Era Of Fiery Suns: An Alternate Timeline Warhammer 30K Game

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.

Like a supernova, the Imperium is born. It spills over the confines of mighty Terra and races outwards. At its helm resides The Emperor of all Mankind, a shining golden giant around whom rallies the mightiest warriors humanity has ever known. These are the Legions of Man, made up of Astartes, great and glorious superhumans built for war who know nothing but loyalty to their Imperium. Their goal is nothing less than the conquest of the entire galaxy, which is humanity's by right of the Emperor's decree.

With Terra at its beating heart, the Imperium stands strong and ready to face the unknown horrors of the galaxy. Among those dangerous stars, the Emperor searched for his lost children, the Primarchs. Lost to him at the dawn of his Great Crusade, they are his most perfect creations, the pinnacle of all he has created. Stronger, faster, smarter, and tougher than any other creature that has the misfortune of crossing them, natural leaders designed to be the Emperor's mightiest generals in his conquest of the stars.

However, unbeknownst to those on high, a darkness has taken root within the heart of the Imperium's mightiest. A darkness that, if allowed to fester and grow, could spell the end of the golden age of the Imperium, and the beginning of a new age of strife. A darkness that seeps from ancient powers that slumber in their rusted wastes, while capricious gods who seek to outdo each other drag the galaxy into their malicious games. These gods see the light that shines over the galaxy, and they despise it, for all that it represents. As system after system shines with scorching light, they seek to put an end to this Era, and snuff out every last Fiery Sun.

Hello, and Welcome. Era of Fiery Suns is a warhammer 30k primarch game in the tradition of "Age of Burning Stars" and "Age of Burning Empires". Players will be selected to lead the 20 legions of space marines in the conquest of the galaxy, to guide the Imperium, and Humanity as a whole, into a new time of prosperity and peace. It will be your task to conquer, expand, and grow, to eliminate threats against Humanity as you establish yourselves across the stars.

However, there are many factors at play to try and put a stop to this, not least of which being the First Heretic. One player will be chosen by the GM to perform the role of traitor, an agent of chaos seeking to tear down the stability and order that the Emperor upholds. Their role will be to corrupt their fellow Primarchs and destabilize the Imperium so that they can launch a grand civil war, kill the Emperor and halt Humanity's progress in its tracks. Only time will reveal who this traitor might be….

In order to make things unique and avoid getting stale, several things are different from the canon timeline. For instance, OC Primarchs are encouraged for applications! Canon Primarchs will be allowed, of course, but you are welcome to exercise your creativity to populate the legions with whatever characters you like.

Chaos itself will be made up of new gods, their domains and methods mysterious and fresh. Your knowledge of canon will not help you predict or react to their actions, and uncovering the mysteries of the warp may prove both boon and curse: for just as it may be key in guarding oneself against its influence, it may also provide a gateway to your mind for twisted machinations to pollute. Tread carefully, little Primarchs.

Of course, the changes are not limited to your foes without, as many more details beside have been altered for your allies within.

The Imperium is a far cry from its normal self, with names missing and new faces in their places. Malcador is one such face, the age old second to the Emperor simply absent from the Imperium. With the Imperium weighed down by the vacuum of power, the Emperor formed the High Lords of Terra, a council of the most powerful and influential members of the Imperium of Mankind, whose leadership will prove crucial in the Great Crusade.

The Mechanicum, often a matter of complexity in regards to the Imperium, faces even greater contention as a rift forms within their ranks. To Progress or Preserve, a question with such weight that few dare ask it aloud. Such debate and conflict weakens the Crusade, and yet it festers all the same, leaving many to wonder if this wound will end up infected.

Less relevant, but no less noteworthy, is the subject of Blanks. Always a contentious topic, these poor individuals face more complications than ever, even as opportunity arises for them. For while the Emperor shuns them and turns his back on the "soulless", many a wealthy or powerful individual sees their potential against those who utilize the Warp. In particular, the Sisters of Silence, such glorious heroes of the Emperor in one life, in this are often shunned by the institutions of the Imperium, even as they perform just as valiantly, if not moreso.

The Emperor himself has also changed. Having formed the High Lords to take care of things, and trusting them and his Primarchs to lead as needed, he has distanced himself more and more from those around him, diving into various workings for years on end, only to suddenly emerge with extravagant creations to aid the Imperium as he settles disputes with but a word. To earn his attention is a boon that both High Lord and Primarch crave, for even the right to boast of it is worth its weight in gold. But tread careful, least his attention be that of ire at the interruption of his Great Work….

