Unless his successor is one of the students in 1-B, we aren't directly affected and we don't have a direct effect on them. If they are, All-Might can let us know.

He already told us he was hurt badly five years ago, which is the extent of things that all the other teachers know. Knowledge of All for One is something he keeps very close the chest. So beyond what we've already been told we're not going to find out more.

If you want to talk to All-Might, a better topic might be what class he's teaching/what his lesson plans will entail. That affects both classes, including our students, which may or may not change what we need to teach them. Though I doubt you could go wrong with QM-generated topic.

I'm of the same opinion, but there really is no harm in asking. Asking how the greatest hero alive got literally gutted is a good question. And since he was the one to bring up that he's looking for a successor (even though it's implied that One for All still went to Izuku), there's really no harm in asking what kind of things he'd be looking for in a successor. Without knowledge of One for All, it just sounds like he's looking for somebody to take up the mantle of the Symbol of Peace or of the Number 1 hero spot.

Plus I'm a big fan of comedic misunderstandings and I love the idea that he starts muttering traits that Izuku has, we promise to keep an eye out for students that fit his criteria, and then, weeks later, maybe after the sports festival, just go up to him and recommend Izuku to be his successor.

Maybe there's no harm in asking, but I just don't see the point in it.

As much as I like both of them, this isn't an All Might quest, or a Midoriya quest. One for All is their story. Our story is a hero teaching and guiding a class of future heroes (and probably getting into villain fights along the way).

We get one conversation before we meet our students, maybe we should talk the other homeroom teacher, the guy who's done this before.

You're not seeing the bigger picture. School life isn't the only relevant thing in our PC's life.
She is a teacher, yeah, but she is also a pro-hero. She lives in that world and she has the right to be worried when you learn that the top hero is not going to stay in the field for much longer, the same top hero that kept most villains at bay. Who's going to do it as effectively as him and replace him as a Symbol of Peace?
That's the point you're not seeing. You're looking at this from an OOC perspective with metaknowledge, not an IC one.

I disagree. She got briefed on what the other teachers all know. If she were to suspect IC there was more...why would she think that they'd share that here and with somebody they just met?

Seems to me that prying is the option that's based on meta-knowledge. Especially the targeted question of how he got hurt so badly. Why would that in particular occur to Alice, unless guided by OOC knowledge?

Eh, we know canonically that not all teachers know that, only a select few which are Aizawa, the Principal, and Midnight, I believe. It's supposed to be secret after all.
The main reason, I see why All Might would go back to his weakened state and the Principal himself coming in to see us.
If she really got briefed about it earlier, why would they redo it again? And why would Alice be surprised?

When you see the number one Hero, go from his usual beefcake figure to a weak skeleton-like figure who coughs blood... Don't tell me you wouldn't be asking, would you?
The vote is not based on metaknowledge but from what we've seen so far.

I think there's some misunderstanding.

Alice wasn't brought up to speed (at the same level as most of other teachers) until just now, after seeing All Might change.

At that point, she was given an explanation of what happened to him that most of the UA staff is aware of. That he was hurt five years ago, that his power is waning, and he's looking for a successor.

He already explained what he's willing to. That's just common sense. Asking more is digging beyond that. Alice may think there's more to it, but why would she think he'd reveal more than what he just gave just because she asks nicely?

And that still doesn't negate the point that All Might looking for a successor doesn't have a direct affect on Alice's job and teaching her students. If one of them catches his eye that's nice, I guess. But it shouldn't have an impact on how she teaches any of them since she should be doing her best for all of them towards becoming heroes, whether All Might sees them as potential successors or not as far as she knows.

Basically, who WOULD just take that news and go 'okay'?

Somebody who listens to the explanation that's given for this sort of crazy conspiracy, and that if they realize details might have been omitted it's because either they're,

A. Not important.

or

B. Too important for YOU to know unless you actually need to know.

Alice can come to this conclusion just fine. And that's fine by me because I don't care to attempt to shoehorn our way into the One for All/All for One mess just yet. At least not until later.
