When the Traveler first graced the Sol System, it brought knowledge, peace, and untold power—until whispers of ruin crept from the dark came and brought ruin to humanity's future, paving the way for a tale of the struggle between the light and darkness for the ages.

But now, one anomaly rewrites the path of history, and presents an echo of different choices.

Will humanity use this new chance to prevent it's predetermined destiny, or will they fall once more.

Welcome to the Echo of Choice.

In the vast, silent gulf of space, where only stars whispered, something ancient stirs—an entity of light and mystery that has traveled countless eons.

The Traveler.

It approaches the Sol System, its immense form like a distant, glowing moon, bringing with it the promise of knowledge, life and untold power.

Its arrival would have propelled humanity to new heights and power, only for something from the void to come and force humanity to its knees, leaving it in darkness, with only a few embers of hope to sustain it.

This would be the building blocks to a legend that would stretch across time and space.

Yet, in the mystery of space and time, a small twist—a ripple—has altered fate's design. Something, an anomaly; has fractured the timeline, presenting new choices that weren't meant to be.

The threads of destiny fray, offering paths both glorious and ruinous, determined by your hand.

Choose where the ripple occurs: (Choose one)

[] Start of the Golden Age, The First Meeting:

In the early days of the Golden Age, the Ares One crew makes contact with the Traveler. Humanity stands on the edge of a paradigm shift, where the promise of new technologies and unimaginable discoveries is within reach. The Traveler's influence could accelerate humankind's ascent—or it could be thwarted, leaving humanity to struggle alone.

[] Mid-Golden Age, Discovery and Power:

Time has passed since the Traveler's arrival, and humanity has colonized the solar system, reaching out to planets and moons. The mysterious technologies of the Traveler are being harnessed, with Rasputin, humanity's most powerful AI, overseeing planetary defenses. Yet, the Traveler's light holds secrets beyond comprehension, and humanity's bold experiments could tip the scales toward salvation or ruin.

[] Late Golden Age, The Cracks Begin to Show:

Humanity has reached the zenith of its power, with advanced technology and thriving colonies spanning the system. But in the shadows, the fabric of stability begins to fray as human greed, insanity and other emotions begin to show themselves. Meanwhile unknown threats start to emerge, coming from the void; and Rasputin grows uneasy, detecting those whispers of danger.

[] Start of the Dark Age, A Shattered World:

The Collapse has ended, but its devastation is far from healed. Ghosts begin to appear, small beacons of hope in a world cast in shadow. Humanity stands on the brink of rebirth, yet the scars of destruction run deep.

[] Start of the Warlord Age, Power and Chaos:

Chaos reigns as Risen Warlords claim power, ruling pockets of humanity with strength and terror. The Fallen and the Cabal spread across the solar system, each carving out their own territories in the remnants of the Golden Age. The Hive, too, lurks, waiting for the opportune moment to strike.

[] Iron Lord Age, A Flicker of Hope:

The Iron Lords rise, a beacon of hope in a world ravaged by war. They stand in opposition to the tyranny of the other Warlords, a promise of order and justice. Yet, it is a perilous time, for the Warlords will not yield without a fight, and the Fallen, Hive, and Cabal press ever closer.

Start as the owner of a private company. (Any stage)

Or in charge of a division of one the Destiny Big Name Groups, maybe even Rasputin's covert group. (Mid or Late)

Its opening status (if the company/division just recently opened up or has some time established) will be voted after the chosen time is determined.

Its specialty will be voted on as well.

Start out as a Risen in charge of a settlement.

How he came to be in charge will be voted on, the same with power set.

Age/Experience of Risen will be voted on Warlord and Iron ages.

Chance of settlement being underneath the Traveler, decided by roll.

Hey guys, so welcome to my first SV quest and first plan quest.

I did a poll to see which series would be interesting to do and the winner came up with Destiny, followed by a three-way tie between Resistance, Transformers and Halo.

Depending on how things go in the quest and your input, I might decide to incorporate any of the the other three series into the quest.