Could the Primarchs be the missing piece that completes the Imperium and brings peace and stability to the galaxy? Or will they use the opportunities afforded by this strife, causing even more havoc and fashioning their own way? That is nothing to say of the coming storm, the galaxy itself trembling in anticipation and fear. You will have to decide your course, and simply pray that you have chosen correctly when the end comes…..

Rules:
  1. First and foremost, this is a game, and is supposed to be fun. Let's try to keep drama IC when possible, and calmly deal with it together when not, shall we? If you have an issue, please bring it up with me so we can all deal with it amicably.
  2. No one is safe from Chaos. If you join, you acknowledge the fact that your character(s) may fall to Chaos and be corrupted. The dark lurks at every corner, and the light can only guard so much.
  3. Please, ask me questions! If you want to know something, don't hesitate to inquire, whether in public or private.
  4. Discord will be required, I am (not) afraid to say. Lots of stuff happens over there, so anyone not on the server will miss important details they may very well need to know.

Primarch Kromer, and the Nagel Und Hammer

Kromer, the One Who Grips the Hammer

Raised on the broken world of Ruina, Kromer learned many skills as she unified her home world. Business acumen, leadership, warfare, a smattering of skills in many industries. More than anything, she learned how to kill, without remorse, in the name of her ideology. Kromer is a fanatic, utterly obsessed with the purity of the human form. Most specifically, she hates cybernetics of all kinds, seeing those who use them as heretics in need of painful purging from the realm of the living.

The legion which now falls under the umbrella of the Inquisition of the Nagel und Hammer, or simply The Inquisition, was once proud and honoured. They were astartes, they served their emperor dutifully, as all astartes should. Kromer has taken them and twisted them into something much more violent and hateful, purging all those who dared stand in her way. Now, they are a unified block of fanatics wholly devoted to her in mind, body, and spirit. Their one goal, to rid the galaxy of heretics once and for all.

Kromer's ascension tot he ranks of the primarchs was not without incident. She very nearly caused a civil war almost immediately after joining upon learning of the cult mechanicus. An entire faction of cybernetic fanatics, living in the same Imperium that she was expected to serve. The emperor himself had to step in, and she was eventually convinced to stand down. The deal she made with the Emperor is now the only thing binding her to the Imperium, and she makes no effort to hide her hostility to what she sees as a corrupt and wicked institution.

Moving like something out of a horror movie, Kromer is a spectre that provokes feelings of dread wherever she goes. Villified for nearly ripping the Imperium apart, as well as some incidents on many planets near her homeworld, she and her legion are all but barred from most Imperial space. She couldn't care less, if anything it brings her great joy to know the fear she provokes in others. Kromer relishes in the power she gains by terrorising those around her, in exercising her power and skills to dominate others into subservience.

Perhaps strangely, of all the primarchs she has the least presence. Normally, the mighty generals of the emperor are nearly suffocating to be around, and yet Kromer is easy to miss. Once you focus on her, however, it is hard to take your eyes away, and she always seems to know when someone is looking her way. In combat, she is a whirlwind of mayhem, fighting with a hammer, and most often, her bare hands. On rare occasions she will unsheathe her sword, Pain, which can cause wracking agony to anything, from the mightiest of warriors to the strongest of machines.

This is where I'd post my sheet.

Hey @Puppernickel quick question. What does Starward bound do as a perk? Is it just another form of Homeworlds?
The primary difference between the two is that Homeworld was a small empire that already existed, while Starward Bound is something you fashioned yourself, through your own effort. There's a prestige thing there to consider, as well as some background factors that involve lore fluff and the like

Can you combine the 2 to show you took a small empire and made it even bigger is that a no go?

Any docs on what each trait actually means?
I know the old versions of Primarch games had such. I wonder if something similar exist now?
Either as Gdoc or perhaps included as a tab for the spreadsheet.

The traits now have notes on their cells, so you just put the mouse cursor over them and they'll have a description of what the perk or flaw does

Nitocris, Prince of the Imperium

While many of the Primarchs were scattered across the Galaxy, and adults when the Emperor found them, Nitocris was found in the very grounds of the Imperial Palace, but merely a decade ago, and as a child.

Raised by the Emperor himself, along with an army of tutors, Nitocris is young and naive, with a joyous and friendly personality. Having reached the "age" of twenty years, Nitocris has been instructed to take the stars, join his siblings on the great Crusade, and Command his Legion.

Questoris Bacon; Primarch of the Lectors

'All evil is the product of ignorance, all good the product of learning'

The Man

The embodiment of the emperor's curiosity and delight in learning, he possesses a natural proclivity for the sciences. A love of learning and sciences he passed onto his sons.

