I have no idea what's going on here.
The S rank ninja who was most likely to be Naruto's heir but went missing nin after the villages dealt with the Open House (since he thinks chakra should be for everyone) and who know thinks that for him to achieve that he must be so strong that nobody would stop him just demolished our enemies, who were probably lied to about the treasure so that they try to get in the chamber he was in. The reason for that was to send a message to Hikaru that they know where he is. He also seems to know and be in good terms with Emiko, another missing nin aiming for S rank who has contacts with former Open House members and he thought we were here because she knew he was here but realised it was too slopy an execution to be intentional.

He set up a lot of the traps in the way here (which makes sense since they use chakra and iirc this was supposedly a pre sage site) and is offering to scort us out since he will probably leave anyways. We don't know why he was here but it required a lot of preparation.

Also, for some reason Ken wants our group alive. Shizue was prominent in the information he gave but that is probably from us being in every mission our operations crossed.

The room also had a seal of Kage level that caused a genjutsu to unerve people. That was the music we heard.

[X] What are those crates?
[X] What is with this room? What did it do?
[X] Uzumaki? As in… really?

Pursuing my curiosity about the site.
And what he's doing here(as for the Emiko connection, Emiko and Keikaku is intrinsically linked anyways...)

Being fair, neither does Shizue, besides a few obvious things.

(But that's why the vote is *literally* questions. Because Shizue doesn't know, and you're going to help her and yourself know.)

Even though we know this guy OOC, I'm still not sure it's the best to have readers as confused as our character. Like, of course weird stuff was happening, but I'd be less surprised at one of the enemy ninja growing an extra head then what just happened. The way the scene itself is written is very disorienting.

[] Uzumaki? As in… really?
Gives IC info on who this is.
[] What are those crates?
Could be mundane supplies, or ninja storage, or valubles?
[] Who is sending the message? The one that involved tomb robbers
Uh, pretty sure Shizue can guess. Emiko's S rank "guests" were following this guy.
[] You know Emiko?!
Tell me everything you know about Emiko-sensei!
[] What do you mean, sorry for the traps?
Yeah, you jerk, if you had those fancy eyes, why did you almost kill us only to rescue us right when you meet us in person? (Wait, maybe ask this instead?)
[] What is with this room? What did it do?
How many layers of genjutsu are we on right now?
[] Is this place real, or is this some sort of… modern creation?
My guess is it's a repurposed ancient construct, but what it's used for we don't know.
[] Do you know about the excavation?
He better know about the excavation. Better question is why it's being allowed to happen.

[X] If you were watching us all this time with the Byakugan, why did you let all this happen?

Maybe that's a good-enough question? Not sure if I want to try another write-in question or not.

There's really no way to get around it? Like, Shizue knows only a very little of what's going on. Some of that is, you know, secret stuff.

Some of it is that Emiko is not privy to handing out all of her secrets.

Having Shizue know what's going on would be contrary to the way this would work. That said, this is your first chance to start to actually unravel some of what's going on in the larger plot. I mean, Act 4 exists for a reason.

I'll say, no, the Byakugan isn't how he was watching them. Just so you don't waste a question? He could have, but he wasn't. He had other things on his mind, and other things he was doing. Like waiting for the guests.

I'm now wondering if Hikaru will pull out his inner Tobi and will go from unimportant side-character to the evil mastermind in a matter of several episodes. Would be pretty cool if he did so.

I guess what's confusing me is why a person would be hanging out inside an ancient ruin. Of all the places you could go, why there?

Perhaps the giant underground base was already occupied? With all those crates it looks like he was setting a base of operations though that is probably moot with a teaam of archeologists going to town in the ruins now.

So, about the questions:

[] Uzumaki? As in… really?

We can research him on our own time now that we know his name, so this feels like wasting a question.

[] What are those crates?

This would give us an idea of what is he doing, which we would inform Emiko later.

[] Who is sending the message? The one that involved tomb robbers

This would tell us about the mysterious third party that got us into this trouble

[] You know Emiko?!

Obviously he does and he seems to either be on good terms with her or not entirely disaprove of her since he implies he would have turned off the traps has he known

[] What do you mean, sorry for the traps?

He means he either activated or built them

[] What is with this room? What did it do?

Some sort of genjutsu though we don't know the purpose.

[] Is this place real, or is this some sort of… modern creation?

Something the archeologists can find out on their own. If he didn't want to, he can tell us himself.

[] Do you know about the excavation?

He is about to find out if not.

These seem like the ones we would have a harder time figuring out though I might change the last one to ask him about Emiko.

Edit: Given that he mentioned meditation, that he was tracking us but apparently not with the byakugan and that he wants power, he might be trying to become a sage.

I suppose I can help consolidate on Crates, were my fourth pick anyway:

Want to see what he himself thinks about his origins and the fact that he's part of the family that wants everything to stay as it is.

"Know one's enemy, know one's self". For this quest it can be turned into "know one's enemy, know one's teacher finally, goddammit".

I'm curious at what the man has to say about himself even if we have a basic idea OoC and I feel like asking about the crates is just fishing for secrets when Shizue has no idea who this guy even is. I'm also curious about this room and the temple since it sounds like Hikaru has some respect for the place given his comment about this is a place of mediation which means that we might get a little on his good side if we show some curiosity about it.

I think that the room itself does not matter overly much; it's a setpiece for events and the place he hid in.

If we want to learn IC about the bigger events transpiring, I think we should focus on who he is( Uzumaki???), what is he planning short-term (when escavation finds him and all) and long-term (what's in the crates).

Specifics of genjutsu and the room are, IMO, absolutely wrong questions to ask. It's just a place, we will leave it behind soon enough. Bigger events won't leave us, ever, so better poke those as much as we can.