The Chimera could easily have been dormant beneath the Earth and begin to wake after the Collapse. Looking over the available background of their source canon, the Chimera easily fit the lore of being a Darkness using species.

Transformers, could be native (with one of Savy's Truth or Lie being truth 'The Traveler is not the only one of it's kind'; with Primus being another Traveler-equivalent) or from another dimension (Lord knows the amount of times we seen a Space Bridge of theirs go boom).

Halo, well it and Destiny belong to the same 'multiverse'; and lord knows the amount of ways into other dimensions are possible in Destiny (from the Vex, Ascendant Realm, the Star Horse to even the space station Cocytus)
At the very least I will allow researching any UNSC tech if you guys wish to from the start.

Either way, I hope you guys decide to give my quest a chance.
Since this is my first time doing a plan quest, I will probably be asking for some input; specially in coming up with actions, thus the write-in option will be available in the categories.

Please wait for me to reserve posts below before I open the voting session.

[X] Start of the Golden Age, The First Meeting

Okay, so we are starting in the literal beginning of it all.

We are starting on Earth; just one month after the Ares One group made contact with the Traveler, but no information from the group has yet to be known to the public.

The company is in North America, which just recently became the North American Empire*, which came as a result of:

[] [AMERICA] The peaceful union of Canada, US and Mexico.

[] [AMERICA] The annexation of Canada and Mexico to the US through diplomacy.

[] [AMERICA] The annexation of Canada and Mexico to the US through military force.

[] [AMERICA] The desperate union of Canada, US and Mexico to stabilize their nations after a series of bad events.

[] [AMERICA] Write In

*There is hardly anything on the so-called North American Empire; so decide to take liberties on it.
Only thing about it that is clear that they had an economy that was not regulated that much, leading to Clovis' corporation to have it's established freedom in doing what ever he wanted, which we all know how that ended.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Provide a name* for the company and its specialty:
-It's specialty will determine it's bonus in either points or dice.

[] [NAME] Write In

[] [SPECIALITY] R&D

[] [SPECIALITY] Manufacturing

[] [SPECIALITY] PMC

[] [SPECIALITY] General (aka jack of all trades)

[] [SPECIALITY] Write In

*Regarding the name, after a talk with a friend of mine; I am willing to allow the use of ironic names.
Example being: Cabal Heavy Industries, or Vex Information Systems. Hell, I will even allow the use of Bungie.

----------------------------------------------------------------

How old is the company:

[] [AGE] Just made.
- Start with a small amount of resources only.
- Small staff or even just one person (depending on specialization)
- No obligations.

[] [AGE] Established, normal.
- Start with a medium amount of resources.
- Some small obligations from the start.

[] [AGE] Established, giant.
- Start with a large amount of resources and dices.
- Big obligations to be made from the start.

==========================================================

Dice Rules:

Established=
- Crit (not 100) add +5 to the result. The opposite is removes -5 to the result.

Art 100: If the final result after bonus is exactly 100, it counts as a NAT 100.
[] [ART100] Yes
[] [ART100] No

Dice Crits Range:
[] [RANGE] 1-5=95-100
[] [RANGE] 1-3=98-100

Results of NAT 100/NAT 1:
[] [RESULT] Adds +30/-30 to the result.
[] [RESULT] Adds 1d100/removes one dice if more than one is used
[] [RESULT] Finished the entire phase/drops the DC back to zero even it would be finished in the same turn.
[] [RESULT] Write In

Okay, so here is the next entry.

After this one, creating the MC will be done.

Also, my laptop is acting a bit strange.
So I am planning on taking it to my local shop to check it tomorrow.
So while I have my phone, I won't be able to write large texts while the laptop is there.

Also, I forgot to state it but omakes are welcome here.

Vote moratorium for at least 8 hours until I open the vote. So discuss potential votes.

