Technically, there's seven votes for Actually Satan. And then there's 5 for dioscuri and seibah.

We have apparently voted to try summoning EMIYA as a Saber.

Actually there were only 6 votes for EMIYA (my old vote got counted as well); Raikou got two votes, and one each for Muramasa and Nobunaga.

And bear in mind that of the seven votes for summoning a Saber-class servant, 5 were for Artoria specifically and 2 were for Raikou. EMIYA would be summoned as an Archer.

My guess is that Random Tale will interpret this as going for a compatibility summon. Considering that neither Rin nor her pendant will be present this time around though, that means things will go very differently.

(AActually @Random Tale is the Grail War starting a few yesrs earlier compared to FSN?)

That's... Actually decent? I mean, considering the fact that EMIYA only needs his tracing to use his bow and arrows, I don't think that it affects too much in which class he is summoned.

And in the good side of this, we basically snatched the Saber-Class from an stronger Servant.

Why did y'all bother going history hoping if you're going with Archer of all Servants. Sure he's badass and can probably beat Gil since he's his natural enemy but still if you were gonna go with Archer then you should of stayed with Baeber, also GM Emiya still has his connection to Baeber so she'd be summon regardless of who we pick as ether a lancer, rider, saber, or castor right?

Edit: I just noticed that Emiya Magic Circuit haven't Atrophied so he should be able to support her properly this time, extra bonus if this works out yes!

Finale: A Father Above the Grail
Finale: A Father Above the Grail

It was a night under the light of a full moon your family made their move.

The four of you slunk back to the home you were forced to abandon last summer, waiting until shortly before midnight to sneak or, in your case, stagger in. Hopefully, you'll be able to get in and out without anyone noticing. If that fails, well, the girls knew enough mental manipulation to put the matter to rest, assuming that the new owners of the house decided to confront them instead of calling the police.

"The circle's in the shed," you admitted, pointing towards where Shirou had kept his little workshop while you lived there.

"It's in there?" Shirou whispered in surprise. "I was there all the time, and I never noticed it."

"I was content to just leave it be," you admitted, supporting yourself on his shoulder. "I had plans to prevent its need, but the Grail activated too fast."

What if the Grail had activated later? What if you had caused earthquakes moving the ley lines? What if you were stronger? There were dozens of 'what ifs', but none of them mattered now; what mattered was the Grail War before your family, and the Servant they were going to summon.

There were dozens of ideas that had run through your mind for that night. The simple idea was to use Avalon to summon Saber, and hope she could be talked down. There were a few ideas involving trying to use the stars as a catalyst, as well as several different katanas for various Japanese Heroic Spirits, but in the end, you decided that your children needed someone they could work with.

A wire slunk into the lock, and jiggled, before being withdrawn as the door to the shed opened. "Got it," Illya whispered, letting the wire fade away. Magecraft was truly a useful tool, saving the need to go and get a kit for breaking and entering.

"All clear," Fate whispered, and all of you made your way into the shed.

The plan was not simple. Illya had to do a rush job of altering the summoning circle, to allow it to be used to summon a Japanese Heroic Spirit without necessarily shutting out all other Heroic Spirits. She also had to tie both Shirou and Fate to the ritual, so that whatever Servant was summoned would be running off of three Prana sources instead of just the usual one (although you were also a potential Prana source, with your body heavily corrupted, it might just poison the Heroic Spirit instead).

And then, for a catalyst, you had decided on Shirou providing a few drops of blood. Ideally, there would be a compatibility summon of a Hero, any Hero, from Japan. If that didn't work, at least the odds of a compatibility summon tied to Shirou, who had a bit more of an easygoing personality than Illya, would be better. As much as you loved your daughter, you had to admit that a compatible Heroic Spirit to her would likely be envious, and might result in your adoptive children being removed from the picture to monopolize Illya to themselves.

You wanted all of your children to survive, not just your biological one.

"I… need to sit down," you admitted.

