Moves
Creepy: When a comrade sees you perform a ritual, overhears your prayers, or sees signs of your alienness, they lose Trust in you. Once they learn one of your Moves, they are no longer affected, but they gain Creepy as well.
Deep Ones:When you call out to your patrons, they give +1 forward on your next roll.
Blessing: When you dab fresh blood on an item roll +Calm. On a 16+, take both. On an 11-15, choose 1. Effects last 1 Routine.
  • Take +1 Ongoing with this item this Routine. (+5 Handling for a plane)
  • The item cannot break or be lost this Routine. (Armour 3/8+ for a plane)
On a miss, make a bigger sacrifice or the machine is damaged.
Ideomotor Response: Your plane effectively has a programmable autopilot. It does not have to be switched on and off; it "knows" when you are behind the controls.
Soul-Bound: When you paint a rune in blood on an aircraft, you are linked. While in flight, you can take incoming Structure damage as Stress, 1-1. You can take a hit that would strike a Component as Injury, or give incoming Injury to your Engine.
Written in Ink: When you get a tattoo to mark an major milestone, take 3 Stress , describe the tattoo and where it's inked, and link it to a Fisher move. Whenever you use that Move, lose 1 Stress (max 1 time per Routine per Move).
Bond: (Witch move learned from Wulf) When you hold an object of significance and make an emotional connection to it, take 1 Stress. The object becomes a magical Focus, and you learn it's Nature (Earth, Air, Water, Fire, Iron, or Blood).
Whispered Answers: You get visions.
Gifts from the Abyss: Your connection to the Deep Ones is physically changing you. Name the physically obvious mutation you have received and describe how it frightens or disgusts the unfaithful. It can be hidden, but not perfectly, and just seeing it will trigger Creepy. All XP advances now cost 1 less XP (minimum 1).
Strategist: When you lay out a plan of action, anyone following the plan (including you) can opt to use your stats on the roll if they are better, and roll Seize the Initiative with their best stat. This lasts until a comrade is wounded or events go drastically off script.

Mastery
The Bushwack
Ambush Predator: When you strike an enemy who is unaware of your presence, roll with Advantage.
Forced Evade: When you fire to scare an opponent off, spend 1 ammo and roll +Hard. On a hit, instead of dealing damage, choose one: Target dives 1, target climbs 1, target loses speed in a forced turn. On a 16+, roll attack dice on them anyway.
Momentum: When you dive onto a target, add +1 AP.
Scissors Snip: When you disengage, give an ally +3 towards dealing with your target.

Familiar Vices
- Drinking
- Prayer
- Dancing
- Cannabis

Intimacy Move
When you are intimate with another, choose one of you to get a hold. They can spend that hold to give the other a command: if followed, then forward to their next +Stat move, they will always score at least a partial hit, regardless of what the dice say.

If you use this move in the air, there are two holds, and they can be distributed however you agree.

The Company
People
  • Isabelle (Fisher): The PC. Was once an acolyte training at her village's temple, but fled abuse at the hands of the cult leader. Possibly the mortal avatar of the dark gods, and remarkably calm and patient, Isabelle is the world's most mature 19 year old. Which isn't saying much. 1 thaler per Routine.
  • Arren (NPC- Confidant/Observer): Your cute fish boyfriend, Arren is a sweet boy in way over his head, but he loves you more than anything. Artist, deeply empathetic, quietly devoted, everyone finds him hot. 1 thaler per Routine.
  • Wulf (Witch): Your girlfriend and a former bandit leader with a fractally tragic backstory. Basically incapable of impulse control, she puts on a confident mask to hide how much she's hurting. Her dad was a wolf. The world's only transgender pansexual half-fae witch. 1 thaler per Routine.
    • Hard +3, Keen +3, Calm -2, Daring +0, Wild +3 (Avenger)
  • Minna Hammerl (Soldier): Highly trained soldier from a military junta, who exiled her due to her autism. The squadron's second in command, the most beautiful woman in the world, and the only person on this crew of idiots whose life doesn't revolve around getting laid. Does not use contractions. 1 thaler per Routine.
    • Hard +4, Keen +1, Calm +2, Daring -2 (Professional)
  • Heinrich Engel (Student): Political science student working on his thesis-slash-manifesto. Mentor in a queer society back home, he's the one who actually knows things about stuff. Deeply camp. "i think if heinrich tried to not say stupid things he would suffer a toxic buildup and fucking die"
    • Hard -1, Keen -1, Calm +2, Daring +2
  • Anny Meldgaard (NPC - Mechanic): A young half-Fischer, half-Himmilvolk woman from Piav, trained by the mechanics there. Looking for adventure and her origins. Blushes pink?
  • Ronja Devapala (NPC - Non-Combat Pilot): Anny's friend from Piav, descendant of Skyborn but adopted by locals, unsure who she is. Enthusiast of sarcasm and the only person on the crew with her shit mostly together.
Temporary Members
  • Marcus (Farmer): A Macchi native. He goes where Lyse goes. Flies a specialized seaplane with a precision rifle.
  • Lyse (Scion): A bastard child of a Sopwith noble family. Flies a V-engine triplane conversion.
  • Ann-Lise Holms (Revenant): The ghost of famed Great War ace Stormcloud, the best female fischer ace of the war. Flies a 200hp KW-AN.