Hey guys.
So lucky one of my friends allowed to use his computer to write the above while we played and copy/pasted from OneDrive here while on the phone.
So here we make the MC.
Now, for those of you that noticed the city, no this is not a crossover with Buffy.
Chose the name mostly as an easter egg on the fact that according to the Terminator wiki, the original Cyberdyne factory from T1 was located in Sunnyvale, California.
The city is a normal city.
On the other hand, there is already a Hellmouth in on the Moon, and if we screw up; I guess it's only fair Earth has its own Hellmouth.

As for what you noticed above in regards to starter phase, this is basically a phase (after this one) before turn 1 where you can build up how the company's infrastructure with the starting resources, this also includes the mandatory contracts the company has to fulfill and the starting relationship the company has with the NAE and other companies.
Each factory level grants +1 Manufacturing Dice.
If you have any questions, just ask I will try my best to answer them.

Status of NAE after Mexico military annexation:
85 + 25 (Canada joined peacefully) = 110
Vs
1 + 100 (Collapse of Mexico/Anarchy/Cartels) = 101, NAT 1 CRIT FAIL

The military annexation of Mexico was originally thought to take years and a lot of bloodshed due to the collapse of the nation's government after an FOAB of unknown origins was detonated in the capital; and the Cartels taking control of the territories.

But to the surprise of the world, the combination of the US military's determination, the help of the Canadian military and the direct support of the civilians in Mexico, who were tired of suffering under the Cartel's rules; allowed for the rapid fall of the Cartels and welcoming of the US forces as heroes under one month.

Following public trials for the captured Cartel leaders and soldiers; who were tried under war crimes and then sentenced to death; a rapid and modified version of the old Marshall Plan was implemented on the conquered territory to help it recover and paving the way for it to join the US.

One year later, the nation was fully recovered, and the long-awaited process to have Mexico and Canada join the US was done.

It was then on July 4, 20XX; the North American Empire (NAE) was finally born.

On the surface, the NAE was basically the old US with the new change being the formation of the Commonwealth system across the territory, with a total of 16 Commonwealths.

Followed by changes to the NAE Senate, House of Representatives, and the Presidency.
The Senate would be composed of 32 members, with each Commonwealth getting two spots on it. The same change to the House.

The Presidency was changed to change the term from four years to ten years but with no chance of reelection.

(Using this map inspired by Fallout. Canada and Mexico are their own Commonwealth; Hawaii belongs to the Pacific C. while Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands have formed their own Commonwealth known as the Carribean C.)

Skynet is located in the California C.

Was the accident caused by us or someone else:
34 vs 69
It was not us, and the 'accident' was a rather humiliating one that was a PR nightmare.

Is John aware of it:
12 + 35 (Spec Ops) = 47
VS
80 + 50 (Made to look like an accident) = 130
John thinks it was truly an accident.

Cover up the accident from the public:
65 + 35 (Spec Ops) = 100, ART 100 CRIT
Vs
21 + 75 (Sudden situation) = 96
John was able to cover up the scene and make it look like the accident was natural causes instead.

Skynet was enjoying a stable growth till it's founder Gale was found dead in her home by her company's head of security; John Conner; after she did not report to work and was not answering her phone.

To the public and authorities, Gale was found dead in her home after a heart attack in her bed.

In reality, John found her dead in what could easily be described as a solo sexual activity gone wrong. John, knowing the problems that would arise if it became public knowledge on how Gale died, he tampered with the scene and made it look like a natural death.

Luckly for the company's status, the death of her founder only gathered sympathy and while it's value temporary dip, it went on to increase for a while as people showed support to the company. It also helped that the public were paying more attention on the situation regarding the floating sphere in Mars.

A few days later after the funeral, the members of Skynet got together and found that according to the laws of the company, the next one in charge would be the head of the security till a new one could be decided one year later by the board.

While John knew nothing on how to run a business, he knew he needed to step up and keep Skynet running both due to it being his only job and to keep Gale's dream alive as his final favor for her hiring him after he left the military.

John looked over what available assets the company has and how to use them:

Initial Resource Points:
Roll 1d20
Bonus-
+5 (Stable NAE) + 3 (Established company) + 2 (Sympathy from public) = 10
Roll 1d20+10=20+10= 30

Initial RP= 3000
(Final RP must not fall below 0)

--------------------------------

So, since this was the second-place winner, I am giving you the chance to hire the following to be the first helper for John:
Note, the +1500 bonus is not applied here, that would have been the bonus if he was the CEO.