Shirou nodded in acknowledgment, before helping lower you to the ground, legs falling underneath into a seiza position.

"Fate," Illya stated, "I need someone to light the circle while I edit it. Don't activate it."

"Got it," the other girl replied, and the circle before them started to give a soft glow. It was likely a tricky process, putting in enough Prana to light it up, but not enough to actually activate it, and summon the Servant prematurely.

Of your three children, Fate Testarossa was the one you were the least invested in. Although you had met the girl several times, she was merely dropped on your doorstep after you had managed to make enough of an impression on her mother, before the woman died. Fate was a free-roaming homunculus that technically didn't have (or somehow need) a 'master', but for some reason had… 'imprinted' on Shirou as her 'master' (much to Illya's barely concealed envy). Although the girl had been built, she had been designed well enough so that she would grow and age like a human, and she was starting to develop into a teenager. She had magecraft training, decent enough with the basics, was able to perform some mental manipulation, and was able to perform some regeneration, given enough time. Personality-wise, well, she was a quiet, helpful girl, generally following in Shirou's wake, helping him help others as needed.

Your adoptive daughter, though unasked for, would prove a boon to your other children; she'd help provide Prana for the Servant, and then after the War, she'd be an ally on their side, which would always be in short supply in the Moonlit World, especially since your other children had your feared family name.

Shirou sat next to you, silently observing the proceedings and giving you support. It was because of your adoptive son that you made it here. As you saved him from the fire five years ago, he saved you from destruction. Without him, you would have likely broken, and then lost your life trying to get your daughter out from the Einzberns. He had looked up to you once, and while that pedestal was broken, he still had habits from before the breaking; always helpful to everyone around him, lending a helping hand when its needed. He was happiest while helping others, however he could, be it fixing a machine or fixing a meal. Magecraft-wise, he was skilled with the basics, especially Projection, but his ability to do mental manipulation was lacking.

Shirou Emiya, who had rescued you as you rescued him, may prove to be the best bet of getting your family through the Grail War. And after the War, there was always the marriage contract with the Tomoe family, if they needed more allies.

Illyasviel, or Miyu "Illyasviel" Emiya as she was known, examined the circle before her, stick of chalk in hand. Every now and then, she'd use a little Alteration to wipe out a part of it, and then use the chalk to put down a few kanji in the place of the removed parts. Of your three children, Illya was the best at magecraft, having received tutoring in her family's specialty before you rescued her, and then from an outside source. She had an attraction to Shirou, one that had been magnified when he had defended her from the first Einzbern attack (although he wasn't entirely successful, at least he let her be taken to the hospital instead of a grave).

It hurt you to have missed her growth from a child to a teenager, but with your absence, you worked so that she would have a better shot at getting through the world without being killed.

Your body relaxed a little more than usual. Pain faded, and you felt like resting more in your current position, so well that you half-thought that it would be difficult to move again.

"When I was little, I wanted to be a hero," you suddenly admitted.

All three of your children turned from the circle to face you. The light faded as the two girls paused in their work, listening with Shirou to you.

"Did you find something else?" Fate asked.

"Yeah," you admitted, smiling towards Illya. "I met Illya's mom. I told you how dark it was for me trying to be a hero, but she provided light to me. She gave me something to hold onto in the Moonlit World."

"So you gave up being a hero, huh," Shirou mused.

"It's a limited time thing, being a hero," you admitted. "But with a family, I was able to find a new happiness. A simple pleasure without bloodshed, without an expiration date."

In the limited moonlight coming in from the small window, you saw Shirou's shape turn towards the girls, who were turning towards each other.

"We'll do it," Illya suddenly broke the silence, though there was the hint of a growl in her voice.

"Eh?!" Fate cried out.

"Shush!" Illya hissed in response, turning her head towards the lone window. It was several seconds before she spoke again, with that hint of a growl still present. "We'll be the family you want, all right? We'll destroy the Grail, and we'll be together."

"Yes," Fate admitted. "I'll stay with Shirou and Illya."