Hailing from the world of Camford, formerly a university world under the old human federation the scholars of the world preserved much from the wreckage of the collapse. The infant Bacon landed on the world and was taken in by the professors of a nearby college. He was given the name bacon, in honour of a great scientist of the past, and grew learning at the elbows and shoulders of the faculties of the college. An unmatched prodigy in all science he devoured learning and after riding to chancellor of the world's colleges through his direction brought about a golden age.

He had not wanted to take up the sword when the emperor came but true promise of learning; and the opportunity to spread the light of science to the darkest reaches of the galaxy convinced him. He was given the Dragon warriors, so named for their love of chemical and pyrotechnical warfare and renamed them the Lectors.

With his legion he spread the light of unity for decades but his unwillingness to keep to the restrictions on topics of research proved disastrous. Despite the warnings of the emperor and then veiled threats he continued he research into the blanks and the geneseed. When the punishment came it was horrific, the emperor sent a number of legions and had Camford put to the torch; all documents and projects which had been present were confiscated, the colleges were pulled down and all involved with the project disappeared. Then it was declared a warning.

what remained of the colleges and the planets population were brought to the legions base were they were given sanctuary.

The Legion

'Never tell someone your gonna kill them in advance'

The lectors are a legion which delites in finding the most elegant and efficient way to solve problems. Wether that problem is how to load a cargo hauler more efficeinctly, how to design a train that runs better or how to tear apart an enemy armoured divison its all the same. The legion embraces science and learning like no other. Every legionaire is expected to be a master in several disciplines and wether it is mathematics, science or even economics & psychology turn those means to breaking the enimies of man.

The legion's engineering and biological departments are particuarly famous. A common refrain among the legions is that A lector never truly dies, they just slowly get upgraded. the legion is organised into colleges; analogus to other legions chapters. Unlike those thety are much more horoiontal with only a few direct officers among the college and the remaining structre decided by precedence. Furthermore the legionaires are divided by speacilty, or faculty.

1: Hakkon, The Great Bear, Primarch of the Ursus Astra

MEN5GVZ_o.png

The boy that would become Hakkon was scattered to the world of Krum, a wild and primative land populated by clans of nomads who rode great hexapodal ursids. Hakkon was adopted by such a clan, and on demonstrating his prodigious psyker abilities was given to the Druidic Shamans of the clan to raise as one of their own, learning to channel his powers as manifestations of the natural world, but never to take them for granted or rely on them for all things. The Druids also served as the judges and diplomats of the clans, and it was in this role that Hakkon would truly flourish, becoming the most respected of them all and leaving his old clan to wander the vast plains, forests, and mountains of Krum, going from clan to clan and settling disputes whilst meditating on the spirit of the world and the Great Ocean beyond it.

It was through these meditations that he first made contact with the spirit of his father, The Emperor, conversing with him on the nature of reality and unreality many times, and so was fully prepared for the Emperor's arrival. He joined his Legion, renamed the Ursus Astra, and began to shape them in his own image. Hakkon's many virtues and quiet wisdom won him much admiration and respect through the course of the Great Crusade, though by then his psychic might had grown so great that he is ever surrounded by the chill of the void. A minor mutation that he typically laughs off by telling mortals to dress up warm around him.

Primarch Baris, and the Mosaic Host
The Mosaic Host
Many Legions received names before they found their Primarch, honorable cognomen bestowed upon them in the aftermath of a particularly outstanding engagement or referring to a particularly successful tactic. The Mosaic Host, though fighting competently within the final years of the Unification War, held no such distinction, for before any such name could be bestowed upon them, tragedy struck. Baris Kaan, their Primarch, had been one of the first Primarchs to be discovered, his Pod falling upon a world close to Terra, where he was quickly discovered by the Emperor. Yet at the very same moment that the Emperor discovered the world, the planet began to violently rip itself apart: worse, the parts of the world were thrown into the Warp, scattered into every direction and out of the grasp of the Emperor of Mankind. And so, the Legion was bestowed the name of Seeker Host, and granted the task of rediscovering their Primarch, come what may: for though it seemed impossible for anything to survive what had befallen the Planet.

The Seeker Host scattered, attaching itself to many of the different Legions going in every different way, learning from each of them and quickly gaining a Reputation as brutally efficient Shock Troops, their Breacher seemingly capable of surmounting insurmountable odds and breaking unbreakable stalemates. Long campaigns far distant from one another took a toll upon the Legion, and different cultures quickly began to develop, not helped by the practice of new recruits being trained by the parts of the Seeker Host they were assigned to directly, often training alongside members of their host Legion. As the Great Crusade went on, voices petitioning to absorb the Astartes of the Host directly into the Legions which they had fought side by side with grew louder and louder, although all was not well: as more and more Legions discovered their Primarchs, elements of the Host found themselves cast out and left behind by rapidly changing Legions, made obsolete in their organization by Primarchs wishing to mold the Legions under their command in their own images.

