Attention, my pleasant potential players! In light of the number of people who have currently posted - nearly twice as many as my stated limit - I have decided to cut the time for applications short. The new deadline will the 20th, this Wednesday, at which point I will be denying any further applications towards this game.

Now, for those of you currently working on your apps but haven't posted yet, please note. The important thing here is that your finished sheet, in particular, be posted. When it comes to the specific lore and more fluffed details, there is more detail involved. If necessary, lore can be worked on for a sheet after the deadline, or if I really like a sheet/its concept it can be worked on as the game starts. The thing that needs to occur before deadline is the stats sheet itself, with the story beyond that having more wiggle room.

Let us see how all of these wonderful sheets you have given me fare in the coming week, shall we?

The enemies of the Imperium are legion. Not all of them can be brought to heel by the mailed fist alone. Stripped of pomp, the Sable Fury are the Emperor's answer to these skilled foes. Astartes of the XX Legion are skilled in the more subtle arts of warfare. They are weavers of espionage reaching beyond the ever-expanding light of Terra. Few can hear the sudden shriek of their music in the shadows and live to understand its beauty.

Vespera served as Primarch of the Sable Fury. Thrown into the void at birth, she found refuge in a void habitat of Cra'ozabaehr. The Drukhari who ruled her did so with all the cruelty expected of them. Discovering the child's immense potential, the leader decided to use Vespera as a generator for the wards protecting the habitat. Shackled and drained daily, the Neverborn were drawn to her. They whispered of ways to free her if she surrendered to the Ruinous Powers. But both the xenos and the demons made one mistake.

She refused to break.

As Vespera grew into her prime, she tricked the Drukhari into untying her mouth. She let out a melody powerful enough to slay any xenos in Cra'ozabaehr. The Emperor heard it and knew where his last child was. The same was true for the monsters of the Warp who invaded Cra'ozabaehr in mass. Killing everthing in his way, the Emperor found Vespera in the amphitheatre of the tallest, blackest spire. Only he and his direct descendants were able to withstand the malevolent pressure of her music. He listened to the end. It was then that he revealed to Vespera her heritage and gave her command of the Sable Fury. Cra'ozabaehr was renamed Nightfall as a reminder of this day.

Updated Calliope's sheet for the new Primarch template. Najwa coming soon, hopefully is now finished as well.

I'll do what I can to make sure Pupper sees your app

Well, it's about that time, my good fellows. While the app selection process has not been entirely finished, it feels wrong to leave you all with nothing in the meantime. As such, it has been decided to alter my original plans slightly. Rather than give you all the entire list of 20 Legion selections at once, there shall instead be two selection groups. That's right - the first 10 are here! Congratulations to the following individuals for being the easiest ones among the many to pick out:

  1. Stellan the Liar, and the Void Singers (@Always Watching)
  2. Xeren, and the Swift Mercies (@Glassware)
  3. Indrajan, and the The Blazing Wheels (@Kaboomatic)
  4. Tokyo, and the Imperial Ascenders (@Bias)
  5. Nitocris, and the The Ebon Angels (@The Plantagenet)
  6. Kromer, and the Nagel Und Hammer (@Princess_Hex)
  7. Marzia, and the Sacred Chevaliers (@Sara)
  8. Cassio, and the The Red Blades (@Another Amoeba)
  9. Morgaine, and the Lion Knights (@Mordred)
  10. Vaska, and the Adamantine Guard (@Taricus)

Welcome to the game! The other 10 applications should be revealed over this weekend for you all, likely tomorrow - but, for now, here are the first half. Now, I suppose I'll go work on the second half, eh?

Right. So. Apparently I finished the last 10 apps quicker than I anticipated. No matter, just means you all get to know early! Well, enough preamble, here goes....