"Take care of each other," you suggested. "Research magecraft, help others, but don't let it consume you. Together, you'll have a better chance for a family than I ever did."

"Leave it to us, your hopes," Shirou stated. "We'll live through this, as a family."

All three of them looked at each other and then to you, and you could imagine smiles on their faces in the darkness. Illyasviel, your biological daughter. Fate, a homunculus bestowed on you after the creator dropped dead. Shirou, the boy you pulled from the fire. Together, they'd live.

"All right," you stated, smiling and looking out the window towards the moon with your fading eyesight. "I feel better."

Secondary Questlines: (Questlines that were known, but not truly vital)

Fixing Reputation: C-
(The Emiya name is still pretty much the boggyman for magus families. There is some credit for reaching out to people, but most of them are dead. Of those that remain, well, the only group that remains is neutral. If you had reached out to that historian earlier, he might have been more helpful in changing more minds.)

In Memory: D
(Only a couple of choices down the way, and no lasting impression on the locals)

Putting Out the Word: C
(Took the main task a couple of times, and then attempted to use a method to greatly speed up the rate at which the word got out. Pity that attempt backfired.)

Tohno: F
(Although the questline opened up, it was never perused. Tsukihime is still on track.)

Replacement: S
(What. Seriously, what. Somehow, you managed to get lucky enough with the right choices, the right times, and the right events from others that you got what was pretty much the best-case scenario in regards to Fate. Pretty much the last thing that could be done would have been finding the lost Raising Heart analog before Precia died.)

Uminari Activities: C+
(Helped with the Jewel Seeds and the Necromnicon. B was pretty much as high as you could go with the success from playing a supporting role, but was downgraded due to the allied deaths.)

Preparing for the Grail War: B+
(Pretty much did the best that could be done with limited actions and resources, especially once it was realized that the War was going to happen. Magecraft training, catalyst search, some lectures… Let us hope it was enough.)

Meta Questlines: (Questlines that players knew, but had no reasonable way to discover in-character)
Saving Sakura: F
(Zouken is good at hiding, so there never was any reason as to interact with him. But with Rin dead, and no one kind with a chance to reach out to her, Sakura killed herself.)

Screwing Canon Fate/Stay Night: A+
(Practically everything changed. Rin and Sakura dead, Illya rescued, the Grail failed to be delayed, another member of the Emiya team, Shirou thoroughly changed from his original incarnation… Missed out on the S rank by taking no direct action against the Grail.)

Screwing Canon Lyrical Nanoha: N/A or B
(Due to the localized expies, everything was different by default. Still, Nanoha learned of magic a couple of years after her canon age (and her friends and their families learned of it at the same time), never learned of the Jewel Seeds, and never met Fate. Precia is still dead, Fate is very powerful due to her body and the implanted Jewel Seeds, and the girl has been attached to a new family.)

Screwing Canon Puella Magi Madoka Magica: N/A or C
(Due to localized expies, many things were different by default. And with the Tomoe family reached before the date when the adults are dead, and the Akemi family fleeing Mitakihara as a result of the Emiyas showing up in the city, it will be guaranteed that if the local analog of Kyubey shows up, there will be differences.)

Screwing Canon Tsukihime: F
(Nothing relevant was done, changes are unlikely to take place.)

Quest Derailment by Players: C+ (Henderson Rating: 0.75)
(Based on actions taken by the players that forced me, the GM, to have to go back and rework my notes. Saving Illya early was THE big one, automatically bumping the rank up a full letter. There were a bunch of small things, too, but those tended to be comparatively worked around, or the fault of dice.)

Quest Derailment by Dice: S
(The Dice tended to roll the way of the players more often than not. However, there were two instances where die rolls changed everything, forcing me to have to rework things. The first was the rescue of Illya, which was intended to be done much later in the quest (turn 7, maybe?) after gaining experience. The second was the failed Rapport roll with Rin about the Grail, which led to her death.)