Often, this separation was handled without ill will or rancor, the Host departing with their honors and standards held high, honoring the Primarch that had now taken charge of the Legion. On at least three occasion, however, there was hostility in their departure, the changes wrought to the Legions in question so fast and all-encompassing and marked by such cruelty that those from among the Seeker Host attached to them quickly departed, frequently preserving old Iconography and relics that might have been cast down in their new Primarch's iconoclastic renewal. In all this, the Host was united only in one all-encompassing desire, united by one factor despite all their differences: their desire to rediscover their Primarch, so that they might experience what they had seen so many times.

Such was not to be for a very long time: in fact, members of the Seeker Host were present at the reunification of every other Primarch with their Legion before they met their own. Ultimately, it was upon a small, utterly barren planetoid at the very edge of the Galaxy that the Primarch was discovered, defending himself and a small, aging community of scholars that had found refuge within an ancient and mostly defunct ship crashed upon his homeworld with it it's Gellar Field miraculously still functioning. By the time the Primarch was found, Xenos Predation and the sheer, utter barrenness of his involuntary home had left him the only survivor, forced to fend for himself and kept sane only by the vast collection of scholarly work that had been aboard the ship, though the planetoid, disappointing as it was, had long been pacified by his hand. Still, where other Legions had found glorious, conquering Warlords, the Seeker Host, at the end of their long and arduous search, found what was by the standards of the Primarchs a rather unassuming figure, tilling plots of land in a desperate struggle to eke out his own survival, burnt by the hostile sun around which his involuntary home revolved and militarily accomplished only in having led the survivors that had educated him in desperate struggle against the Xenos menace.

If there was disappointment amongst the Seeker Host, they did not show it: instead, aided by the Emperor and helped along by many of the Legions they had fought side by side with, they went about reassembling the Legion, the Primarch being taken from Theater to Theater and Campaign to Campaign, assembling the Space Marines which he was to lead and fighting alongside them to pick up his trade beyond the knowledge implanted by the Emperor. Reassembling the Legion took nearly a decade, so dispersed and sought after were the members of the Shattered Host, and when they finally stood back together, they scarcely seemed like a unified force at all: the battle honors, standards, and colors of 19 other Legions were on proud display, the different adopted cultures more subtle, but no less present: a sea of colors signifying vastly different experiences and expectations. The Primarch, clad in armor held in gray by the Mechanicum for lack of a unified Legion Color, beheld the sons he was to command and sensed their expectations and hopes. He was the culmination of their efforts, the promised leader that would lead them to glory in their own name. These were expectations that would have crushed a lesser man utterly, and even to one designed to lead as Baris Kaan was, they proved stunning, the Primarch speechless for a second at the assembled sight before them.

Then, the moment passed, and he spoke, walking up and down the rows of his Sons. He spoke to each company, extolling their achievements and enumerating their long history, demonstrating a knowledge of the Legion as a whole which so far had so far been unknown in its totality. He spoke of their experience frankly, and of his own fighting alongside them humbly, drawing parallels between their disparate units which had so far escaped them. In all this, he likened them to a beautiful mosaic: each of its parts a jewel in its own right, yet elevated and made grander still by being placed together and acting as one. Thus the Mosaic Host was born, clad in the gray of the Primarch without displacing their own colors, their boarding shields still decorated in the colors of the Legion they had served with, and in the jubilation that followed the granting of their name, their division and the time apart was forgotten, if only for a short time: for the Primarch and the Legion both knew that forging these Astartes into one unified whole would be a difficult and arduous task.

Primarch Lore

The story of Justinian Calderon begins, like all other Primarchs, when he crash landed upon his new Homeworld. In Justinian's case he landed upon the Shipyard World of Veniza. At the time of his arrival Veniza was a world of trade and shipbuilding which had used its intact Federation shipyards to create a trade fleet. Over the years since Veniza had begun sending out trade vessels to increase their influence and fill their coffers they had (through either promises or political pressure) brought in 2 mining worlds, 2 Agri worlds, a Civilized world, and the most shocking of all was the inclusion of an Exodite world into their Federation thus increasing their own power and profits.