Aircraft
  • Isa & Arren's Plane: A Teicher Möwen seaplane. Steel frame, liquid-cooled engine. Deeply possessed. 1 thaler per Routine.
  • Fang Howl: Wulf's helicopter. An experimental pre-war model. Liquid-cooled radial. Three wolf moon. 1 thaler per Routine.
  • Pup: Wulf's Kreuzer Skorpion prototype retrieved from a sealed hanger. Gets a lot out of an underpowered engine.
  • Minna's Kobra: An inline-engine powered, wood framed fighter. All around an excellent machine. 1 thaler per Routine.
  • Heinrich's Reconstruction: A canard plane with a 30mm cannon in the nose. Awkward and unstable but hits like a train. 1 thaler per Routine.
  • The Pioneer: A huge 3 engine'd cargo plane with capacity for two airplanes and an additional eight people. 3 thaler per Routine.

Also, magic never goes horribly wrong, only horribly right.

[X] Maybe you don't even need to talk to her. Maybe you and Wulf can just pluck what's in her head out with magic.

I mean it's rather unethical, but Isa saw her Goddess die, so...

I'm not so much worried about the ethics as worried about it going horribly wrong.

And Isa's experience with mind magic has been, what. Accidentally bodyswapping herself with Wulf? Fae mindfuckery? I don't think she'd go for it, at least not without a little more desperation?

[X] Sit her down, explain what you found to her, and ask for more information. Problem is, she doesn't have much reason to tell you.

Even if she doesn't tell us much, the particular lies she chooses may be informative. And the simple fact is, we've got most of the advantages if things go poorly.

[X] Try to get on Lyse's good side before getting her side of the story. Maybe things aren't as bad as they seem.

Okay, roll me +Daring to Turn on the Charm and convince Lyse you're cool!

Man I didn't know this quest continued. Just caught up and loving where this plotline is heading.

4-6: Drinks On Us
The trip back was slow and agonizing despite the relatively short distance that needed to be traveled. The team pulled off their gas protection, everyone soaked in sweat and feeling faint, and you drained the canteens you'd packed and found yourself wishing you had more. Nobody came out of this well, but Ronja seemed especially bad. Heinrich had to go up front to take over while she shed her suit, and then he stayed to co-pilot for the landing. You were still pretty rattled from your encounter with the shade, Wulf was keeping her mask on because she hated the lingering scent of the gas, and Minna was asleep in her chair, fighting off heat exhaustion. She'd wisely opted to wear nothing under her suit, having done summer training in gas protection, but unwisely didn't pack a change of clothes and didn't tell anyone until more or less fainted in her chair.

The Pioneer came down hard at the outpost, the plane rattling, everything and everyone in the cargo bay swaying and shifting as the perforated airbrakes were deployed and the brakes screamed. You stumbled out into the sun and headed, as a group, towards the shade of the bar and the cool drinks within, pausing only to make sure you had your weapons at hand. Minna drank most of a pitcher of ice water and then immediately retired to take a well-earned nap, and Wulf headed to the showers: sweat didn't play well with patches of fur.