Primary Questlines: (The main questlines that were expected to be the focus of the quest)
Fatherhood: C+
(You did spend several actions with your children, but not as much as you could have. At least you made decent moves to make sure that, even if you couldn't teach them as much as they needed, you got them teachers who could.)

Rescue of Illya: A
(Unexpectedly, you managed to get Illya out immediately, when it was expected that the task would be a late-game success, if that. Missed out on the S by not being able to stop the Einzbern from hospitalizing her later on for half the quest.)

Stopping the Grail: F

assuming that the new owners of the house decided to confront them instead of calling the police.
The police are no more resistant to mental magic than any other muggle.

Far more importantly both Illya and Fate have the issue of not being 'Human' by magical technical definition. This makes using them as the catalyst a rather more uncertain prospect.

I feel you attribute too much to player decisions and too little to the RNG. Example: Back when we got Illya you stated that you had expected us to make the attempt and fail. Freeing her early was RNG, not a surprise choice. Conversely we put effort into protecting her, but RNG resulted in Kiritsugu being really, really bad at fighting.

Fixing Reputation: C-
Eh, the overwhelming majority of people in the Moonlight World are arseholes by default. A bad reputation is not significantly worse than a neutral one.

The muggles are largely irrelevant.

Putting Out the Word: C
This is by far our biggest failure. Stopping or winning the 5th Grail War is by no means a guarantee that there won't be a 6th.

Tohno: F
Screwing Canon Tsukihime: F
/shrug
The Nasuverse is a vast and GrimDark hellscape. Short of getting multiple uncorrupted Grails there was no hope of meaningfully improving it.

Uminari Activities: C+

Out of interest does Yuuno count as dead?

Preparing for the Grail War: B+
Given it was either this or 'the priest comes to fight you personally after you screw his plan' I think we chose the good path. He will have Gil in his corner. With the GW running we also get a Servant.

I would argue that a mundane death is not the worst outcome she could have had.

Hampered far more by enemy action than our decision making.

RNG for the win.

Stopping the Grail: F
(You… you… *sigh*, well, inaction here unlocked the Preparing for the Grail War actions.)
You gave SV the choices of A) family or job and B) diplomacy or direct action. Not sure why you seem surprised at the result. Despite the name this forum is a hive of shipping and WAFFs.

Anyway, good quest. I look forward to your future works.

What a ride, and how bittersweet it was indeed! While the stories of our four heroes has come to an end (for now), I eagerly await the next chapter of their adventure.

Screwing Canon Tsukihime: F
(Nothing relevant was done, changes are unlikely to take place.)
Honestly still mad about this, like I wish I knew about this quest so I could of pushed for this at least.
Sakura and Rin are dead making the Tohsaka bloodline extinct, sucks but what can you do. Honestly this doesn't bother me as much as it could since Rin gets a lot of love in the Nasu community and Sakura's timeline is straight up scray, like damn I haven't even finished that route and I'm already wondering how the fuck I get through this route with so many dead ends like for real.
Fixing Reputation: C-

They tried.
Stopping the Grail: F

I'm of the opinion they should of Killed the ancient old man with a crap load of explosives but again I wasn't here for this ether way the ending wasn't terrible and the Emiya house has at least two guaranteed servants that are known to straight up break the game. Pretty sure they gonna win this, actually question does Illya get Kiritsugus Magic Crest or no?

Question and Answer:

It's been a journey of the seasons, lasting from spring to the middle of winter, in the midst of a pandemic, but here we are at last, successfully completed. I hope you've had an enjoyable time with this, and I hope the results are… satisfactory.

You've accomplished quite a lot as Kiritsugu Emiya. Maybe not all that you wanted, but enough. Success where he failed in canon, and massive changes based on his actions and inactions, and other's reactions to his actions.

Now then, you are free to ask any questions related to both this quest and my previous one, as well as questions about the Fate in the Shadows system, which prototype was used for this quest. I might not answer all of them, but I will at least hear you out. Also, if you could indulge in my curiosity… for future quests… which parts of the quest were your favorite, and which ones were your most hated parts? In your eyes, what could I have done better, and what do you think that you, the playerbase, could have done better?