The World of Veniza was ruled by a King and the council of the 13 Patricians who chooses the next king whenever either the old king dies or after 20 years of their rule. The council is made up of the heads of the 13 most wealthy and powerful Patrician families at the time of the kings election. This has had many benefits such as keeping open warfare down to either brief skirmishes or lightning wars between families. It also leads to most political struggles being more subtle and in the shadows as over-reach on any families part can see them either lose their seat among the 13 or dash any hope of claiming one for decades. As for the King, his term limit before going up for re-election (if not already dead) forces them to be careful in how they reward their allies and punish their enemies as a change in their own families fortune could spell a brutal fall from grace as multiple Patrician families team up to tear them down. This has lead to less obvious favoritism amongst the 13 as more than 1 king has woken up dead after going too far in their judgement and their houses crippled for decades.

When Justinian landed upon Veniza he was in the estate of the middling Calderon Patrician Family. When the master of the house, Lord Maximillian, saw this child he immediately took him into his family for Justinian, like most Primarchs, was inhumanly beautiful and had a sort of aura around him. By the time he was 1 he had mastered all the basics such as reading, writing, basic science, and mathematics. After that he began studying trade, economics, military strategy and tactics, martial arts both with and without weapons, and even naval combat and how to captain a ship. This took a total of 4 years and in that time had also been dabbling in the family business and had made a tidy sum of profit as well as making some associates. He had also grown closer to his eldest sister Loraline. She was the person in charge of the families defensive vessels and had been protecting their trade ships for years. She gained the scar across her face during a battle with a small fleet of Ork Freeboota's. Her fleet had been duking it out with the Orks when one of the Kaptains teleported onto her bridge and started a Duel. At the end she had a large gash in her face and the Kaptain was down a hand before he ported back to his ship and since then they have been rivals. She also has another Ork Kaptain that has been a constant thorn in her side, who keeps hitting her trade ships a random times which drivers her livid.

The thing that set of Justinian's true rise to power however was the arrival of an Explorator fleet originating from the Forge World of Blackrock. They had come to Veniza after hearing of rumors of their DAoT shipyards. After they arrived they demanded to meet with the King, ignoring even the most basic of courtesies and procedure. This was granted only because of the Explorator's fleet in orbit, as nobody wanted them to start shooting thing for being made to wait. When the Explorator entered the throne room he immediately declared that he was here as an emissary from the Forge World Blackrock and was here to take control of the shipyards as was his right as a high ranking member of the AdMech and part of the only people who understood and deserved such a piece of technology. The sheer gall of this proclamation stunned the King, his advisors, and the 8 members of the council that could make it in time. Here this complete stranger had come to them to arbitrarily take a significant portion of their peoples prosperity, power, and defense all without reparations or recourse. The King was understandably furious and expelled the Explorator from both the throne room and the planet stating "If you so wish to take them from us, then be prepared to die doing so!"

Thus began the War of Iron Blood which would last for 11 long, brutal years. At the start the AdMech had 8 Fleets and 10 Armies of Skitarii while the Venzian federation had 3 Fleets (5 including all house fleets) and 5 Armies (9 including all house troops and Condottiere) but where as the AdMech were already creating more where as Veniza just wasn't. In the first 4 years of the war Venezia lost 3 Fleets, 5 Armies, and 3 worlds to the Blackrock scourge who had only effectively lost 2 Fleets and 3 Armies due to new ones coming active. But the real turning point of the war was 3 years later at The Conflagration at Vivian's Hope 3 years later, one of Veniza's agri-worlds under siege. There the entire navy and most of the Army of Veniza was sent in secret to both relive the siege and to try and kill the 3 AdMech Admirals that were present in the system, thus shattering the chain of command. The Admiral of the navy was in fact Loraline Calderon and the General Justinian himself. It was a brutal 19 day space battle and 5 month ground campaign but through surprise, skill, and a healthy dose of luck all 3 of the Admech Admirals were dead along with most of their navy. The rest of the war saw the AdMech be pushed further and further, losing all the worlds they had taken along with the 2 Civilized worlds they had owned before the war. The last 2 years of the war occurred entirely on Blackrock. It was an unbelievably bloody siege where millions died on both sides both in space and on the ground. But at the end Blackrock fell and the leadership was replaced with more tolerable people who would be less likely to cause problems.

