It is 1899, the turn of the century.
New technology is thrusting mankind forward to the future while the old powers wain.
Today is a day of mourning and celebration.

For today is the Day of your Coronation.
Your Father, died from a tragic hunting accident.
And now you, his only child, will assume the mantle of Lord of this tiny piss ant country, squished between far greater powers.
You hope to bring prosperity to your backwards, superstitious, impoverished people.

Good luck.

This is a Fantasy/WW1/2 CK2 Europe thing, inspired by all the Warhammer Fantasy Quests out there.

But First tell us about your country
Where are you located?

It seems obvious to me that we need to get into Colonialism yesterday, while colonialism is still a thing. IIRC there should still be some territory not owned by other European powers up for grabs. Should be the easiest way for us to expand. As such access to the ocean is vital.

[X] An island in the Mediterranean

Of course if someone with more knowledge of European history can think of better opportunities to gain profit or grab territory with one of the other options feel free to point that out.

Bloodline is a bit less clearcut. Hercules is obviously right out of course, we have left the age of warrior-kings far behind. Ghenghis Khan seems iffy, I doubt nomadic tribes would be too useful without pissing off all our neighbours and they seem kind of unreliable. Add to that the fact that I don't see how they're going to get to the island and that they like mooching... I'm gonna say they're not worth the trouble.

Being good on a horse doesn't strike me as being a pivotal advantage. Of course we could always go the conquering warlord route and sweep up Europe with our hordes of steppe nomads but that sounds hilariously impossible, especially in this day and age.

Moving on to the Capets. While a claim on France is very shiny it just isn't worth it. If I recall my french politics correctly they are absolutely never going to accept another monarch in power, and frosty relations in France will end badly in all sorts of ways. Wait what, we have a huge bonus to French diplomacy? Gm, could you explain how the fuck that works please? Why do the French like us?

So once the Capet thing is resolved, this probably only leaves two realistic choices, the Victorian Monarchs (I thought King Arthur was mythical? *confused*) and the New Bloods, both with their advantages and disadvantages. Monarchies are slowly becoming more irrelevant/marginalized or even dying out completely, but currently they do still hold a lot of power, technically they control the large majority of the world currently iirc. That combined with the fact that I wanna play a down on his luck monarch is making me vote for:

[X] Boy
[X] Descended from a relative of Queen Victoria.

The sky is blue, the Sun is shining, the River Rhine sparkles beautifully as it flows across your lands. The Farmland is rich, the harvests are plentiful, and the women easy on the eyes.

Unfortunately your country is landlocked and distant trade must cross French or German borders and go through their ports, often leaving you at a disadvantageous trade position.

Your almost neighbour to the north, Luxemburg feels a similar pain, though even they have the option of trading through the Belgians as well.

The Streets are filled with cheering crowds, music and flowers.
A large crowd has gathered in from of the palace to witness your Coronation.
Today, you will be a Duke.

What is the name of your country?

And what is your name?

After your Coronation, the feast, the dance and celebration are all over. A more sombre affair occurs.

Your Grandfather meets with you in private tells you that your father has willed to you his shares in the family business. You have a 10% stake in the company. That is easily enough to sit on the board of directors and collect a significant dividend.

With your father's death, the company currently lacks a CEO. As chairman of the board, majority shareholder, and acting CEO your grandfather asks you if you want to be the new CEO?

Advantages
Piles and piles of money.
You get to run a company, CEO actions.

Disadvantages
No free time
-1 Stewardship Action
-1 Intrigue Action
-2 Personal Actions

Maybe for ONCE we'd not take the inherited trait combo :p
Architect to BUILD stuff, Madness place to build STUFF, and two things to be mad about.

[X] Take the job

Capitalism Ho!

OK, so given that we are a remarkably tiny nation going for any martial traits seems a waste of time. We really need to get a few diplomacy buffs, preferably with an economics buff as well. So, going with:

[X]Gregarious: you always know just what to say. +2 diplomacy

[X]Persuasive: You always find the right words, be it small talk with nobles or a speech for the troops. (+2 Diplomacy, bonus to persuasion checks)

[X]Cloak and Dagger: You have underhanded ways of getting what you want. +3 Intrigue -1 Piety.

[X]Administrator: As a child you often followed your father around and learned from him the secrets of being a good leader. Skilled underlings. (+2 Stewardship)

To be honest, running both a country and a corporation seems a bad move. Assign someone who has a good head on his shoulders, and is as loyal to us as possible without sacrificing competence. We are going to need those extra actions if we want to get into a good position.