I feel you attribute too much to player decisions and too little to the RNG. Example: Back when we got Illya you stated that you had expected us to make the attempt and fail. Freeing her early was RNG, not a surprise choice. Conversely we put effort into protecting her, but RNG resulted in Kiritsugu being really, really bad at fighting.
You... do have a point. I suppose that I have been attributing more player success and failure to the playerbase rather than the dice.

Out of interest does Yuuno count as dead?

As far as Kiritsugu knows, Yuuno is dead. As to his status... well, dodging death in the way he did cost him a LOT. In addition to being stuck in a subpar body (Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution are all capped at 1, and a good number of his physical skills dropped low, some even to Incompetent), all of his Luck has been burned, permanently; it cannot be raised again, meaning he can't Invoke Aspects (though he can still benefit from Boosts, if he gets any). There is also his grudge against the Einzbern, but that's a small note considering the rest of his status.

You gave SV the choices of A) family or job and B) diplomacy or direct action. Not sure why you seem surprised at the result. Despite the name this forum is a hive of shipping and WAFFs.

Suppose I had a different view of what was going to happen. I'll just try to keep that in mind for my next quest.

Question does Illya get Kiritsugus Magic Crest or no?

The Crest was one of the things that the Grail cursed about Kiritsugu. There is no way he wants his daughter to have curses manifest grafted to her.

Huh... Was there anything that we could have done to be able to kill Kirei?

@Random Tale One thing I'm wondering about is if there was any one Servant we could have summoned that would have been best.

I'm pretty sad that we chose Archer, as I really wanted to see more variety and that's one of my favorite parts of Fate as a series, so I'm wondering what your thoughts were.

We didn't really choose archer, more of a attempt of compatibility with shirou through his blood while trying for a saber class servant. We might get siegfried i think. Though with how shirou has changed that might not be the case.

also, what happens now, in universe i mean, they summon someone and the war begins, what happens exactly during the war and will we see it in a future quest or something? Or can you just tell us now?

K so legit question I'mma ask again, does shirou still has his connection to Saber? Because, in lore that was the whole reason he was able to summon her again, why he kept dreaming about the sword and why Avalon gave him healing haxs, if so does that mean he'll become a master too?

Like we all assume he does but I'd like to have a definitive answer.

Huh... Was there anything that we could have done to be able to kill Kirei?
gather help set an ambush and blitz

I had always intended Kirei to survive to the end. After all, he survived the Grail War, Kiritsugu was cursed and weakening, and Kiritsugu knew this. Taking direct action against the Grail, either by blowing it up directly or blowing up the ley lines three times (or twice after he killed Rin), would have drawn him out to stop Kiritsugu. It was quite likely that it would have resulted in the (premature) end of the quest, but with enough Luck, Kiritsugu would be able to use the 'Dead Man's Switch' to activate the explosives and take his opponent with him.

I'm not sure which Servant would have been best for the children, mainly due to falling out of date with the more recent parts of the Nasuverse (though I did look up the twins when they were suggested). There were a few traps that I knew about (Counter Guardian Kiritsugu would have gotten the children killed, for example), but as to someone who could help the children? Of the original Servants, Artoria and EMIYA were both solid picks for reasons others have stated, though they both would have difficulties as well.

The children summon someone, haul Kiritsugu's cooling corpse out of the shed, and the war begins. Anything else... will have to wait for a future quest. I will give a hint, though...

Continue on this thread or a new one? If new, please link. My alerts are drowning~

There will be a new thread for the sequel to this quest, but not quite yet. I've got plans for it, but I need to A) continue to work out the kinks of the Fate in the Shadows system I'm working on, and B) also work on my dialogue and characterization.

As soon as I get my next quest ready, I'll post a link in both the Quest Idea thread and here, though I will warn you, it will be an Original quest. As soon as that quest is complete and the final flaws are worked out, I'll post here again to let people know of the sequel to this quest.