To be honestly, you wanted to join her. You were not bred for this heat. You belonged on a freezing coast next to a cold sea, not summer within spitting distance of the equator. You felt like you were boiling. Arren started eating the ice cubes, and you soon joined him.

Your escorts came down for landings soon after, and Lyse and Marcus entered the bar, both of them looking much better put together, having the benefit of altitude and speed to cool them down under the hot sun. You shared a glance with your team, and stood up and waved them over.

"Hey you two! Drinks on us!"

They sat at the table, Marcus smiling, and soon there was another round of drinks and a light lunch heading your way. Marcus seemed animated and friendly, his dog perched attentively with ears just visible over the edge of the table, but Lyse still seemed distant.

"Shame we didn't find whatever it was, huh?" Marcus said, helping himself to the basket of breadsticks that had materialized. "At least, I presume. Looks like you didn't need us at all!"

"We're still going to need to get paid." Lyse said, sounding quite annoyed, and you forced yourself to keep a smile on your face.

"Of course! It was better to have you and not need you than the reverse." you said, crunching down on another little cube. You saw Lyse wince, and you laughed. "Sorry. We're from down south, we're overheating like crazy."

"Heh, yeah, I figured. What brought you all the way up here?" Marcus asked.

"Adventure, whims of the business, you know." Heinrich added. "What about you, Marcus?"

Heinrich's flirting voice was extremely funny to you (the man simply didn't understand subtly), so at least your smile was genuine now. Lyse, for her part, seemed to just tune out, shifting in her chair to let her legs dangle over the armrest and scribbling in a tiny book. Sort of like Minna and her notes, you thought.

"Me, I was born just a bit up the coast, so like... being nearby brought me here." Marcus joked.

"Yeah, but you don't just start flying bombers for no reason. What got you and Frau Grumpy over there working together?" Heinrich asked. "You're not together, are you?"

"Oh, aha, no! Not even a little." Marcus said.

"Gross." Lyse commented, the first word you'd heard from her, but Marcus laughed and she smiled, so you knew it must have been a joke between them.

"Well, that's good to know." Heinrich said, and Marcus smiled genuinely.

"Dude, I'm flattered, but you're not exactly my type."

"Darn. You understand, I had to try. A straight pilot? What are the odds..." Heinrich muttered, still in good spirits.

"So what got you working together then?" you asked, trying to get things back on task. Marcus leaned for, clearly enthusiastic to tell the story.

"Okay, so, about three weeks ago, I'm getting up to start the day, when a plane in Sopwith colours drops out of the skies trailing all kinds of smoke and lands hard on the beach. I got Lyse here out of it, and I rolled the plane into my hanger just in time, because a couple of mean-looking planes buzzed over looking for her just like ten minutes later. She was in a pretty bad way, so I got her back in the air, and..." you saw him glance at Lyse, who was staring at him with an irritated look, and he trailed off, "... yeah. That's it, basically."

"So you just decided to team up? Cool." you said, trying to figure out your next angle. Turning to Lyse, you asked, "Sopwith, though? I thought your said you were from Loring?"

"Yeah? Maybe I stole the plane? Maybe who cares?" she responded tersely, scribbling something new in her little notebook.

Stay cool, Isa. She's trying to get a rise out of you.

"Fair enough." you turned back to Marcus. "So, where to now?"

He shrugged.

"I dunno. We're gonna trawl around looking for work, I guess, we're not really heading anywhere in particular. I mean, if you do find that big monster or whatever, I'm still willing to try and drop a bomb on it." he said. "What did you find down there, anyway? Anything?"

Maybe you just needed to give incentive for Lyse to start paying attention.

"We didn't find what we were looking for, but we found, get this, a bunch of papers and stuff from a Sopwith military outpost." Lyse perked up a little, though she was clearly trying to hide it. Jackpot. "Yeah, they were looking for the monster too. Well, 'monster', it's a big airship war machine thingy. Heard of anything like that?"