For the next 2 years the federation slowly rebuilt itself and all its worlds. It expanded its navy vastly and along with reforming the the Army to be the most well trained and equipped force they could, so as to be as well defended as humanly possible. At the end of this 2 year period the kings term in office was up and the Justinian family had risen to claim a seat at the new council of 13 thanks to the Houses effort both during and after the war, and more than a little help from Justinian and his superhuman intellect. After a week of fierce debate and not a small amount of debts & favors called in Justinian was declared King for the next for the next 20 years. These 20 years saw the completion of the rebuilding efforts and expansion of the armed forces. In this time the Xel'teen were also brought into the fold along with the Exodites of Nightryn Moon.
It was unsurprising when he was reelected as king, which saw over a decade of continued prosperity when his term was interrupted by the arrival of the Ironguard Legion (Future Reclaimers Legion) and their discovery of their Primarch and all that entailed.
The Reclaimers
The origins of the Venizian Condottiere stem from the combined force of standard army, house troops, and mercenary companies that fought in the War of Iron Blood. As the war progressed this combined force began to meld and homogenize though for all the benefits of this process it also introduced inefficiencies and other problems. After the War the Venizian Condottiere were reformed, standardizing their training regime and gear. The training time and intensity were increased while assimilating the experience and practical lessons learned to better prepare for the future. The gear was increased in quality, protective surface, and useability as far as practically possible. The Condottiere ranks were from conception open to everyone from all walks of life be they noble or mere citizen, human and later Xeno so long as the recruit has the physical, mental, and spiritual strength to endure the training and future service as well as the loyalty to stay true to their oaths.
The Xul'teen are a xeno's species that originated on the world of Kurock X'um where they evolved through the ages until the finally reached the space age. At this point the world was united under the Xellium Empire, a constitutional monarchy. When they finally developed feasible starship drives and began to set up the standard sets of mining stations, outposts, and research bases in their home system

Primarch Xeren, and the Swift Mercies

Xeren, the Merciful

Sheet Xeren,Perks Primarch,Emperor's Favor,1000 Xeno World,Primarch,Master Fighter,200 Vices,Virtues,Primarch,Found Early,100 Curious,Prideful,Empathetic,Diplomatic,Primarch,Skilled,100 Legion,Veterans,400 Melancholic,Envious,Industrious,Focused,Legion,Second Legion Elite,200 Legion,Special Fluf...

Humanity had a long history of conflict in the galaxy, and many were the worlds where they and other species fell upon each other in a vicious war of mutual extermination in the Age of Strife. But humanity was not yet united in hatred in those days; many societies found peace and even companionship between human and xeno, and some ties persisted even as the stars trembled with warpstorms.

It was one such society, the Far Stars Confederation, that discovered the lifepod of the Primarch Xeren. A multispecies democratic society of traders and wayfarers, they gladly welcomed one more lost soul in from the night. Identifying the young Primarch as a heavily modified human with accelerated development, Xeren was raised by a mixed group of humans and xenos. As they grew they proved a talented navigator and diplomat, quickly rising to a captain's position. All was well-until the fateful day when they encountered a warship of superhuman warriors, representing an "Astartes Legion" known as the Stellar Envoys. These Astartes recognized Xeren, treating them with reverence and fear, and eagerly offered to escort Xeren to the place of their creation and at last unveil the mysteries of their past.

And so Xeren met their creator.

It was not a pleasant encounter. The Imperium was anathemic to everything that Xeren believed in, and they could not hide their disgust at the realization-they had been built as a machine for galactic genocide and hegemony, a weapon to cleanse the stars in a tyrant's name. Had it not been so early in the Crusade-had their creator not been so in need of their creations-Xeren might have been struck down then and there.

Instead, they were punished for their defiance. Xeren came to understand that, as extraordinary a creation as they were, their creator was stronger still, and was forced to yield to his ambitions. The Primarch emerged from their meeting with the Emperor, physically untouched and psychically ruined, and went to work. The Far Stars Confederation could not exist in Imperial ideology, and so it was destroyed. The primary habitat, where Xeren had been raised, was transformed into the Emperor's Mercy, a hulking war vessel to which Xeren welcomed the Stellar Envoys.

The Stellar Envoys had reflected Xeren before they had even met. Diplomats and explorers, they had a proud record of peacefully bringing worlds into the Imperium. But Xeren was no longer that person-there was no longer room for diplomacy or peace. Xeren was a weapon, and would not allow their Swift Mercies to delude themselves otherwise.

Ikua, Forgotten Peacemaker:

Ikua was once a paragon of the legion. A diplomat of legendary skill, a much-loved exemplar of all the Stellar Envoys strived to be. Her words alone brought entire worlds into compliance.

It was the discovery of Xeren that brought her low. Ikua was one of the first of the Stellar Envoys to meet the Primarch, and then among the first to meet them after their encounter with the Emperor. She was at their side as they burned their home in his name. And even still, as they began to twist their legion into the Swift Mercies, the instrument of death.

Ikua understood, then, that the Emperor had done wrong by her Primarch. Her mistake was to voice this opinion.

