The Exalted Thread is actually really huge (In other news, dead people die when they are killed). Therefore, I have made this thread with the intention of creating a new space where people are capable of asking and receiving questions pertaining to everyone's favourite, utterly broken game of demigods running around and wrecking vasts swathes of Creation with no remorse.

Thus, the questions thread is open.

Who'd win, the Mice of the Sun, or Pikachu? :V

On a more serious note, what with the change in characterizations for the Ebon-Dragon between 1E and 2E?

Seriously, he's a Primordial God-Monster, he should be more interesting than that. It's like someone watched Samurai Jack and missed the point of Aku...

...shit...

Most likely answer: The freelancer writing the Ebon Dragon stuff didn't read Games of Divinity or didn't care while the main editor also didn't care.

What about Pikachu with perfect IV and full EV training while holding light ball

For a more serious question, what kind of plot I can do for Dawn-y and Zenith-y character on Nexus? Something to ease into for players that doesn't have much initiative, basically.

Okay so, this is a dumb question, I'm just gonna start with that. It's not likely to come up in a game would probably be hellishly difficult to pull off if it were possible, but it pops into my mind every now and again and I just want to get some opinions on it.

Would it be possible to use a Second Circle Demon as an Arcane Link to their parent Third Circle? Would you in turn be able to use a Third Circle as an Arcane Link to their Yozi? Would you then be able to propagate such a thing from a Second Circle all the way up the line?

okay its three questions but they are all equally dumb and a part of the same point

I mean, you probably shouldn't be able to take pot shots at The Ebon Dragon if you bind Makarios, but on the other hand one of a guy's souls would probably be a pretty good Link.

In order, my take is: yes, it seems legit to use the physical manifestation of part of a being's personality as a link to them on par with a bit of their physical substance; yes, for the same reason; no, it doesn't appear that using indirection through chained links for targeting is a thing that works nor should it be.

Allowing a Sorcerer to wiki-walk their targeting for spells arbitrarily far does not seem like a desirable thing to allow. Especially since it removes the symbolic stuff like needing to acquire an actual link to your desired target.

...Besides, the ping times across Cecelyne are horrible.

I'd be curious to know the details about why 2E Ebon Dragon is so different from the other editions. My suspicion is that it was Neph's doing—Infernals was his baby and I've seen some bits where he discussed the Dragon's nature in great depth.

Question relating to the Fourth Soul Coadjutor Rewrite - the charm (Coadjutor) Flesh Extravagance grants a unique power that the coadjutor's species possesses. What would be an appropriate power for a Blood Ape, who are just really good and angry fighters?

In the poor section of downtown Nexus, people are disappearing. No one really gives a shit, because everyone involved is poor. The most recent disappearance is a little kid, and his or her mother is heartbroken and begs them through tears to find her child.

Beneath the streets, the hungry ghost of a serial killer lurks. Give it some stealth and shadow effects, maybe stat it as a mortwight with lots of runaway powers. Make them investigate the disappearances and find clues to indicate the ghost of a serial killer before the showdown, and save the little girl from the fates of the other victims just in time.

Okay but more importantly, is the Third Circle of the Primordial or from the Primordial?

How the heck that ASCII art still recognizable on phone
How
What kind of sorcery is this
By being Unicode art instead of ASCII art. It's composed of characters from the Unicode range U+2800 through U+28FF, which is allocated to Braille patterns including the eight-dot Extended Braille patterns.

How does the ability to fly affect combat in 3e? And how would you price a charm that gives a character the ability to fly in combat?

There are a couple of different options for that. The Wings merit at 5 dots gives you true flight, at the cost of penalizing actions that require any degree of precision by 3 dice while in flight. Sorcerers can use Stormwind Rider, but they treat their enemies as having light cover, can't move higher than short range above ground, and fall out if they're crashed or hit with a decisive attack. Cirrus Skiff is a lot slower, but doesn't have an altitude cap. Certain Ride charms let you pursue targets through midair, and Eagle-Wing Style in Athletics lets you rush an airborne and continue to hold your altitude, provided you're attacking.

Notably, all these come with a cost of some sort, and have their own drawbacks: Wings penalize your dicepools, spells have their own inherent complications, flying mounts are tricky to come by, and Charms often require you to keep spending motes or Initiative to keep moving or keep from falling. Probably the main advantage of flying is that a melee attacker can't reach you without some special tricks. Ranged attackers can, but if your weapon has the range advantage you can retreat far up enough that their shots can't hit without magic and pepper them with attacks, forcing them to take cover or retreat. You also have the benefit of not having to deal with difficult or hazardous terrain, letting you outpace most pursuit in a chase (or take advantage of that fact by somehow creating terrain obstacles).

As for how I'd price it, the exact mechanism depends, but modeling it after the above...you want to ensure that flight is a tactical choice and not something that an archer would want on at all times, which generally means that Charm has a downside (instability penalties, being easy to knock out of the sky, and so on) and/or a non-negligible cost (motes, Willpower, Initiative) which means you can't keep it up forever.

It's a 3-dot merit for flawed fight, 5 dots to fly without much penalty, or a single sorcery spell for Essencex6 mile per hour flight. It's a really, really good power, and also lets you skip a lot of normal inconveniences (Hover outside a window, fly to the top of the tower, fly over the broken bridge, ect).

Alternatively, 4 dots of Artifact (Wings of the Raptor) and one evocation to remove the flaws.