"Nah, that sounds fucked up. Like something from the war." Marcus said. "What about you, Lyse?"

"Yeah. Fucked up." she muttered. She was clearly trying to keep her emotions under control and was clearly doing a terrible job.

"Yeah, I dunno. We'll let you know, I guess. Let's talk about something else though, it's a bit depressing." you said. "Who's that?"

"This little guy is Milo." Marcus said, and Milo's ears perked up as he looked around, excited to hear his name. "He's... a mix of all kinds of stuff, I dunno. A lot of retriever and shepard-y bits I guess. Found him about two years ago as a little puppy. Smartest dog I've ever met, and he loves to fly."

You leaned around the table, and Milo came over, poked your hand with his nose, and looked up at you with his giant, adorable eyes. Oh my gods.

"He's so cute. I've never had a dog, or like, any pets, but I am seriously regretting... Arren, look at his little nose!"

Arren, who'd been sketching and tuning out most of the conversation, looked, and then laughed.

"Hey Isa, skritch his ears." he said. You reached to do so before you got the joke, and instead threw a breadstick at him.

"Rude!"

"No, do it, he'll love you forever." Marcus added, obviously oblivious, and you buried your face in your hands with a groan as Arren and Heinrich completely lost it.

"Oh Gods you're the worst." you muttered, but then you heard a new laugh, and you looked up to see Lyse doing her best to conceal her laughter behind her tiny book.

"Whoa, Lyse? You okay?" Marcus asked.

"Sorry, fuckin'... she's the one dating the wildling girl with the wolf ears..." she explained haltingly, between giggle fits. "Goddesses, I'm sorry, that's so dumb."

"Yeah... it's okay. Ignore them, they're being dumb." you said.

"Yeah, no problem." Lyse responded, and finally, finally closed her little book and started sitting like a human. Success! "Sorry for hitting on her or whatever, I didn't know you two were together."

"It's cool, we have an open thing." you said dismissively, "I was just having a bit of a bad day is all."

"Yeah, been there." Lyse replied." So, um, could we go back a bit? You said something about a Sopwith base?"

"Yeah. They were salvaging some submersible ships to go hunting for um..." you tried to figure out how much you should give away, if you should name the machine, but Lyse spoke up before you could.

"A Leviathan, right? Sheeta?" she asked, looking a little grim, and you nodded. "Yeah... do you know if they found it?"

"No idea. But I have reason to think they won't." you replied, and her hand tensed on the table, she took a deep breath, you could see the agony on her face.

"Yeah. Fuck. Fuck." she muttered. "It... it hasn't attacked anyone, has it?"

"Not... not exactly." you said. You were keenly aware everyone else at the table was looking at you two in silence now. "But I'm pretty sure it's moving, and it's... it's done something really bad, and we're worried it'll do it again."

The anger faded from her face, replaced with despair, her mouth moving silently as she tried to find the words.

"I... I didn't... fuck. It's not my fault..."

She leaned helplessly against Marcus, who looked at you awkwardly for a moment before cautiously hugging her. They clearly hadn't had much close contact before this point, and now she was sobbing quietly into his shirt.

"Goddesses. What's..." Heinrich started. "Dear, are you okay?"

She couldn't quite find her voice, muttering something you couldn't hear to Marcus, and he started talking instead.

"Lyse was... she's part of a big noble family in Sopwith, or... was. She was adopted, but her family basically disowned her when they had more kids so she couldn't inherit. She stole a plane and ran away from them, and took some amulet or something when she went..."

"I... I was trying to do a good thing. I didn't want them to have it. Nobody should have it." she managed to choke out between the tears.

"Yeah... she said it controlled something really bad, but I didn't know what it was. Um... she had it stolen from her, though. She landed in this place a bit north from here, it's part of the South Macchi Confederation, and an officer there recognized her family's seal and tried to take her hostage. She barely made it out with her life, but they got the amulet. We were... we were flying missions to try and get the money together so we could figure out how to get it back, but we thought we had time..."

"Guess not. So, this Confederation has it?" Arren asked.

"I guess, yeah. They sent their warplanes after Lyse, so I guess it's pretty official." Marcus said. "They're like a dozen villages or so, they've got a big fort and stuff. We weren't sure what we were going to do, just that it would cost a lot..."

