, on the other hand, has many of its own concerns, but has never really been able to ignore Shirou. For better or worse, both its son and its adopted daughter have been drawn towards him - a recipe for trouble, when two people with many issues already between them find themselves wanting the same thing.

This is unironically how Shirou interacts with basically every cook other than Sakura. FSN Fate Route is quietly hiding this escalating shounen cooking battle between Rin and Shirou as they trade off cooking duties for the house while living together.
I would totally watch a show of just FSN/FGO Cooking Fights, complete with power ups and shouting your Special Technique names as you use them.

....jeebus, this poor kid. So basically we're going to need Rin, Fu Hua, and possibly several other to tie him to a bed, sweetly ravish him thoroughly, all the while holding his hand and explaining that he is loved and valued and hot? Or will that either fail to get the message through, or be disbelieved?

They are east asian. That is extremely unlikely. More so considering their canon personalities

See you are basing that on them having fathers who destroyed their self-esteem. That's a big assumption because none of them have an father that was alive long enough to instill that within them.

So I think it could work.

Weeellll, you have to realise first of all that you aren't supposed to express your emotions that openly in the first place in most cultures like that and Shirou literally has neutronium density denseness. So the whole what is not said is just as important as what is schtick is going to just fly past his head.

Secondly, neither character mentioned are particularly very open about their emotions, Rin being very tsun and Fu Hua being somewhat subdued.

Lastly, Fu Hua probably kinda has a lot of issues with relationships herself. I'm being vague here for obvious reasons.

Yyyeeaaaaah, Nasu is a strange little man when it comes to sleep. In Shirou's defence he does end up having to get to sleep pretty late because he has to do all his magical practice after Taiga & Sakura stop bumming around his house and go to the places they actually live, but there is absolutely no excuse for fucking 5 AM wtf does he even do with all that time
Well FSN Shirou I think just trained himself to get up early. And also because of the nightmares he'll sometimes have, he doesn't necessarily get as much sleep as he should.

Even then generally we see him go to bed (under normal circumstances) around 10-11 PM, before getting up like around 5 or so in the morning. So generally 6-7 hours of sleep.
but there is absolutely no excuse for fucking 5 AM wtf does he even do with all that time
IIRC he would do stuff like 200 pushups in the morning before breakfast.

There's a reason why at his age he already has quite a figure and abs

Then again, we're only really seeing a small 2 week~ish window into Shirou's life. Typically he normally isn't dealing with a life or death battles of legendary proportions that stretch on well into the night. Especially when said life and death situations also cause him to have dreams and/or cause him to experience/confront past traumas.

Yeah, none of those three are formally A-rank but that is mostly down to 'we literally can't take the tests fast enough' and a lack of side qualifications, but when it comes to facepunching they're all comfortably nestled in A-rank, so when Ether needs to punch faces...

(Though it'll actually be early in next year. This is presently August, those three start attending St Freya in next year's March/April)

If it helps you can basically scratch off the Fuyukigang, since you've seen most of them and none of them are St Freya students. That does narrow down the dysfunctional home life Fate character list.

(Yes it is a Nasu-side character)

I was gonna make a joke about Schicksal being the unethical exploiter, but then I reread the sentence, and yeah, St. Freya would do that. They're good people.

Well... yeah. This is why St Freya was built, so they can do the exploiting ethically, satisfying both Schicksal Central and the dictates of decency.

i think that falls under noticing guys

Unironically yes. Even then it takes years. The routes where he has a chance of ending as a functional human being are pr much the ones where he starts dating one or more of the girls and they dedicate their time and energies to getting him capable of enjoying life (in particular UBW where Rin just explicitly states this as one of her objectives).

They can get their interest through to him without going quite that far (he's not dumb enough to miss explicit declarations of interest, he's just thoroughly not inclined to read anything with any other plausible explanation as 'they value me' so seducing him is this game of methodically disproving every other explanation until he can't come up with any other way of reading the evidence), but getting to 'he's actually emotionally functional' is a fair few steps past that.

Lastly, Fu Hua probably kinda has a lot of issues with relationships herself. I'm being vague here for obvious reasons.

Yeah, Fu Hua just doesn't do relationships by and large. She has interest but she will never make a move. If the other side makes the first move we enter the realm of maybe, but even then she has a gigantic bushel of issues re relationships.