  1. Tetrac, and the War Forged (@SteelWriter77)
  2. Mosaic Host, and the Mosaic Host (@Uniquelyequal)
  3. Imil & Ofmil, and the The Prometheans (@triumph8w and @Mortis Nuntius)
  4. Tharas, and the The Tempest Lances (@THatWhichWillBe)
  5. Vespera, and the Sable Fury (@Carol)
  6. Cu Caradog, and the Star Rangers (@DeathslilHelper)
  7. Theoderic, and the Groundbreakers (@Romans1029)
  8. Najwa, and the Unbroken Legion (@Kirook)
  9. Saoirse, and the Free Blades (@betammm)
  10. Ikard Augustine, and the Trailblazers (@Frostbyght)

Congratulations to those who have made it! For those of you who have not, my condolences, but never fear, for you can still apply if you desire! Mortal apps will be open at this point, meaning that I will consider them for the running. Do note that that does NOT mean I will accept whatever you dish out - there may be no stats (unless you apply as someone's Hero), but that doesn't mean I won't still carefully consider them.

The game is lesser, for the absence of the great bear. But ah well. Here are some hero apps instead, all for members of the Star Rangers under Cu Caradog:

High Lord Scrage Goldheart

'Blood, tanks, ships, gold ... they're all just currencies and I understand currencies'

If the Army and legions are the muscles of the imperium, the mechanicum the bones, Goldheart and his consortium are the tendons. Innumerable ships moving the materials from mine to forgeworld and from forgeworld to destination. His primary assets are the ships but he owns the mines, he owns the retailers and so much more. Countless billions of menials labour at his far away direction. He even owns armies. His resources are at such a scale he can raise, equip and sell on entire armies at a time. He knows what his purpose is and he fulfils it well.

In the end its just good business

Nina Hallexiore of the Progressive Mechanicum

The Adeptus Mechanicus is an essential cog of the Imperium of Man. It's internal divisions between those too blind to accept progress for the betterment of Mankind and potentially a better understanding of the Omnissiah must be resolved. In the name of the Omnissiah progress must be made.

Luther Nexah, her chief rival within the Mechanicum disagrees. Where Nina Hallexiore seeks out every opportunity to experiment and develop new projects to seek improvements for implementation, the Preservation faction seeks to utilise what already exists and limit themselves to the recovery of intact STCs. While STCs are a valuable tool, they are too random and limited to be relied upon (in Nina's opinion) to advance the Imperium of man to reduce losses suffered on campaign against the multitude of Xeno threats throughout the galaxy, particularly when considering the threat posed by the Aeldari and the combination of their technology when combined with their warp sorcery. The gap must be closed that the Imperium of Man can secure its borders against all threats, and ensure that the Adeptus Astartes have every advantage Nina can muster to prevail on their campaigns.

Only time will tell if she can sway the Fabricator-General to her point of view.

Parmenion Macharius Nikanor
The Hammer of Kador
First Lord of the Cataphractarii
Triumphator Quattuor

High Lord of Terra
Dominus Primaris Imperialis
Former Lord Commandent of the Imperial Army
Veteran of the Unification Wars
Chancellor of the Estate Imperium

"Human life is inherently worthless, this is not a statement to inflame or one that broaches discussion, it is a simple, undeniable fact. Humans are expendable, we are self perpetuating, yet self destructive, adaptable, yet flawed. Human life is abundant. Overpopulation of any colonized world is a given. Through the lens of cold objectivity, it is impossible to say that every individual life has worth. And so, with that being the case, it is simple to state that human life is worthless. In the forging of the Imperium, an endeavour that will affect trillions, hundreds of trillions, perhaps even quadrillions of humans, what is the worth of a billion lives? Or two billion? Or ten billion? Our choices are limited, drastic action must be taken. By putting one world to the sword and fires of war, we safeguard the Imperium. Human life has no worth, but the Imperium? The Imperium has more worth than anyone or anything within it. A human life given for the Imperium is not a trade, it is a given. A billion lives given for the Imperium to continue is not a concept, it is an undeniable fact. And so world's will die, populations shall be slaughtered, but all that matters, is the Imperium triumphs."

The Illusive Man
High Lord of Terra
Name: [Redacted]
Age: Unkown
Race: Assumed Human
Alignment: Human Ascendancy
Assets: Unknown
Influence: Unknown (Medium)

In a galaxy brimming with diversity and complexity, it has always been my belief that humanity possesses a unique and unparalleled potential. We are the architects of our own destiny, and our rise back to prominence is not a matter of chance but a testament to our unwavering determination and resilience. We have gazed upon the stars and dared to reach for them, to reclaim our a majority of our place among the cosmic forces that govern our galaxy. Throughout history, we have demonstrated our capacity to adapt and evolve, to overcome adversity and challenge the status quo. Our history is punctuated by moments of brilliance, from the invention of the wheel to the exploration of space. These achievements are not mere accidents but milestones on the path to our ultimate Ascendancy.