Like we all assume he does but I'd like to have a definitive answer.

While Shirou does still have a connection to Artoria, due to the choices that Kiritsugu made, its much weaker... meaning that unless Avalon was used as a catalyst, he'd have same decent odds of getting her as other Servants.

Also, I'll point out that Shirou is not a Master for this War.

Post-Quest Part 2: Other Views: Calls for the Grail
Other Views: Calls for the Grail

"I want to sing, dance, and entertain people after the Grail's end… beyond when I'm supposed to die."

"I want Yuuno to have his human body back."

"…I think we'll sit this one out. There is more to gain from just sitting on the sidelines this time."

"I seek the prosperity of the Yggdmillennia, and to save the family from decline."

"I… no, we want to destroy the Grail before it destroys the world."

"I want a world where me and my family don't have to keep looking over our shoulders for the Magus Killer. So why have I been chosen for a ritual where the Magus Killer lives?!"

"I wish to see the look on Emiya Kiritsugu's face as I tear everything he worked for away in front of his eyes."

"I want my sister, her friends, and our families out of the moonlit world before it destroys us."

"I just wanted Emiya's side of his story. Why have I been marked by the Grail fifty-five years early?"

"Gah… shouldn't have… trusted… I… I want to live!"

"I want to sing, dance, and entertain people after the Grail's end… beyond when I'm supposed to die."
Probably a homunculus, likely from the Einzbern.
Possibly Illya.

"I want Yuuno to have his human body back."
Nanoha!
…actually that is a rather bad thing. She is shockingly unreasonable about bending to the harsh truth of reality. She genuinely believes she can Determination and Befriend her way through all obstacles.

"…I think we'll sit this one out. There is more to gain from just sitting on the sidelines this time."
…difficult.
Could be Zouken Matou but the plural argues against. Could be the Einzbern, if the top one is Illya.

"I seek the prosperity of the Yggdmillennia, and to save the family from decline."
A number of options. None particularly threatening, or at least no more so than the average mage.

"I… no, we want to destroy the Grail before it destroys the world."
Pretty sure that is us.
Possibly Shirou specifically.

"I want a world where me and my family don't have to keep looking over our shoulders for the Magus Killer. So why have I been chosen for a ritual where the Magus Killer lives?!"
Masahiko Akemi? At least it isn't his daughter.

"I wish to see the look on Emiya Kiritsugu's face as I tear everything he worked for away in front of his eyes."
Sorry priest, but you are rather late for that.

"I want my sister, her friends, and our families out of the moonlit world before it destroys us."
…no clue.
Possibly Fate but it doesn't fit well.

"I just wanted Emiya's side of his story. Why have I been marked by the Grail fifty-five years early?"
Tophier Joiner. About who we know a name and nothing more.

"Gah… shouldn't have… trusted… I… I want to live!"
Bazett is still a going concearn it would seem.

What concerns me is that there are apparently ten wishes. If we are lucky then three are from the Emiya family and one declined their invite. If we are unlucky then shenanigans are underway.

…difficult.
Could be Zouken Matou but the plural argues against. Could be the Einzbern, if the top one is Illya.
Acht can't though. And Zouken lost Sakura, so the We can be him and Shinji...who WOULD be better off watching from the side looking for a chance to steal home.
Nanoha!
…actually that is a rather bad thing. She is shockingly unreasonable about bending to the harsh truth of reality. She genuinely believes she can Determination and Befriend her way through all obstacles.
Executing Reinforce Eins.
She can be swayed if the situation is explained and there really is no way.
Sorry priest, but you are rather late for that.
Think its more that...Kiritsugu spent everything towards his family. Tearing it apart would still fit. Maybe resurrect Kiri just to see his face...
…no clue.
Possibly Fate but it doesn't fit well.
Sister is from a different family to the one talking. Since Sakura and Rin are both dead, that leaves Tsukihime.
