I've done a decent amount of babysitting and childcare. It's not half as difficult as a lot of people make it out to be. Kids are actually pretty good at entertaining themselves, particularly when there is an attentive adult they can show stuff to. Make sure they're fed, and don't hurt themselves, and redirect them when they're starting to get up to no good into another activity, and we should be good. Most people have difficulty with children because they expect them to act closer to adults, where you can assign them a task and then ignore them for awhile. As long as you realize going in that you're not really going to have much time to do anything that you can't do without paying attention to it, it's not a big deal.

I expected you to vote for things, especially things that are bad ideas.

Kids are scary yo. Never know when they are cute balls of happiness and when they are trying to kill themselves with curiosity.

Okay, so.
[X] Try to check around, see what missions he takes.

Also, you asked for it.
[X] Plan Bad Ideas
-[X] First check with their parents about their special likes and needs. The better to evade having to deal with a hated food or activity.
-[X] Use your shinobi powers to entertain the children; what could possibly go wrong?
--[X] Puppets!
--[X] Transformations!
--[X] Walking on the walls!
--[X] Gotta go fast (somewhere, kids love high speed IIRC)!
--[X] Use Okie if you can: elemental stuff is flashier, kids will love it!
--[X] No explosives and no dangerous items though.

As a fan of hilarious disasters, this is a fantastic plan. :lol

Ok, so, I really think [] Try to check around, see what missions he takes. is not an option likely to work out much at all. Even if we know exactly what missions he takes, so what? He's going to take the same kinds of missions we would have, and that won't hint at if he has other motivations in the village or much about him in particular. I really think going for another angle of approach is a much better way of figuring out who this person is. Again, [] Chat with him! will give us far more insight into who he is and what he might be up to.

[X] Chat with him! He probably works for the baron or is an enemy in some way or other, but that's no reason not to be polite! Only do the minimal amount of info gathering, just be nice and talk about simple things like the village, the simple missions you're doing here, etc.

I'm serious, people. Never underestimate the power of friendlyness and courtesy. He's probably not an enemy right now, and we're unlikely to find anything much out just by seeing what D-rank missions he's stealing from us taking. Much better to get a diplomatic foot in the door just-in-case-of-anything. It worked for Naruto Boruto's Dad, it can work for us.

True, what's the use of a social build if we don't use it.

Because lk and I had an idea for a big extravaganza.

Shizue on her own (as a test of the artist.)

Then:

Okiie, Rika, and Shizue.
Junko, Seiichiro, Yuiichi.
Ichiman, Akachi, and Saya.
Genta.
Only thing that was off was her eyes though.

Perhaps it was her- she had (others told her and she would have been the first to admit) not half of her mother's beauty or grace. Her hands were rough with work and scars, her hair had never grown back quite the same since an accident while practise with explosive tags and was now short and frizzy, given to being impossible to manage if it was any longer than neck length. She had greyish eyes, just like her mother, but her nose seemed slightly too big, lips a little too small, and she was gawky, still growing into a little bit of extra height even as the rest of her body grew too.

As a babysitter…! You are looking after a young boy and girl, the girl five, the boy nine, please outline a strategy for survival

[X] Plan This isn't that Hard
-[X] Borrow some comic books from Seiichiro. Even if the kids can't read, they'll enjoy the pictures.
-[X] Quickly make a couple of dolls out of scraps from your sewing.
-[X] Divide the time looking after the kids up between 'Shizue entertains them' and 'they entertain themselves'
-[X] Every couple of hours, give them a musical performance or puppet show. When you're not playing with them, let them entertain themselves with Shizue checking on them every few minutes. Offer the comics and the dolls. Meanwhile Shizue busies herself with things that only take half her attention, like sewing or cooking a simple meal.
-[X] Take them outside in the morning and let them play under your supervision. Then when they're a little tuckered out, bring them inside for lunch and indoor fun.
-[X] Feel free to use ninja arts like your super-hearing or clones to cheat if they seem to be a lot of trouble.

Why do I do these things? I ate something I knew would make me feel bad, and then I'm surprised that I have a headache. Anyways, vote closed.

Because you're human? I mean, often I wonder if you're not some sort of superior writing robot given how high quality and consistent your output is, but it's times like these that remind me that even if you are, your human emulation is robust enough to render the difference academic. :p

More seriously, I hope your headache improves.

A writing robot wouldn't have been going through a dry spell these last two weeks, as far as writing goes.

veekie wins! Congrats!:sour:

-[X] First check with their parents about their special likes and needs. The better to evade having to deal with a hated food or activity.
-[X] Acquire some snacks and sweets beforehand, so you can distract them while you get ready.
-[X] Draw on your theater experience to entertain them, children have limited attention and interests for music, but a puppet show usually works out.
-[X] All else failing, arrange for the kids to play tag so they get tired and go have a nap.
