Faded Dreams

Yeah but like living in shit hole implies they dont have a choice. So there must be no suburbs or normal cities where they could move to.
There is a normal city -- Sun City, where all the rich people apparently live. I'm guessing that it's the only real option for attempted escape of the Hive, though. From what I can tell people don't exactly have the means to pack up and leave. Maybe there's a deadly wilderness or something.

Or maybe there is just regular countryside in which these city folk can's live that well. We have to remember that slums have existed as long as there have been cities. The very fact that they exist in this world is not necessarily a sign that something is odd, though the comment about farms changing certainly is

Reminder here that Qey has moved to the city a few years back. There are people coming here voluntarily, though rarely because they want to live in the Hive.

That's remarkably ominous.

Though the rarely part of it also hints at something else. Cities have never had natural pop growth before modern sanitation and the germ theory of disease, that means that either the sanitation is up to that standard or the city is dying from having only a trickle of immigration.

The 'rarely' wasn't meant in regards to immigration. It meant that people rarely plan to live in the Hive. Nearly all of them come to live in the upper parts of the city and are slowly dragged down or have the rot climb up around them like Mrs. Mors store is experiencing.

@Azel, dude, this looks very promising. Getting serious Shadowrun vibes.

Looking forward to more.

[X] [Jera] Wait for a good moment and try to attack the woman. She is stronger, but Jera is faster and a knife to the lung always works.
[X] [Qey] Ambush the two men when they come upstairs. Drop something heavy on them and then get out the knives. Better then to be caught and cut down from behind.

Alright, murderhobo time. Literally.

I wonder what the chances are of that Force Lance still being functional? At least enough for one or two shots?

That's decidedly intentional and I'm even going to run this on something kitbashed together from SR3 and SR4.

But more on that later. I would rather frontload setting information then columns of numbers.

Given how it looks, inserting a full battery would likely make the thing a greater danger to the wielder then to anyone in front of the sights.

Azel: *opens up new quest with two PCs, each already with a nice bit of characterization and plenty of world building*
Thread on literally the first vote: "let's shank them"

I would close the vote, but we've got a tie.

  • [X] [Jera] Leave and try to find one of the local gangs. Stuff like this is why he pays protection money.
[X] [Qey] Try to hide upstairs and sneak out when the chance presents itself. The shop is full of bookshelves, making it easy to hide inside.

I really hope we don't die. We have too much to aspire for.

// And the Jera vote could still mean a "sorry, you won't be leaving just now, it's just business."
And from the description of the so far successful trio I'd rather expect combat to go poorly.

@Azel Not a great majority but not tied at least.

Calling it now. Mrs. Mors is a retired Shadowrunnner.

She's gonna gank the three newcomers.