The Custodes was merciful, and left her alive, though her injuries required that she be entombed in a dreadnought. And Xeren, in turn, turned away. They could not bear to look at their reflection.

Kurin, Silent Maker:

Kurin was the heart of the legion, the master of their forge. He did not only make weapons, but fantastic tools, demonstrations of Imperial technology that aided diplomacy. His failure lay in his inability to adapt to the age of the Swift Mercies. The Ork Kaptin Bozrok Flashgrabba raided Kurin's workshop starship during a major battle, taking countless tools and wargear. Kurin, unused to the void fighting the legion now practiced, was unable to stop him, and valuable relics of the legion were lost.

Secretly, Kurin has maintained a relationship with an old foe of the legion, the Aeldari Spiritseer Aranis Lyrane. In Kurin, the Spiritseer sees something Kurin does not understand-something hopeful. For Kurin, Aranis is death with a kind face, an enemy he is closer with than many of his legionmates. Kurin envies Aranis, for Aranis knows exactly what to do next.

Former Legion-Master Kiat:
Once, Kiat prided herself on her leadership. A master of the decapitation strike when diplomacy failed, she had to her record a string of peaceful compliances-and a longer list of compliances with an acceptable degree of minimal collateral damage. But hers was not the style of the Primarch the Emperor provided them.

Kiat was the one who led the legion in pursuit of the Spiritseer Aranis Lyrane, leading them to find their Primarch, leading their Primarch to the Emperor. She forces herself not to blame the Emperor for harming her Primarch, or her Primarch for failing the Emperor. Instead, she blames two people: herself and the Spiritseer Aranis Lyrane.

Kiat has been largely unable to pursue her grudge. Aranis Lyrane escaped the initial purge of the Aeldari community that traded with the Far Stars Confederation, and though he continued to bedevil the legion sporadically, Kiat found herself unable to keep up with Xeren's shift in the legion's tactics. She found herself replaced by her subordinate Aris, relegated to training duties, but she still holds to her old ways. For Aris she holds great spite in her heart, jealous of their proximity to the Primarch, yet is paradoxically grateful, as being distant somewhat eases her guilt.

Meleka, Paragon of Mercy:

There is no member of the legion that better exemplifies the philosophies of Xeren than Meleka, their paragon. Developing a mutation that caused them intense pain upon recruitment, Meleka channels this pain and fury into a berserker rage, lashing out at the world that hurts them to forget the pain for even a moment. They are Xeren's champion, their exemplar.

They would love to be anything else, but this is their duty. Meleka will see it through.

Loris, Death-Thief:

Loris has a vital role on the front lines: they keep their siblings alive. The Lifegiver Panoply grants Loris extraordinary medical capabilities on top of their already superlative skill; they have rescued marines from the grip of the sus-an membrane countless times. Yet they are not loved for this, for all can tell-Loris does this not out of love, or loyalty, but obligation. Loris will steal killers from their well-earned graves so they can take more lives. Loris will slay their foes on the battlefield.

But none of it will dispel the melancholy that clings to their every motion.

Legion-Master Aris:

Promoted to Legion Master after Kiat proved unable to adapt, Aris is an oddity of the legion. A curious and prideful creature, they relish their work in a way few others do, and are devoted to the hunt for Aranis Lyrane. Aris knows they are the best in the legion, knows that they can escape any trap and defeat any fleet.

And most of all-they know that none of this will bring pride to their Primarch.

Aris is deeply frustrated by Xeren, who elevated them, yet takes so little joy in their abilities. They distract themself by pursuing the hunt for Aranis Lyrane, their worthy opponent, and nurse a secret hope: that one day Xeren will find something in them to be proud of.

Primarch Kel Seran, and the Void Seekers
all equally interested
- Kal Seran
The Void Seekers are a Legion unlike most of the others. Seldom found on the frontlines of the battlefield, they can be more often found to be delving into ancient ruins or libraries or hunting down some hidden threats behind the frontline. Usually announcing themselves by the crackle of psychic energy to their enemies, their task is dealing with unusual and unexplained phenomena by investigating researching and terminating it with prejudice.
Several of these detachments are assigned to their sibling legions in order to support them close at hand if needed.