You shared a look with your teammates.

"Well, I think we might have the same mission." you said.

Huh, that turned out... significantly better than I expected, honestly. Like, I expected Lyse to be less sympathetic, but I'm down with this? If she's telling the truth, and I think she is, we got a good score and she seems genuine. (Though maybe I'm too trusting?)

[X][Info] We need to know about the place that took the amulet. Can we find them on a map? How are they organized, how do they make their livelihood? What kind of forces do they have? Do they have any allies we need to watch out for, or enemies who might be used to our advantage? Where would they be likely to store something valuable like this locket - the fort, or is there another place? Anything helps, really.
[X][Info] Get more details on how the locket works from Lyse. If we destroy it, will the Sheeta go dormant? Can it be used remotely, or would someone have to take it down to the Leviathan in order to control it?

(Ground combat bad. Bombing the macguffin from orbit good. :V )

@open_sketch do we still have the key in Isa's plane from way back when? It feels like it's been ages and I completely forget

[X] Leave the eyewatering icons on the side. (+1 Stress per Mission, may throw off the aim of human targets)
-[X] But maybe change them. When you marked those runes, it was in a fit of grief, of pure sorrow. Now you're angry. Now you have a plan. Mark your mission on the side of the plane. You can't bring her back, but you can destroy the thing that killed her.

The markings mean too much to just wash off, but I do think Isa's perspective has changed. Once her vengeance is complete, then she can remove the markings entirely.

[x][Relaxing] Take a dip in an ice bath to try and banish the memory of stupid hot gas suits. Or at least dunk your head in a bucket of delicious cold. Clear the head.
[X][Relaxing] Find a pilot bar. Get Heinrich a date at the pilot bar. Laugh at Heinrich's misfortune at the pilot bar. You can tell him you're looking for recruits to take on this Confederation.

Okays, so first off, I think we need to find out more about our mysterious enemy. Their history, major events, victories, defeats. The things that make them who they are. If we can figure out their motives, we should be able to discern what their next courses of action should be, even if that does just boil down to a list of targets for us to attack/defend/investigate.

As for relaxation, maybe we could take a cheeky ice-bath with Arren? A fancy meal with the crew, perhaps, and because I am always a sucker for more Minna content, maybe Isa could ask her to teach her embroidery.

Next up is purchases. Considering that I don't really keep super careful track of stuff, I have no idea what we might need, and will bow to the wisdom of those who actually do. But we should do a general resupply at least.

As for the symbols?
[X] Try to clean it off.

I don't think the added stress is worth it, and we're about to head into what might be a series of dreadfully dangerous battles.

[X][Info] We have a person who is presumably trained for this sort of stuff. Ask Minna what information and resources she needs to take on a semi-organised government.

[X][Relaxation] Is there a beach here? I've been waiting on a beach episode for so damn long.

[X] Leave the eyewatering icons on the side. (+1 Stress per Mission, may throw off the aim of human targets)

[X][Info] We need to know more about the people we're putting ourselves up against, hopefully Heinrich, or one of the locals, knows at least something about them. Who are they, how they interact with the rest of the region, all that good stuff. Their organizational structure would be extra useful.
[X][Info] Get more details on how the locket works from Lyse. If we destroy it, will the Sheeta go dormant? Can it be used remotely, or would someone have to take it down to the Leviathan in order to control it?

[X][Relaxing] Take the whole crew out for a meal, after the harrowing experience in the dead city, they deserve it. It would also help Lyse and Marcus get to know who they'd be flying with if they decide to stay on.
[X][Relaxing] Afterwards, take Arren upstairs for a nice cold bath, he's likely feeling the heat just as you are.
[X][Relaxing] But don't forget to look after Wulf as well, though she probably won't enjoy cold water as you and Arren would, you're sure you can involve her in a way that satisfies all parties.

[X] Try to clean it off.

Here's my new Idea, please feel free to cannibalize for your own plans if you want.

Arren's probably going to tackle Isa the moment she suggests that she wants to make some adjustements to the runes, but we can try.