Ivan Beck (Investor)
Skynet's biggest investor.
Special Roll: 25% chance of Income at the start of each turn to double.
Cost- 250 RP

Relationships:
List-
  1. NAE
  2. Sunnydale
  3. Clovis Bray
  4. Hakke Heavy Industries
  5. Ishtar Collective
I know Ishtar was made after Venus was colonized but for this timeline, they are already an established, international scientific think-tank.

Bad: +200 RP

[] NAE:
[] Sunnydale:
[] Clovis Bray:
[] Hakke Heavy Industries:
[] Ishtar Collective:

-Civilian (250)
-Military (500)
Clovis (250)
Hakke (250)
Ishtar (50)
Sunnydale (100)
Private Companies (100)

You can take both NAE contracts, though the military would need two MDs, so a total of three MDs.
Private companies cover general sales across other minor companies and small stores.
Taking a contract with an established group reduces the cost of Relationship above by 100. Taking both NAE contracts grant the good status for FREE.

Special- -500 –250, Active NAE military personnel, have to follow John's orders. Can only be taken if NAE relationship is GOOD and has military contract.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Status of Power:
[] [POWER] None.
[] [POWER] Small Molten Salt Reactor
[] [POWER] Experimental Cold Fusion Reactor

None, +100
- Connected to the local power grid.
Small Molten Salt Reactor, -150
- Public knowledge. Grants +1 MD.
Experimental Cold Fusion Reactor, - 800
- The first and only one of its kind (Think Fallout Cold Fusion), invented in secret by Gale. No one except Skynet know it's existence. Opens action to sell energy to Sunnydale and if so, sell the design to the NAE. Grants +2 Free Dice.
-------------------------------------------------------
Ask for a loan:
[] [LOAN] Yes
- How much
[] [LOAN] No

The loan has to be pay in full before the end of the year, with a 25% interest. The RP can be used in this phase if taken.
Example- Took a loan of 1000, you must payback 1250.

--------------------------------------------------------

Now, since you guys have been going with a Terminator theme, I decided to give you all the following possible gift that you can choose if its real or not.

Just before she joined the Ares Program to get to Mars; Dr. Mihaylova (creator of the AI 'R', who will later become Rasputin after Clovis bought the code) worked with Gale to create a second AI in secret at her company HQ based on R.
Upon reading her secret will, John will discover the existence of the AI.

Does the AI exist:
[] [AI] Yes
[] [AI] No

Note, you can only choose this option if you have the following and cost:
  • The Cold Fusion Reactor
  • The Advanced Lab
  • 300 RP

Vote the following options only if you take the AI option.
Name:
[] [NAME] S
[] [NAME] A

Bounded or not:
[] [BOUND] Yes
[] [BOUND] No

The possible names S and A are due to the following:
S, well, it's kind of obvious what it's final name will be.
A, on the other hand, the final name will either be Anastacia or Anya. This option is mostly on the theme of a possible future fight between our AI and Rasputin if Clovis decides to get rid of us.
Anastacia vs Rasputin.

The bound option means if the AI has 'chains' that restrict its development and its capabilities at the start.
Bound- +2 RD, small chance of developing sentience
Unbound- +2 Free Dice, higher chance of developing sentience

You step into the office—Gale's office.

Or at least it used to be hers.

Despite some time having passed since her death, the smell of Gale's lavender diffuser lingers faintly in the air, mixing with the faint hum of the air conditioner.

The black business suit, which Beck made you wear to show you are CEO material; you're wearing feels stifling, the collar of your shirt brushing uncomfortably against your neck. You can't help but long for the worn comfort of your old security uniform, with its functional pockets and familiar weight.

At least you felt a bit of comfort at keeping your handgun hidden in a holster underneath your jacket.