Kal Seran has very much shaped the legion after his own temperament. Unlike most of his siblings, he doesnt look appreciate conflict and combat and is far more interested in widening his knowledge of the universe and spreading such knowledge to further progress.
Growing up on Sekht, he grew up raised by the professors of the premier capital university. Enjoying a relatively quiet and peaceful childhood, he soaked up knowledge like a sponge. At a young age it was clear that he had abilities that could not be explained by normal means. Thankfully the University had a small department for paranormal studies where the previous lecturers themselves had managed to stabilize their abilities and build on that advanced their knowledge and ability. Proving again a quick study, Kal Seran surpassed his teachers in barely 3 years. Some of his seniors, consumed by envy tried a risky ritual to bolster their power, which resulted in them summoning a warp entity, which proceed to slaughter every being around it. Kal Seran being on the grounds, managed to banish away this warp entity back from where it came from, but not before half the university was in ruins. Following this he would throw himself into studies on how to contain future events like this and he would seldom leave his lab, except for teaching occasional classes up until the Emperor discovered him one day.
- Irian "the Architect"

Irian in landing on Shattrah, arrived on a world deeply fraught by divides. Following the collapse of the Dark age of technology, the Shattrah system based on its technological trove, build itself into a forge world if one deeply divided. Several Archmagi had split the various manufacturing complexes amongst themselves and were warring amongst each other for technology, industry and resources. Between the large complexes the land turned into a hellscape with thousands of years of warfare being waged over these ground.

When Irians capsule landed on the surface, he was discovered by techmagi of the Forge of Volur, who ironically were more interested in the technology of the capsule than the child within. Taking the young child with him, as they were not given to waste, Irian grew up under the "care" of Magos Adam. Growing up quickly and showing great intelligence Irian was taught the knowledge of his father. Though slated to become a mangos, the circumstances forced him on a different path. With conflict erupting with the other forges again, everyone not needed in critical tasks was conscripted for forge Volurs armed forces.

Given their nature, conflicts between the different forges tended to be heavy on war machines and artillery. Managing to distinguish himself over the several years of conflict, often by sheer dint of survival, he rose in the ranks of the military. While not loved by his men, he was nevertheless trusted to lead them to victory. The ruling archmagus of forge Volur however saw Irians success as a threat to his own power, afraid of him launching a coup.
Hence he made a plan trying to kill Irian using malicious scrap-code to manipulate Irian's foster father Magos Adam.
Irian had already half suspected that the ruling archmagus would see him as a threat, but the avenue of attack was a total surprise to him and only the superhuman constitution of a primarch allowed him to survive. Losing his foster father, the only person he truly cared about, this way sent Irian into a quiet rage and turned him even more unapproachable. He kept his head down for another 2 years hiding his intention before usurping power from the ruling archmagos, casting down his entire regime and taking over. Having Learned a great deal in his childhood and a natural when it came to machines and technology, he would soon surpass his predecessor and in a series of brutal wars, slowly but surely conduct a 27-year campaign which would see him in control of Shattrah, though the devastation of the world was considerable, due to the nature of warfare.

With him finding several remaining designs of basic starships, Irian recognized that to supplement his worlds hunger for resources he would have to expand the realm he controlled. Hence he began to conquer several of the neighboring systems and using them to feed Shattrahs hunger for manpower and resources, while also finding new examples of technology to use for himself and replicate. This would last for 20 years, before he would be discovered by an Imperial Expeditionary Fleet.

- Arthur and Ambrosius

Arthur and Ambrosius, while brothers, even twins, were radically different. While Arthur was outgoing, loud and something of an extrovert, Ambrosius tended to keep to himself and preferred to work behind the scenes.
Having arrived on Tintagal in an auspicious manner, with their capsule leaving behind the trail of a comet. However some sort of manufacturing error led to the capsule breaking apart shorty before the ground, leading to both twins landing in 2 different spots, with them taking little injury thanks to being primarchs.
Arthur ended up being adopted by one of the local rulers named Uther Pendragon, who was one of the numerous warlords. Merlin on the other hand ended up being adopted by a hermit in the woods.
Arthur growing up, made friends and companions who would follow him and his vision of a united world at peace, while training to be a ruler and warrior.
Ambrosiuson the other hand had to deal with a miserable old man, who while teaching him, never showed an ounce of warmth, but he was still taught the secrets of magic. The only respite was his unexplainable bond with his twin, thus giving him at least some warmth in his life.
Unbeknownst to Ambrosius, the old hermit who took him in had only taught him magic, in order to increase his value as a sacrifice. What he did not count on however was that Ambrosius had learned far more from him that he had expected or the fact that a primarch hitting you with a stout staff is going to turn your body into paste.

Over the coming years Arthur tried again and again to break his enemies either by martial might or by diplomacy, however it would only be when Ambrosius spread a "propecy" that only the the man who could draw the destined sword "Exacliber" from the stone would be the rightful Highking of Tintagal. Of course he had created that sword himself in painful labour and ensured that it would fit only his twins hand. This would do the trick and the rest of the world would either by force or diplomacy fall under Arthurs rule, with their previous unity destroyed.