Yet, the path to Ascendancy is not one without obstacles. We face external threats from alien civilizations that view us with suspicion or hostility. We face internal discord, conflicts that threaten to tear our society apart. And we grapple with the limitations of our own mortality, seeking ways to transcend the confines of the human condition. Some may question my methods, my willingness to make difficult choices, to navigate the treacherous waters of moral ambiguity. But I ask you to consider this: in the face of the vast unknown, in the pursuit of Ascendancy, can we afford to be bound by the constraints of conventional morality? The universe is a harsh and unforgiving place, and to ensure humanity's survival and prosperity, we must be willing to make sacrifices.

I understand that my actions have been divisive, that they have stirred controversy and mistrust. But I assure you, every decision I have made, every sacrifice I have demanded, has been in service of a greater purpose—the preservation and Ascendancy of Humanity.

The Illusive Man is not a mere title; it is a reflection of the enigmatic nature of our journey. I may be a shadowy figure in the eyes of some, but I am guided by an unwavering vision of a future where humanity stands as a dominant force in the universe. A future where we are not defined by our limitations but by our potential.

1. Fritigern, Hero of the Groundbreakers, Chief Advisor to Theoderic, the Resolute @Romans1029

Every good warlord needs an assistant: someone to take care of their household, utilize their silver tongue to move things along, and occasionally engage in clandestine affairs. Fritigern is that to Theoderic, a fellow veteran from the Long War on Lys well accustomed to his master and comrade's thoughts. While most Astartes, especially those battle fanatics in the Groundbreakers, would chafe at such a role, it is one Fritigern is well suited to. After all, he was maimed in battle with the Orks and never quite recovered from it, leaving him a cripple who needs numerous augments to function day to day. Sure, he could have gotten put in a dreadnought, but that would just make negotiations and the regular officer's card game rather awkward, wouldn't it? Since being maimed, his skills as a diplomat have blossomed, and his silver tongue has been responsible for many newly discovered human worlds peacefully bending the knee. Don't believe the strange rumors that come from some of those worlds after he leaves though, you wouldn't want to defile the honor of someone so beloved and trusted by his Primarch and his fellow famously fiendish legionnaires, would you?

Welcome, my good fellow! May Fritigern be a wonderous addition to this most interesting tale. As for a Discord link, allow me to provide.

Also, yes, that is me officially accepting the character, ha.

Alright my fine Primarchs and other assorted players. It has been decided.

The deadline for the end of "Turn 0", or Turn 1 as it where, or whatever one might wish to call it, will batin nearly two weekS, at midnight of October 23th. So, you have until the 23 begins to get your orders ready and delivered. Of course, if one ends up requiring an extension, feel free to request one if you end up needing it! A late order is more appreciated than none at all, after all.

High Lord Sejanus, member of the Purist Faction

Sejanus
High Lord of Terra (Purist Faction)

A purist down to his bones, Sejanus believes the rightful role of the Pysker in the Emperor's new order is to lead the rest of humanity towards a bright and glorious feature, naturally given dominion due to simply being, well, better. Despite his arrogance, Sejanus cultivates a rather humble persona and appearance, emphasizing his nature as simply being a "lowly servant" of the Emperor, taking a perverse glee in needling others by implicitly accusing them of being disloyal, venal, or simply corrupt for not doing the same, knowing exactly how much irritation he is causing due to his potent empathetic abilities.

The Frumentarium, originally a (relatively) small department with a very specific role in exercising oversight over logistical irregularities, was transformed by Sejanus into a broad and sweeping mandate to scour the Imperium for the corrupt, disloyal, or incompetent and then deal justice as he sees it. It has given him ample opportunity to darken the doorstep of rival high lord and primarch alike, his Pysker watch dogs cultivating a fearsome reputation as effective scourers of deceit and executioners of those deemed "corrupt". Sejanus is, of course, still not satisfied-he has hopes to completely supplant the other internal police forces of the Imperium and demonstrate the righteousness of the Purist vision through it, all the while showing his quality by quickly jumping on any perceived weakness...