'Now that I have money, I wonder if I can call that Italian some of the guys told me about for a special suit.' You though as you walked across the office toward the desk.

Taking a deep breath, you approach the large mahogany desk, her desk. It's a piece of art more than furniture, its glossy surface devoid of clutter except for a sleek computer monitor and a neatly stacked planner.

Your fingers brush against the edge of the desk as you reach for the power button on the computer, which was custom made from Gale's own specification and was probably more expansive than most normal cars.

The screen flares to life with a quiet hum, illuminating the dim room. For a moment, you just stare at the login prompt, the reality of this new responsibility weighing on you like the suit you'd rather not be wearing. Eventually, you type in the credentials Gale had left behind to put in her will.

The desktop loads, displaying a wallpaper of a serene mountain landscape that only serves to contrast the chaos in your mind. You're barely five minutes into this job, and the weight of Gale's expectations—of everyone's expectations—is already pressing down on you.

"This is going to be a pain." You said to yourself as you sit down on the chair.

A soft ping draws your attention to the corner of the screen. A message flashes up in the text chat window:

Good morning, John.

The words are simple, yet they send a shiver down your spine. It's S. The AI. Gale's secret project. Your secret now.

For a moment, you hesitate, your fingers hovering over the keyboard. The existence of S still feels surreal. A part of you wonders if Gale had been playing some kind of twisted joke on you, but you know better. The will had been explicit—S was real, and it was your responsibility now.

You type out a hesitant reply:

Morning, S. Anything I should know?

The response comes almost instantly, faster than any human could type:

All systems operational. Also, Mr. Beck sent an email detailing his recent success in doubling the company's current resources via stock market investments. Congratulations.

You lean back, rubbing your temple. The existence of S still doesn't sit right with you. You've faced assassins, enemy special operatives, cartel enforcers, double crossing spooks, but this? This is uncharted territory. Gale's hidden will had been cryptic and brief, detailing only enough to inform you of S's creation and the fact that Dr. Mihaylova collaborated on it.

The rest?

Locked behind layers of encryption and secrets you weren't sure you wanted to unravel.

Your fingers hover over the keyboard before you type.

"Good morning, S. Thank you for the update."

The response is instant.

You're welcome. Shall I prepare a report on current stock trends or assist with initial strategic goals for the day?

You shake your head slightly. "Not yet. Let me get my bearings first."

Understood. I'll remain on standby.

The text vanishes as quickly as it appeared, leaving you alone again with the computer and the enormity of your new job. Beck's email stares at you from the inbox, but you don't click it right away as your thoughts were still focused on other things.

Mars. Mihaylova. A secret AI.

The fact that you can't contact Mihaylova only deepens the pit in your stomach. She's out there, working on something larger than life on Mars with the Ares Mission with that white alien sphere, while you're here, piecing together a puzzle left by a woman who trusted you enough to leave this all behind.

You take a deep breath and click on Beck's email. The text is a mix of financial jargon and subtle gloating, detailing how he leveraged market trends to bring in an influx of resources. Useful, but a reminder that you were just a soldier, not a businessman.

"Time to learn fast." You mutter, leaning forward.

=======================================================

Manufacturing: (5D; 4D LOCKED)

[] Expand Factory (0/500; 100R per dice): Skynet's factory is already a marvel of technology and progress in order to manufacture large quantities of various computer parts thanks to it's uses of industrial 3d printers and experts in putting the pieces together. So, it would help to expand it to increase its capabilities. (Reward: +1 MD)

[] Inventory the current products of the company (0/200; 50R per dice): Understanding what Skynet produces is essential for making informed decisions. Review the catalog of current products, including their profitability, market reception, and potential for improvement. This will help you identify strengths and areas for innovation.

Research: (2D)

[] Game Engine, Phase 1/? (0/1000; 75R per dice): Skynet is dedicated to making computer parts. But there were some in the company that maybe it was time to expand into new ventures related to the computer field. In this case into video games, a market that is connected to the need of constant computer parts. So, one first step would be to create a new game engine that belonged uniquely to Skynet that was a match to the known engines in the market.

[] Rediscover the Lost Sloot (0/1000; 110R per dice): The Sloot Digital Coding System, a marvel of data compression, was thought to be lost. Attempting to rediscover and refine it could lead to breakthroughs in data storage and transmission. Not to mention a boost in sales for computer memory related parts.

[] Arms, Armor and Armored Integration, Phase 1/? (0/1000; 150R per dice): If there was one thing that being in an electronic company would give you it was integrating the latest technology with the modern battlefield, and you know it's probably going to be a hard sell, but there's a potential market here.

Operations:

[] Look for COO (0/100; 50R per dice): You honestly don't know anything on how to run a business. So, it would be best to see if you could find someone that knows about it and can be trustworthy in keeping Skynet's secrets, specially the existence of the reactor and S.

[] Look for a Head Scientist (0/100; 70R per dice): Skynet has an advanced R&D lab at its disposal and a department with some of the best computer scientists working in it. But with Gale's death, who was the unofficial head of the department; the group of scientists are somewhat lost in what to do. So maybe it would be best to have someone take over.

[] Look for a Head of Security (0/100; 50R per dice): Technically speaking, you were still in the Head of Security even with your new post as CEO. But being both at the same time was just a recipe for disaster waiting to happen. It's time to see if you can get someone, either from your old staff or someone from the military group the NAE sent to guard the facilities; to be the new Head of Security.

[] Discover any possible DARPA contracts (0/100; 50R per dice): While Skynet has a strong contract with the NAE in both civilian and military sides; they were just to simply manufacture and deliver computer parts. But this does not mean looking for contracts that dealt with specific things was not off the table.

[] Create a scholarship program/employment network (0/500; 50R per dice): Skynet has a good standing with the people of Sunnydale, being a stable source of job for its people and treating them right. You think of the idea of offering a university scholarship program for students that in exchange for paying for their education, they come to work for Skynet either during their education or after graduating.

[] Form an internal watchgroup for corruption/corporate espionage (0/500; 100R per dice): Corporate espionage and internal corruption could cripple the company. Establishing a discreet internal team to investigate and monitor potential risks would ensure operational security.

[] Form a watchgroup to check out rivals and national/international news (0/500; 100R per dice): Knowledge is power. A dedicated team that monitors competitor activity and analyzes trends in the industry and politics could help Skynet stay ahead of the curve.

[] Write In

Personal:
(You can purchase a dice in any personal action as long as you use the RP that it demands, multiple times if you wish as long as yo pay. Using a FD on a personal action does not consume RP.)

[] Get a new suit (0/250; 50R per dice): You are forced to wear a business suit due to your new job, which is uncomfortable compared to your usual clothes. Now that you have some money, you wonder if you could get a custom suit that can fit you and serve you.

[] Talk with S, the AI: While the idea of a sentient AI still feels surreal, you need to get a better grasp of its capabilities and intentions. Having an honest conversation (even if one-sided) could shed light on how S can help manage Skynet and uncover insights left behind by Gale. (1 dice to activate, 25R)

[] Check your qualifications. Just because you're a CEO now doesn't mean you're a REMF: It's time to reflect on what skills and experiences you bring to the table. As a former Head of Security, you're no stranger to leadership and operational discipline, but running a company requires an entirely different skill set. Can you bridge the gap? (1 dice to activate, 25R)

[] [FREE] Talk to the Traveler: You been hearing some rumors that some people have being able to speak with the thing in Mars through their dreams and teaching them things. You find this to be a load of bullshit. (One dice will be rolled)

==============================================

Okay guys, here is the first official turn.
Would like to thank Cyber and filipinosberman for giving me ideas for the actions.

As you can see, I added the option to write ideas since I am not sure what exactly to include.
You can give me actions you wish to do and I will see if they are viable or not; including how many phases and RP will require.

If you have any questions, just ask I will try my best to answer them.

If you spot any errors, please let me know.

Vote moratorium for at least 12 hours until I open the vote. So, discuss potential votes and ideas for possible actions.
